  1. So.....why are we spending $200 on rods?
  2. Hope they find these guys. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/police-search-for-missing-canoeists-in-algonquin-park-1.2645394 What's the water temp up there 50 degrees? Careful out there, everybody
  3. Ya, I agree with Lew. 16 ft would be better. All around better size, especially in bad weather. Probably want a bigger motor with 16 ft. At least 3/4 of boat's motor rating. Might get lucky watching Kijiji. Gotta look often. This is peak boat buying season.
  4. As a student I worked for an old dairy farmer. One day he delivered a load of bales to Woodbine Racetrack and stopped into the Mercedes Dealer on Steeles. He wore farm clothes. Nobody would come and talk to him. Finally the sales manager became aware of the situation. He came over and closed a deal for $68K cash for a Turbo Diesel 500 S, I believe.
  5. Looks like these E-Tecs are doing well. Was chicken to buy one when they first came out - so went with Yammy. On paper, they are a no- brainer. Performance, economy, minimal maintenance. But will they last?
  6. He'd be gone if he worked for me
  7. X2 Costco has them I think
  8. cool. do folks eat them?
  9. There will be tons on the lawn tonight after the rain
  10. Chewed the tip of one blade on my stock '07 Yammy 115 4str.last fall. Thinking of having this one repaired in Buckhorn but thought it may be best to get a new one and use the repaired one for a spare. I'm too cheap to buy a SS prop. Not sure of the pitch on my current prop but I have 2 concerns. 1. Hole shot slow with 3 or more people in the boat (17.5 ft Lund) No problem with 1or 2. 2. Can't get trolling speed down below 2.3 mph. Engine idles around 700 rpm. Likely will get an aftermarket aluminum. Should I get a different pitch? Or a 4 blader? Or stick with same? What would you do? Peter
  11. Ya, looks the the lawn where there are no trails, looks pretty sick.. Likely a grub problem and the moles, coons and others will dig for them The only licensed product in Ont are nematode worms that you apply and water in. I hear not very effective. maybe 30% Could take a ride to a big box store in Buffalo and pick up something that would work
  12. a quality bird/hummingbird feeder
  13. You have pelicans up there?
  14. So with this late spring, cold water and high levels, what's the strategy this weekend? Good weeds will be hard to find, I suspect.
  15. I remember going out on a charter on the Bay of Fundy The kids caught a super ugly 12 inch fish the Captain said "that's a mother-in-law fish" We had a good laugh
  16. I'm on NE Pigeon. Haven't noticed any dead panfish this year. Thought there would be lots. Fairly bad last spring
  17. I'm no chemist, but would it be safe to say that if water is in the tank, it would be at the bottom and likely accumulates a bit every year if not drained out? It would only be within the gas if heavily agitated? So we likely all have a bit at the bottom. The older the boat, the more water. Wouldn't be a problem until it gets into the fuel line
  18. Magnificent reports, as always. Interesting that you say braid got outfished 10-1. Hard to believe they care even up there thanks
  19. Need to ask, was there ethanol in the fuel and was the tank filled before storage? I hear these things contribute to water in fuel but I know there is controversy
  20. Looks like from the land offshore that it's the Sibbald Point PP launch. Been a while since I've been there but looks like new concrete. Used to be permanent docks. No more?
  21. Opened the cottage this weekend up on NE Pigeon, Water levels are as high as last year but receding slowly. Ice just gone a week. Glad to see the Loons, Osprey and even a cormorant (no capitals) are back. Lots of ducks, I don't know the name of, but they must be stopping on the way north. Unfortunately got my first mosquito bite too. Nobody on the water.
  22. I have two and use them for braid/dypsie rods on Lake O and muskie trolling on the Kawarthas. So far so good.
