Before proceeding I would try to determine if it is stable enough for a casting deck. Maybe put it in water and stand on the front seat , check it out first.

Ohio hit the nail on the head. As much as I enjoyed topwater fishng for smallies when my folks had a cottage on a Haliburton Lake full of smallies, A seven wt full sinking Wetcell or a 300 grain sinking shooting head with mono shooting line when they went deeper, with a black "Woolly Bugger" was as good as any presentation with any type of tackle. For topwater smallies, early when it was like a millpond, you didn't really want to cause a lot of commotion on the surface, best fly and it was really not designed for surface fishing, was to fish a Muddler Minnow as a dry with a twitch and skating retrieve. Probably made a good imitation of a large caddis and miller type moth or a hopper I guess.

Except for the colors and the twin tails, it is not unlike the baby muskrat lures that were sold by both Webber and Marathon tackle companies 50 years ago. I'm guessing you would want to get it waterlogged before using as a lot of the casting weight would be water. Searching "Marathon "or "Webber " muskrat lure will get a few examples of the vintage version for sale by collectors on eBay, for those looking to roll your own.

Here's a heads-up of one to watch for. Not sure if it's going to be a "one of" as everyone involved has day jobs, but I expect it to be the premier rock CD of this year. At 60 years old, I grew up with Clapton, Page and Beck as guitar heroes, Bonamassa is every bit as good IMHO, probably technically better. http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermo...wsitemID=135451 Have fun at the show and play it LOUD.

Trout?? seems to be layman's term , much like we refer to ducks, geese and swans all as waterfowl. Here we have Rainbows and Cohos in the same genus, so they are salmon. Likewise , Browns and Atlantics are the same genus , so, I guess they are both salmon too. Lakers and Specs, we all know they are really char. Taxonomically speaking, is there really such a thing as a trout?? Any wildlife biologists want to chip in? As a forester, I got a handle on how all this taxonomic stuff works , but only related to plant material.

Thanks, wonder if any of the Atlantics stocked in Lake Ontario are going the same route? would help to explain some of the low adult returns for the stocking numbers.

Now that American Eels are on the protected list like sturgeon for Ontario, wonder if some of the impediments between Lake Ontario and the Atlantic are going to be relieved to aid in their recovery? Saw an article somewhere recently that Steelhead that have been identified as from either Ganny or Credit stock are moving into Atlantic Salmon Rivers in the lower St Lawrence and/or Maritimes, obviously they are moving one way. Has anyone heard of any measures or studies planned to help the American Eel recover? edit: Any measures could have implications for other species, good and bad.
-
Maybe not entirely impossible, don't the American Eels make the trip? I know they are not as common as in my youth but I caught one maybe 15 years ago at the mouth of the Forty.

They're good, rate them just below EGB's and the Delfin Alligators ( silver plate / red stripe) for specs.

Just tell you let a few rounds fly at it from your deer rifle, you'll have a bunch of squad cars and a SWAT Unit there in under 5 minutes -
Built my first rod when I was living in Port Rowan, 1974. A 9 foot, seven wt fly rod for bass bugging. At the time there was a fly shop and general tackle store in Tilsonburg called Vance's or Vance Bros. For the most part they imported a lot of stuff from the old Herter's Sporting Goods in the states and resold it. I would think this rod was one of their kits, brown fibreglass and chromed brass ferrule, probably coated the windings with spar varnish or polyurethane . Shortly thereafter I started to deal with Lorne Green in Mount Hope when he was still selling out of his basement, Lamiglas and Fenwick blanks at the time, also was getting Browning Silaflex blanks from Johnny Raso in Welland, fine fibreglass blanks too. Had a copy of a rod building book by Dale Clemens, think it was a Christmas gift. First graphite builds were Fenwick HMG's and then used G. Loomis blanks when he started up on his own. Except for a few diamond butt wraps always preferred a very simple winding with a fine trim band, usually a wrap close to the blank colour with a turn or 2 of gold or silver for trim depending on the blank diameter and no colour presever for a transluscent look. Only built for myself, a few friends and family. haven't built now for about ten years and now that Lorne is gone and I'm retired not really sure where to go to get materials. Loved to go there, flex a few different blanks, compare different hardware, talk a bit, mail order just is not the same

Kaberle was playing for the Czech's too

This division in the ranks of sportsmen reminds me of this poem " First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a communist; Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist; Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew; Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak out for me." Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) First they come for the fur hunters, then the fur trappers, then all hunting , then catch and release angling Tighten ranks gentlemen or we are all at risk.

When a buddy lands a fish, say " you're gonna want fries with that "

Sounds more like a bunch of bureaucrats trying to justify their existance and their budget. Looks like the women are assured gold or silver in hockey and curling, WTG.

they did step up the game a notch or 2 but the opposing goal tending was several notches below that of Miller or Hillier, going to be interesting, not going to run up the score like that in the first period against a better goalie.

Night vision goggles or infrared camera needed
dave524 replied to bigfish1965's topic in General Discussion
I had an Sony Hi8 movie camera that had a 20 X zoom and an infrared setting, never tried the infrared at any distance but close it gave those weird colored nightime shots that you see on Survivor on their nightime shoots. Decent zoom but no image stabilzation so a tripod is advisable, they should be kicking around for a song now, might work for you. EDIT: some of the trail cams have a infrared setup, with deer season over maybe one of the hunter could do with theirs for a while. -
Did Crosby play?? didn't seem to see much out of him

In a similar pinch, grab a tube of saltine crackers, roll them, still in the tube, to your desired size with beverage bottle of your choice, dip fish in egg mixture and roll in cracker crumbs, fry, works well.

Yes, Canada beats the US and Russia takes the Czechs, we have #1 seed. Unless I'm missing something

Yeah, I saw that it was tied to google by the logo, but, the last time I was on google it did not have street level for anywhere between Hamilton and Niagara Falls. Just tried google again and see my house there. Google has expanded their coverage recently, my mistake, thought the new site had better coverage.
-
My 82 year old father just showed me that site this morning, way better coverage at street level than google

Just got up and see the Russians went down to Slovakia in a shootout, getting very interesting..
