I've never fished Darlington, but Pickering many times. I used to launch into Frenchman's Bay @ the s/w side and drive the boat out the channel and over to the east outflow of the nuke station. I haven't been there in quite a while though. Past by once about 2 yrs. ago and noticed there was a barrier preventing people from launching at the old spot I was familiar with. On calm days, it was possible to launch off the beach on the L. Ontario side, but seems the access to the beach has also been cut off. I wonder if the people at the Marina are responsible for the barriers ? There would definately be financial gain for them if public access was cut off. A 4x4 vehicle is definately recommended if a beach launch is attempted. I've pulled a few people out when their tires spun and sank in the sand. If you are shore fishing, not possible to get near the outflow. After 911, security around nuke stations, chemical plants, government facilities, etc., tightened to the point that many great fishing spots were no longer accessable. God luck if you do get out there.

Hey, super news bud. Congrats to the whole family. Seems like we've had a mini baby boom here in the last 2+ years. I think my youngest at just under 1.5 yrs. old and Gerritt's little guy are only days apart. Lots of young and upcoming anglers to share fishing trips with. Yahoo !!!

Pension ? Heck, I'll probably be long gone before they send me a cent. Last time I got a passport was 1998, so it's expired now. It only took a few days, but things have changed since then. I have a simple solution. Vacation in Canada. We have oceans on our east and west and northern coasts and a gazillion lakes in between. Mountains, prairies, Great Lakes. Urban adventures or country life. Cottages, beaches, resorts, hunting and fishing adventures. Whitewater rafting, horseback camping trips, Large city club scenes and concerts. Fabulous restaurants with foods from around the world. We have native cultures, multicultural areas in many urban communities, OFNCers all over to show you the way. Tons more stuff that I can't think of right now. Our provinces and territories are so big, they're like their own nation. (However, some won't be satisfied until it's announced by the Prime Minister. ) You could find different adventures in each one. No need to ever leave Canada. Good luck with your seemingly lifelong quest.

Have a great time Tony. Take lots of pictures. I hope you get into some fishing while you're there. and let's not forget the most important thing. This was a nice move to solidify your position on the Lakeair trip.

I'm with FIDO and have been ever since I got my first phone 7 years ago. Now they are owned by Rogers and share tecnology, but are still run as a separate company so far. No problem getting reception on Bay of Quinte. Not sure how it is on Georgian Bay.

I'm a hunter Lew, but also an animal lover. Talk about contradicting statements. Leaving an animal to suffer like that would be a terrible. You did the right thing. YOU DA MAN !!!

Great to hear you're enjoying the sun, sand and surf Cliff. We don't have any ice fishing reports for you, because there isn't any ice. A blast of cold air is on the way next week. Fingers are crossed. Sorry to hear you lost some flesh, but it sounds as if you didn't care much as long as the fish co-operated. Just don't make a habit of chopping of bits of meat from your body or we'll have to start calling you "Not so Big Cliff."

Salmon and trout on the great lakes are my favourite, but big water walleye are a close second. I'll do some ice fishing for just about anything, but I'm usually after lakers and whitefish. I used to fish the rivers for trout when I was younger, but haven't been for quite some time. I LOVE BEING IN THE BOAT ON BIG WATER BECAUSE IT USUALLY MEANS BIG FISH !!!

Who Thinks Mandy B Should Go To Lakair For Her Birthday!!
Carp replied to bpsbassman's topic in General Discussion
Awww come on Mandy. Join the gang at Lakeair. You'll love it. Tony may like it too. You'll have the greatest birthday party without lots of planning. -
Nice to get out in the boat his time of year eh. Too bad the fish weren't co-operating for you. Get 'em next time 'round.

My whole family went through it just after Christmas. It spread so fast, we couldn't believe it. About 12 family members from 4 households stricken in 1 to 2 days.

Come on -30 Celcius. A few days and we'll have enough ice for weeks.

I've been with FIDO for about 7 years. (gone through 6 or 7 phones in that time) Now, they're owned by ROGERS, but still run as a separate company. They do share technology though. I have much better coverage now. No complaints and they just offered a better package than what I had for the same money.

Good shooting CC. A hen spawned ot in early January ? The weather must really be screwing up the fishes biological clock.

We use a metal bar to lift the hut and place 2x4's under the edges to keep it from freezing to the ice. The gap is filled up with snow on the ice surface. If the sun warms the ice surface enough to allow the 2x4's to sink a bit, we just put more wood under it. Sometimes it's necessary to chip a bit of ice along the edges before raising the hut. At the end of the season, there's usually enough ice to get the hut off safely. The operator who stores our hut during the off season, also puts it out and brings it in for us. He uses a large metal framed sleigh attached to his ATV. He keeps an eye on the ice conditions and will bring the huts in a bit before season's end if necessary, but it's never been a problem yet. Last year, there was good ice too late in the season, so the huts never saw the lake. A few years it's been late January or early February befoe the hut got out on the lake. Last year is the first time I can remember we didn't get the hut out on the lake for the entire season. Hope it gets frigid in a hurry. I'm praying for -30 Celcius....... but just for a few days.

No worries bud. Just bump this post to the top of the page a few times. Someone who has info is bound to see it. If you do get to fish this lake, have a great time and don't forget we like pics. Good luck.

Looks like a massive head on that fish. Too bad it had to end up in the condition shown.

How Evenly Is Your Home Heated? Hot Or Cold Spots??
Carp replied to lloyd's topic in General Discussion
I have a 2 storey home. The 2 bedrooms at the front of the house on the second floor are always cooler in winter. The rest is pretty much equal, except the basement. It's a bit cooler as well. I have very little heat directed towards the basement, but it still stays fairly warm in the winter. My bedroom can get fairly warm, depending on how amourous I'm feeling. -
WOW !!! Your right Joey. If I had a hut like that, why would I want to leave ? Beds, TV, magazines, comfy chairs, microwave, toaster oven, frying pans, solar power, satellite dish, lots of storage space, wood stove for heating and cooking, etc, etc. Looks like about an 8 x 12 ft. beauty. Lots of work went into that hut. Must weigh an awful lot though. I'd be scared to catch a fish and get slime all over the place.

WOW !!! Some of your carp are almost as ugly as me.

I spotted 2 guys wading in the middle of the Credit River just south of Brittania Road in Mississauga yesterday. They were too far and I only had a second to look as I drove. Pretty sure that section is closed to fishing until at least the last Sat. in April. Thought they may be doing some kind of fisheries work, but they seemed to be searching the shallow current areas. My first guess is that they were snagging or just plain netting trout. Unfortunately, I had the kiddies with me or I would have stuck around to make sure those boys had a police escort out of that ravine. #%@& !!!

I'll bet you probably know the people involved Gary. Small community like the one you live in.....has to be someone who lives in the area. I doubt an outsider would chance hitting so many places if they don't know neighbourhood and the people living there. Hard to know who's awake, asleep, at work, on their way home, etc. Definitely sounds like more than one person to hit so many places in such a short time frame. They would need someone to keep watch. Sorry to hear of all the break-ins. I hope the jerks get caught in the act by the police, or......maybe......your community could use the services of a cleaner.
