  1. Planned on taking that weekend off for a kawartha trip anyway. Will be in the area, so I'll probably be at the tourney!
  2. lol I got a few hours to kill so I'm gonna go fishin' after I get some stuff done here figured I can never decide so I'll let "the people" decide!
  3. Hard to say. My first guess is that one of the local farmers put them in. I find it weird however that there are 3 ponds in this place and only one seems to have any fish, and that they're seemingly just crappie. So it could have been a natural introduction. Who knows.
  4. I see only one with the choice of "musky" so it's a no-brainer!
  5. Wasn't going to make a report of this but figured what the heck. Headed out to a local old gravel pit that I've never fished before. Was hoping it had some bass but all I could manage through the day was a ton of small crappie. Brought limited gear since this was basically a scouting mission, and just about everything I brought caught some crappies. Good to know a spot nearby with them, will come in handy for ice fishing. Otherwise, I don't think I'll visit it again too often. Too many better bass spots nearby. You can see how crystal clear the water was in this pic: And when I finally had some weight on the line, it turned out to be a crappie with 5lbs of weeds attached, lol
  6. Hahahahahahahaha
  7. better withdraw that one..
  8. Yeah.. cuz carp are the only bottom feeding fish in Scugog For the last time, carp don't eat weeds and garbage.. they uproot the weeds to get at the worms, crayfish and invertebrates living under them. And they are very sensitive to foul scents and bitter taste.. something tells me they don't make herbicide tablets that smell and taste like candy.
  9. Wow, what a fish. Congrats! I have yet to catch a laker.
  10. Your wire leaders may slightly change the action of hardbaits like Rapalas. The great thing about that is: pike don't care.
  11. I'm sure it would have the same effect as the juice in the bucket.
  12. I don't think I'd be frying the crayfish out of the Lynn River anytime soon!

    Joke

    lol
  14. Good work. That'll teach him to be curious about fishing.
  15. Well then it should be mandatory for all gangsters to visit the shooting ranges!
  16. Very light in comparison to a deep cycle battery. Maybe 20 - 25lbs. The handle is also much more convenient to carry it around than the plastic straps on batteries. The other features seem to come in handy more often than I thought too. The air pump is kinda weak though. Good for bike tires that's about it.
  17. That is a sick crime, completely baffling. Apparently the guy has no criminal record, no history of mental illness. A seemingly random, incredibly violent crime. Makes me feel sad for humanity in general.
  18. Runs mine about 6-8 hours running hard. Very convenient for my needs.
  19. No fair I want to catch one!
  20. Baaahahahahahahahaha!
  21. Good stuff Justin, nice fish, great pics and exceptional reporting as usual! Thank you for sharing.
  22. Thanks for the link, definitely useful. It is missing quite a few, including the public government run launches. But it's definitely a useful link for first-timers to an area.
  23. Random guess: Gowganda?
  24. I've seen it in many instances but has anyone else tried it? Every time I hit up my local carp spot with carp as the target lately, I'm collecting a bucket of crawfish before I start fishing. It's been outproducing corn regularly. Maybe for those guys who think their carp have grown accustomed to the corn and doughballs etc. it's time to upgrade to the real deal!
  25. Definitely agreed Raf, however most of the time they go and leisurely suck the bait in, either from the surface or below. This one actually came up and smacked on it sideways, similar to my topwater musky. That was what was so cool about it. Only seen a carp do this once before, when some mislead bugle lips smacked my buddy's buzzbait! (That was in a lake by the way) I've seen carp smack jerkbaits or trolled crankbaits before so to think that they are only scavengers is narrow minded IMO. It does heavily depend on the waterbody though.
