  1. Eating a couple of walleye out of the lake won't hurt you in any way Johnny. I've been eating great lakes fish all my life.... and so far I still have all my hair and I'm pretty sure I'm not sterile. lol
  2. The fish don't stop eating because there's a cold front, they move. Learn where to look during cold front situations, and what to use. It's different everyday. If fish always sat in the same spots day after day.. well, there'd probably be none left.
  3. People can have allergies to particular types of spider bites. Get it checked out.
  4. What an excellent report! I felt like I was right there with you guys. Sounds like an awesome time! Thank you for sharing the experience.
  5. I agree with GCD the reel seat should be between the two locking mechanisms. I see a big fish hitting and a busted rod if you have it as far up as Roy's pic suggests. Or worse yet, ripping the rod right out of the holder and into the water, since it isn't locked down on anything besides the butt end of the seat. I've played around with similar rod holders and the best way I found was GCD's suggestion. Yes fighting the reel out was a bit of a pain.. but rod holders in general are a pain. The good thing is when you're trolling because of the speed you're travelling you usually get those extra few seconds before you have to set the hook.
  6. So ... you moved to New York? When did that happen?
  7. I've gone out less than usual but it has nothing to do with weather. As for the fishing, whenever I get out it's been usually better than average.
  8. My quote of the summer has been... "Almost time for our daily thunderstorm." I rather enjoy having the lake to myself as soon as the weather turns spotty though. I usually start laughing at the weekend warriors as they cover their buckets and rush to shore at the sight of a cloud, or a bit of wind.
  9. Egret. Sugarpacket and I just saw one the other day while we were carp fishing.
  10. Quarry is a 1 hour walk, moderate walk 20 - 30 min, short spots 5 min away. lol I don't think I'll do the quarry walk again anytime soon.
  11. I find tubes for smallies are best rigged in the original fashion. Jighead inside not weedless. If you learn to work it you'll find weeds aren't too much of a problem unless you're fishing really, really thick stuff. I like a chiclet style head, gives more of a slow nosedive action rather than a spinning action.. though sometimes the spinning works best. Let the fish decide.
  12. Whatever the conditions call for..
  13. lol my grandfather called 911 last summer from his cottage to see if the phone was working. LOL
  14. JACKSONVILLE, FL -- An unhappy Subway customer called 911 not once, but twice to complain to police that his sandwich was not made to his liking. Reginald Peterson called the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office in hopes that police could have his sandwich made to his satisfaction. A short time later, Peterson contacted JSO again to complain that police still had not shown up. When police did arrive Peterson told the officer he had ordered two sandwiches, checked out, and then walked outside to find the subs did not have "everything" he ordered. He told police he became "very upset" and "belligerent" because the employee making the sandwich was not doing it correctly. Witnesses inside the store say Peterson eventually started screaming at everyone inside. When Peterson went outside to call police. Employees closed the store and locked the door to keep him from returning. According to the report, the officer tried to calm Petterson and explain to him the proper way to use 911, but he would not cooperate. Peterson was arrested and at his request the sandwiches were thrown away.
  15. So the final consensus was to go for the speckies and browns. I headed out for about an hour to find that I can no longer access what was my best spot. Headed to another less favourable spot and just caught a few chub minnows before heading home. Oh well at least me and the dog got out of the house and enjoyed the day.
  16. Their Bull really hits me on two levels. Number one, of course, I'm an angler. The fact that there is no stop to their stupidity really threatens my/my family's favourite pastime. The other level is, I'm a meat cutter for a living. If they got their way, I'd be out of the job. Last I checked there's not too many vegetable cutters out there. Animals eat each other. We are animals too. If they believe animals should be treated like us, well then I guess we should be telling those bears and fish to start a healthy vegan diet.
  17. Yeah but who'd want to?
  18. I hear in some of the states breathing is open year-round!
  19. To be accompanied by the "Ontario Breathing Regulations" book, where you can't breathe in AMZ 3 (Air management zone) from November 15th to the last Saturday in May.
  20. Good. I hate birds. Problem solved. lol
  21. I've read that the materials/labour required to build these small hydroelectric dams would take about 15 years to make back in hydro revenue due to the relative size and output of them. Why the heck would they be investing time and money into these things? Put freakin' windmills along the shores of the great lakes instead. They harm nothing.
  22. When does the "Guide to breathing Ontario Air" book come out? "You can only take 2 breaths per month in Toronto..."
  23. I can't believe I waited til now to watch this .. just awesome Cliff. My hat is off to you!
  24. Fish near jetskiiers not swimmers!
  25. That's awesome!
