  1. The first thing we noticed when he walked in was Don Henley's (Tybo's) new haircut Roy. I almost didn't recognize him. Thought maybe Joey brought her part timer to the bash. Hey Rich, that's why we made it on a Friday night. Figured the people from farther away could come if they had the weekend attached to the swill. It was a bit more relaxed as most in attendance didn't have to work the next day. No worries about rushing home. We still didn't stay very late anyway. I wanted to relieve my parents of their babysitting duties. It's a 30 min. drive for me and I think we were home before midnight.
  2. Well 7 fish is 7 more than I caught because the boat never left it's spot in the garage. Good shooting. I would agree a majority of the big fish should be upstream of the ferry docks by now. If weather permits boat fishing for the next week or two, I'd give the area from the entrance to Hay Bay (Sherman's Point) up towards Desoronto a try. I've caught lots of smaller (eating size) fish at Belleville this time of year with the odd big fish mixed in. If you find the right school, no problem getting 20 or 30 in a day. Lots of fun.
  3. The biggest carp lives in Mississauga, ON. I doubt I'd eat any carp bait you may have though and don't think I'll be recognized as the new record. Seriously, I've seen some real pigs in Quinte while fishing spring walleye. They're swimming right along the shore (spawning) in water so shallow, their backs are exposed and they have to thrash around to get back to deeper water. My vote for the most likely or best spot to catch a new record is L.Ontario and any connected bays, inlets, and rivermouths. Carp are a warm water species. They can be caught year round, but are more active and easier catch in warmer waters. In colder months, power station outflows are a good place to find them. Be careful and good luck.
  4. Turn me into a Muskie man ? Hmmm ? I have some gear Jen, but usually hook the toothy critters by accident while fishing other species. Guess I can go after them intentionally. I may hook a walleye.
  5. Wow ! Did I forget to say Wow ?
  6. Exactly Joey. If you looked carefuly at the board, it said 2004/2005 season. Maybe next year.
  7. WhenI was a kid, I used to fish off the docks at our rental cottage with a worm, catching panfish all day. Once, my mom asked my dad to bring me out in the boat for a while. I caught a 3.5 lb largemouth. I think I was 3 yrs. old. That's about all I can remember
  8. I think the BBR crew had Laura wondering what she had walked in to Joey. She forgot all about them when she got chatting with some of the other fine folks sitting around us. Raf's girlfriend and Mistyriver 1's wife kept her mind off the antics going on nearby. That pic you posted of the young lads sleeping on the way home is great nautifish.
  9. It was nice seeing and talking to you again Jim. Your family was great company at our table. I hope Mistyriverjr keeps up those OFC projects. He has talent, patience and a passion for fishing. I guess Ben finally had enough of talking to an old guy like me. I put him to sleep.
  10. Excellent work on those pike snag. Keep the posts and pics coming.
  11. Once again the OFC decended upon the Town of Oakville to terrorize the patrons of The Firehall Sports Bar & Grill. A great time was had by all in attendance. Nice to see so many faces, new and old. I finally met the BBR guys. What a motley crew. Quite the characters those boys. Fishergirl, Aaron Shirley, nautifish, fishindevil and hearingfish were some of the people I was meeting for the first time. I know there were more, but the memory isn't what it used to be. The Misty River family was there in full force. Super nice folks. Mistyriverjr was ready with pen in hand. I'll let him explain that one. Nice idea buddy. Here are a few more pics to add to the mix already posted: Big Bass Rich showing me how to perfect his famous hold. Spiel letting me know life is good at OFC. Fishfarmer talking technique with BPS Bassman Tonyb giving me the "life is good" signal as well. Fishingdevil has Joey's attention. Must be another fishing tale. Tonyb and douG. Aaron Shirley and loonietoon. Spiel interupts his conversation with raf to pose for a shot. Tracker and squid. Sorry Roger. This one of you and Aaron turned out a bit fuzzy. Mistyriverjr passing the pen to Joey while Mistyriver (dad), BPS Bassman and Spiel look on. Nautifish being....well.....naughty.
  12. Thanks everyone. How do I celebrate winning a muskie t-shirt ? Guess I'll have to catch one of the toothy critters when the season re-opens next year. Hey Wayne, I heard you have lots of pretty muskie lures. If you let me borrow one to catch my celebration muskie, I'll let you wear my t-shirt and hook a fish for you too.
  13. WOW !!! That's a super laker Jeff. Congrats.
  14. Welcome to our OFC family Sonic. Enjoy your time here. Lots of info from knowledgeable people.
  15. It was great to finally meet the legend. Even got me in one of the BBR rockbass poses. (didn't take much convincing) You and your crew are real characters Richard. A good time for all. Glad you could make it (via nautifish).
  16. A swell swill last night. It was nice to see so many familiar faces and a few new ones. Some great pics nautifish. Quite the dynamic duo yourself and fishergirl were. Groper ? I was wondering who's hand that was. We had a nice chat. You seem to have a passion for fishing that would rival anyone on this board and you're a classy lady as well. It was funny to see the expression on your face when people asked if you like to fish. Thanks for keeping an eye on those young bucks too. Your posts are great, so keep them coming.
  17. Good to hear they fish were co-operative for you. The biggins are somewhere out there. Keep the reports coming.
  18. Wish we could get a few -20 celcius temps a bit further south. It just doesn't feel right not having ice on L.Simcoe. At least a few inches on Cooks Bay to get the season started would be nice. Heck, what's a Canadian winter without ice ? "Florida"

    Question

I would think the 31st is still open for fishing. Closed seasons most likely start Jan 1. Don't forget to make sure you have a valid licence on Jan 1/07. Good luck if you get out there.
  20. I called on the phone or just went to the dealership in person. Made the best deal I could and got it done.
  21. Much more than just wings on the menu. Don't get me wrong. I love hot wings with a few drumsticks mixed in, but it's a year end bash. I may be looking for something different tonight. Might still order a few wings to munch on though. Firehall does make good wings. Hey Steve (PF) Mmmm, yummy.
  22. Ah yes, the good old days. When I wanted toys, I just bought them. No responsibilities, no worries, no debts, and the main reason......no wife !!! Now, I'm spending for 5, and the wife easily spends double what I do on my gear and toys.
  23. Good shootin'. Way to go bo.
  24. Hey, you made it. Congrats on the climb up the ladder.
  25. I'm a realtor and a jack of all trades to the delight of my better half. (I park tools in my garage) It's her list that eats up much of my spare time. (when I could be fishing with my OFC brothers and sisters)
