  1. 2 million lake sturgeon a year. Think about THAT!
  2. This is the problem I believe. Most of Simcoe's creeks and tribs are hardly prime salmon run material. I believe the beaver would support a good run. Also in retrospect, didn't the government scrap their chinook stocks and randomly switch to atlantics a few years back?
  3. Nothin much happening from shore anywhere that I've heard of. Went to the pier last week waiting for my gf to finish her shift, 2 hrs with live worms on a pickerel rig, not even a goby bite. Lots of fish jumping, likely carp & cats but even they weren't co-operative. Different day maybe. It usually picks up for a few weeks mid september.
  4. Ha, one time my dad had that idea at the cottage. 15 min later he had a bat AND a chipmunk inside to deal with. Lmao
  5. That's really the only dump you can even get close enough to see them anymore. We went to a few dumps south of there and they were locked up like fort knox. Way too many people trying to feed the bears, so we were told!
  6. I think they have shifted from photoperiod migration to vibration migration. When there's about 250 spoons being retrieved at the same time off every pier it really bring em in.
  7. Nice job man wtg!
  8. I dunno what triggers em, but I start the last week of August on the Erie tribs. Erie is about a month behind Lady O most years.. so you should probably get chucking!
  9. Join your local B.A.S.S. chapter as a non boater. You'll be set.
  10. Everyone watch Zeitgeist the movie and you'll see how unimportant these issues really are.
  11. I like to mix buttermilk pancake mix with garlic powder/cayenne pepper and bread/fry. Mmmmmmm good stuff.
  12. I would have got to shore, then straight faced walk over and pee in their boat, all the while never saying a word. That'd get the ball rolling. Lol Sorry about the arses! There's plenty of em everywhere, unfortunately.
  13. Who do you think owns every Wal-Mart, McDonalds and Costco you pass? And bass pro for that matter?
  14. Kinda stupid to make a law stating no cell phones. We have that policy at work. Boy is there ever a lotta people laughing at their pockets or behind books, not a single person without a phone though... Hmmmmm...
  15. You're allowed up to 5hp on the conservation area. The other ponds are currently unregulated. I wonder how many dummies have wrecked their 50 hp's going through there this year. Sheesh. It gets worse n worse. There was some drunks taking turns on a jetski one night. And yes. Keep fish from somewhere that can take it. The collapse of the pike at the conservation area is proof of that.
  16. That would be "indian pond" on the south side MOS.. its full of largies like all the others but not too many push too far into the pad field!
  17. It works okay for smaller boats. Some dips and debris on the lower end of the ramp most days. The ramp into stump is much worse, it's more a gravel beach than a ramp. Backing in there you're best off to have your truck raised on 50" tires.
  18. Definitely worth the trip from brantford. You may also want to check out mohawk lake in brantford. No pike that I know of, but a half decent largie population. Like waterford, you're best off to hit it on a weekday.
  19. Power pro is the worst braid I've ever used, and I say it everytime I spool up a reel with that stuff. Give it two fishing trips, i'll have stripped it off and put stealth on it. The seaguar is right in the same league with PP in my books.
  20. Thats my backyard! The pike fishing is nothing close to good here. They're a rare, probably close to extinct catch. We have major issues with meat hunters coming out here and taking the biggest predatory fish out, thinking its a good thing. I dont get that line of thought, but anyway, the bass fishing is alright and panfish off the charts. Where are you coming from? If more than an hr drive, you live closer to better spots. On mechanic street in waterford, the street where the conservation area is, there is a boat launch into the pond on the north side of the public ponds into "stump lake" which is seggregated from the other ponds. The main set of public ponds has a launch next to the footbridge off alice street (start of shadow lake trail). Launches are free, gravel, and not so great. The bass fishing as of the end of july hit its rock bottom point. Catching a few bass in a day became a challenge quick, from all the fishing pressure the ponds receive unfortunately. Good luck, if ya need any more info PM me. The ponds are 20 seconds out my back door.
  21. Those triploids live in some pretty stagnant ponds. LPRCA may be more thorough with their stocking, but it never seems hard to get them in either of the stocked conservation areas nearby. One is a pond I wouldn't even expect a bass to live in. Your best bet, is honestly, a worm or a gulp minnow on a dropshot for those stocked ponds when it's warm. 8" off bottom, sit your rod in a Y-stick, keep the line tight and wait for it. You'll probably have a lot of other fish bite while waiting for a trout.
  22. Never fished there, but I know the reservoir trout I fish love live bait or a gulp minnow on a dropshot. We connected in 30' range but the resevoir is only 40'... Adjust accordingly
  23. Pool noodles work too
  24. Nobody ran anybody over any coals.. The kid probably didn't know. Now he does. Problem solved.
  25. The launch in port maitland is free and very well maintained. To fish more the river area I'd launch at fishmasters, hes not right up close to the dam but hes on/near some real fishy water. I think he still charges $5. The dam launch is good, but steep, and you have to leave your truck/trailer parked in a not so desirable neighbourhood. It's $5 i believe.
