  1. Sorry to hear. Hope she does well
  2. there are lateral settings on the dypsy. 0-3. the more out to the side it goes, the less deep 275' seems way long for 40 ft. even at the 3 setting
  3. Just a follow-up guys. Took the tire in to my local ATV shop. They found a thorn in it causing the leak Put a plug in. $20 Badda Boom. I'm in business They said thorns are common. Who'd a thought? Thanks for all your help
  4. So Greg, you prefer a grub at the weedline to a bucktail into the weeds? Or do you do both? 3, 4 or 5 inch?
  5. Looking at a new/used car or small SUV for the wifie Many have CVT trannies. I guess to improve fuel economy. Will they be as maintenance free and durable as their automatic predecessors? Should they be embraced or avoided?
  6. Don't know you Biguli, but shouldn't you be working with that other "pickle" at 1:30 in the morning?
  7. I had a problem with fish biting thru my line using flies or meat. Lost many good fish. Nothing to protect the line if a biggun takes it deep, especially later in the season when teeth are bigger. A spoon protects the line, usually. So Charlie Wray recommended 30-40 lb fluoro from flasher or dypsy back. Talked to him about the problem at a fishing show. Not so much for invisibility. For toughness. Leader material is best. Tougher yet. Helped a lot.
  8. Goodluck with the smallies. My experience on Simcoe is that they run in schools. Find a school and you hit the jackpot. Don't find a school and you'll strike out. The pros use underwater cameras around the various shoals. No fish? Move on. I've had good days and bad days on the lake. There's always perch
  9. I'm getting quotes of $1650-$2000 + HST for Honda parts and 8-10 hrs of labour. $100 less for aftermarket Might be time to get a new car
  10. 2004 Honda Accord. 4 cyl. Standard. 185,000 km. Bought a standard so all 4 kids learn the stick. She's starting to slip for a second or 2 after shifting. Took into CT for oil change. They said it needs to be replaced. I want a good job done for best price. Thinking of getting a few quotes. Who should I ask? Dealer? Mister Transmission? CT? Private garage? Thanks
  11. I bought a new Honda ATV last fall. All is well, runs like a clock. For the last 2 months one back tire leaks slowly. Takes about 7 days to get soft. Took it off and put it in the lake, submerged. Looking for bubbles. None from anywhere. Rims, valve or tread. Is there something I can do or should I take it to an ATV dealer? Thanks
  12. Actually, I'm glad they buy North American. That's what governments should do IMO. Couple years ago I saw an American Coast Guard boat with 2 big Hondas on the back. If there is an outboard made in the home country, those are the ones governments should buy. It's all about image and manufacturing jobs.
  13. used to be commercially fished in Lake O
  14. Was at the Bobcaygeon lock yesterday with guests. An OPP boat is towed in by a 20+ yr cuddy, mid channel. Fairly young guy and gal cops had a 300 hp very new looking Mercury Verado. Couldn't help myself from yelling " Shoulda got a Yammy" They weren't impressed with the situation to say the least
  15. I kinda see your points. It's a loner kinda fishing. I usually fish with a buddy. Also, I can't see trolling to be doable.
  16. Honestly? I don't get the tube thing nor these rigs. If you can't manage a tinny with a 9.8, why not use a canoe? Way more practical. No? What's the deal
  17. HaHa! My woman is passed that. Way more flexibility. Even for that other activiity
  18. Got the flyer today. Typical Sale flyer But....July 19-27 "Storewide Clearance Event" 20-50% 0ff Apparel, Footwear, Archery, FISHING and MARINE ACCESSORIES Then in smaller print "on select items" and "limited quantities, no rainchecks" Now you know. Might be worth a trip
  19. What about wind direction. I find an east wind is often a bust. But an east wind usually brings rain and low pressure
  20. Thanks Gents. As usual, I get great advice from the Gang here on OFC Never occurred to me that galvanized nails would be required. Makes sense. Got a hold of a 16 g nailer and bought PL and galvanized nails at HD. The fine print on the nails say "for indoor use only" Guess they are covering their backside for failure due to rust. This porch will be made of TREX or some other more durable material in 5- 10 yrs. Thanks again Peter
  21. thanks guys. can you get galvanized nail gun nails?
  22. Hey Guys. Need to replace part of a covered porch floor at the cottage. It's 1x4 tongue and groove pine. on pressure treated joists Did some 3 yrs ago. Fastened with finishing nails and hammer. 2 inch I think. I now have a power nailer/stapler. 18 Gauge Should I use 18 g staples or brads? And what length? thanks lots. peter
  23. I'm no catfish guy but the Grand River and Ottawa rivers are well known
