  1. I think for most it's more about a funny story or ongoing joke... It adds to the fun of fishing....
  2. I don't know about thinnest... But the strongest toughest mono I know is Berkeley "big game" It's a great price... Like 8-10$ for a 1/4lb spool.... And tough as nails... I drag it across rocks... Muscles... And get lots of accidental musky on it and it does very well... Very stiff... if your putting it on a spinning reel it's not the best...
  3. Yup... Never seen it this bad... Normally I can grind enough fish trolling to keep me happy... But not this spring... Even at night it's been tougher then previous years... Only problem with these jigging fish is size... I usually get fish 22"+ trolling... And I am lucky to get anything over 22" jigging... But the numbers of fish kinda make up for that
  4. It's sounds like the power steering would suit you... I pretty we'll only use my electric motor for vertical jigging and casting musky... But being on a river... I only need to make adjustments... The current does the rest... Sometimes I can cast a weed bed for 200-300-400+ feet without touching the pedal.,, so for me I love the cable drive... Power steering is way too slow... And you can adjust steering tension on the foot pedal...
  5. Trolling walleye... Flatline... Rod in hand... On structure... Slamming bottom... With cranks.... Ooohhhhh baby...
  6. Flip flops in the rain for me... When really warm... Uninsulated rubber boots for 5-20 degree air temps 5 degrees and under I've got my 2000 gram gore tex hunting boots... And different socks for different temps...
  7. You should check out "fergie" spoons... They did the trick... They look funny but they do work...
  8. So far this year has been interesting to say the least... The walleye are behaving way different then past years... So I had to step out of my comfort zone of flatline structure trolling and go vertical... I was marking lots of fish on the sonar but wasn't getting many takers on cranks... So after dropping some waypoints on larger schools of walleye I went back over them and got vertical... It was instant success... Literally first lift of the jig and I had a fish on... Over the next few trips I really dialed in on areas holding big numbers... As well as what baits worked best in what conditions... It seams when the bite was on they liked lots of movement... Flash and/or color... So jigging spoons were the ticket... On slow days they wanted small natural presentations... So natural colored soft plastics did the trick... But either way they wanted vertical... In the last 2 trips out (around 8 hours total) during mid day... We boated 50+ walleye... Lots of small 16-18 inches... And our better fish were only about 22 inchers... But they made for really good eating and fast action.... And we got our "vertical limit" in the boat in under an hour each trip....

  10. Some musky guys run with really tight drags... My buddy had a Scotty ripped off his boat... Turns out his rod floated..., picked it up... 51" musky still on...
  11. Knife...
  12. I know it's not the same... But I have the 597 Di Di feature is pretty cool... And hummingbird portable pack I really like....
  13. Those little fellas look mighty tasty... Was there a fish fry following this adventure...?
  14. I sometime also use a small second anchor of the stern to prevent the boat from swinging....
  15. I was told the key is rope length... You want to let out at least double your depth... 50 FOW = 100+ feet of rope....
  16. Not very excited this year... I think it's way too cold... I saw 2 spawning this week...
  17. The Canadian carp club is under new ownership and that may have effected their bookings from the UK.... I also noticed a lack of carpers so far... Also it's been a terrible year until a few weeks ago... Tough tough fishing... But lots of 30s started coming out in the last 2-3 weeks...
  18. It is a sweet vacation... Camping/carpin... That's also a sweet spot you were fishin
  19. Yup... Several...
  20. I think we all know when we are in the right or wrong.... If you take a look at what your doing and truly feel its ok I'd say your good... Those who do wrong usually know it...
  21. Happens everywhere... As soon as one predatory species opens its a free for all.... For example... If pike is open... A spinnerbaits is a great pike bait... It's very hard to prove... I used to pound pike in the opening few weeks on buzz baits.... Legitimately.... But then the next guy could be using the same bait for OOS bass... Only a few feet shallower right beside me....
  22. Hello... So I was given a box of fishing gear from my grandpa... Mostly junk... But there was a box of 6 brand new in the box lures... They are Lhur Jensen "hot lips"... 1/4 oz... Dive to 18 feet... But what's neat is that they are custom painted with " North American Tournament Trail" on the side and a picture of a bald eagle... The box says they were made in 1993... Anybody ever see these?.... Anybody think they're worth anything?
  23. Yup... Didn't feel a thing out in the boat....
