The Highland Company hid behind numbered companies and misleading statements by the people that are acquiring properties on their behalf. They knew many farmers would not sell if the truth were known. How is anyone supposed to trust anything they say. They can do all the environmental assessment they want and promise to protect the surrounding land & water, but we all know how big business works. Their goal is making lots of money. The environmental impact will take a back seat in a hurry. Once the operation is approved and underway, it will be impossible to stop it. I've been enjoying the outdoors in this area for years. Now I even take my kids there on hunting and fishing excursions. The thought of destroying this region with giant open pit mines and heavy machinery clogging the roads just makes me sick. The Premier and his Environment Minister should be attending this event. In fact, the Federal Environment Minister should be there as well.

I don't mind the idea of serving on a jury. In fact, I think it may be very interesting. The problem I have with it is I'm the only income provider for a family of five. A long trial would bankrupt me.

I've attended the Oakville swill a few times in the past. Always nice to meet some of the regulars on the board and the new members too. Lots of friendships and fishing partners found at these events.
