  1. I'm coming from Brantford, looks to be about 30-40 min drive, I'm willing to give it a try. I have an ivite to good check these ponds this weekend. But of coarse, once I mentioned it to my wife she liad out our plans for the weekend coming up. I'm hoping to be able to check them out. Thank you guys for all the input/info on the area and the ponds them selves. looking forward to adding some info the rest.
  2. I have just stumbled across this place from a guy who came to my house and purchased some of my old gear. Told me these ponds have good fishing, I have 3 kids and I have been taking(2 of) them out alot this year. So my question is has anyone been there this year at? and if so how was the action? We would be fishing from shore this year, boat should be all fixed up by next summer( I hope). Kids will be using simple spincast stuff with small tube jigs or worms with a boober. I would pack a few rods to see what this place is like. I was told, both good bass & pike fishing. Any info as in good parking, boat launch, spieces I could catch, and possibly an area to start to fish at .
  3. Heres the link: http://www.sail.ca/en/catalogue/fishing/reels/ I purchased a 500 size Symetre FJ today. The cashier put an extra 15% discount on the already clearance price!!! WIn, Win for me! The guy I talked to said they will want to be parting with any last year model stuff. Thought I would pass it along.
  4. DaveMc, Thank you, as I have been reading this thread for a while, I was getting worried. At least now I have clear prices, and know there are people out there that can get it right. BillM, Thank you, I never thought of service Ontario. There is one close to me in Oakville.
  5. When I was a teen, I remember watching Game 6 in 1993 against the Kings, in LA. Clark scores 3 goals, puts the team on his back to force a game 7. Because of that game Clark became the best leaf in my mind, or should I say my favorite Leaf. Now Sundin was captain of the Swedish team that won gold, he was a great leader for players like Lidstorm, forsberg. Those 2 even mentioned how great of a leader Mats was. Mats was done for in Toronto, because he was traded for the teams captain and fan fav. Most goals, most points(I think as well), but yeah he was no good. In a stretch from 99-02 the leafs had the MOST playoff games played, true no cup, but 4 goods playoff runs. If I recall correctly, Sundin had an emergency route canal, 6 hours in the chair, then played in a playoff game against the Hurrincane`s. Not many of us would do that, then go to work, no less an NHL playoff game. But yeah he had no hart. I`m a big leaf fan, and I think I have a good handle on reality. They have not done enough yet, but Burke has stuck to his plan, I like what he is doing. A marquee player will not fall into the Leafs lap. Kessel is also done for in Toronto, because of what he was traded for, 2 1st rounders. Kessel is the youngest player in today's game to have 30 goal season in 3 straight years. He may not be the best guy with the media, or even the best team mate. But the guy can score! Every team that wins has a good goal scorer. His talents are needed here, because if not him, who would socre? Go Leafs Go!
  6. I was stopped once when I was in early 20's. I didn't have a valid fishing licence. I had the 3 year card, but never knew about needing to buy a new sticker each year. The officer was very polite and was ready to let me go, but I said I was in the wrong and should not be giving a free ride. A quick ride into shore, a few bucks latter I was back up to standards. I would have felt that I cheated the system if he let go. What would be the items you need on a vessel? Boaters card PFD's one per person manual bailing bucket(my boat has electric bilge pump as well) flares? lights I'm new to boat owner ship, and have yet to slip my fishing machine into the water. Other than what I have listed I can't think of what else you would need.
  7. Nice release, Heck of a bass.
  8. I lived just outside of Sudbury for 3 years. I was in Chelmsford, I fished the Vermillion river(and the lake too) alot with decent success. Smallmouth, pike, and walleye are all catchable from shore. I only fished Ramsey once, I ended up being skunked. The guys I went with did very well using Gulp grubs tipped with small minnows. For the short time you are there don't fish minnow lake, as mentioned not a lot of # in there. I went there a few times with my wife to try it out, only a few small bass, she caught them on jointed rapala's. Good luck.
  9. welcome aboard, I'm new around here too. There is some great info on this board. The search has helped me out with many questions a newbie wants to ask. Hope you will post some pics of your trip when you get back.
  10. Connolly was one of the top 5 center free agents available this summer. Yeah at 4.5 per season he is overpaid, but so many other players are also overpaid. He has some decent skill that may work well with kessel, he is a passer first, hence the lack of a 20 goal season to date. He has always played in a defence minded system in Buffalo, some free wheeling will do his numbers some good. The Leafs power play needed a player of this type of skill to help it out. Health IS a concern, but any player at any time could be out. I don't know much about this Franson, but I'm sure he is better than Lebda. The leafs Defence seems to be getting crowded now, I wonder if Burke will be looking to try to move 1 or 2 more of them before the season starts. Or this could just mean some healthy competition in training camp, then try to move the odd man out....... I for one am glad the leafs did not sign Richards to the type of contract he got. I know Burke has signed a few guys over what they should be paid, but he has yet to handcuff the team with a long term deal over 6 million per season. Over paying for a free agent is really the way to beat out the other teams who are also trying to sign the same player. We would all do the same thing if we had the ability to be "free agents"
  11. LOL, I think you are right. I'm just waiting for that "push" to get it. Thanks, I needed that.
  12. I liked the Leafs move of the day. Liles will help to replace the loss of that Kaberle guy (I hope). Also adding Rick Dudley looks like a good move, I like that one alot. The devils got the player they needed, I was thinking the Oilers were going to take Larson, they need help on D. Draft day is always one of my fav days of the year.
  13. BPS has dropped the KVD another $10 bucks, now its on for $69, a Canada special. I think I need to take the kids to go see the fish there anyways..... I'm not a big Quntam fan, but I think for that price I will pick one up. I ended up passing on the president, I just didn't like it much at all, but I never fish with it. I only played with one in the store. I prefer Shimano or Abu Garcia over Quntam, I have had other Quntam's over the years (1310 baitcaster & Energy spinning), but ended up selling them for other reels.
  14. I was "shopping" on Basspro.com and saw that under the clearance section the Quantum KVD spinning reel is on sale for $20 bucks off. I see the reviews are mixed on this reel, so I'm looking to see if anyone has one and can give me some feedback. I'm looking for the larger reel for my larger spinning outfit. Right now I have a Daiwa samuria 7i, and I don't really like it much. The paddle on the handle is too big for my liking, and I find the reel heavy & unbalanced on my rod. I would love to buy another Shimano Stradic Ci4(I love my 2500!) but they are too pricey for me right now. Any input would be great, thanks.
  15. If you have a map of that lake, then head over to duck bay, stay in the 5'-15' range and use long stick baits like Rapala's. Also the bay off of the mouth of deep bay is AWESOME for big pike. There is drop off from about 8' down to 20'. But this area is near the of boat traffic and some time boat control is a pain. I have fished Sparrow for 30 years now(I'm 33), I love that lake and I always do well when fishing there. My aunt had a cottage in Macleans bay for years, but sold it years ago. We now stay in the trailer park Silver pines.
