  1. kemper custom or rack rods it doesn't matter you are not getting the best out of your sticks. And the higher price (more graphite) the more effect a little warm up will give you.
  2. Ok River guy pay attention you are going to learn something. Find the rod in your collection that hasn't moved or been touched in years. Now pick up that stick and gently tap the tip on the floor. Pay very close attention to how sensitive it feels. Now warm it up gently in the beginning and then shake the hell out it. Now tap the tip on the floor notice it's 100's of times more sensitive. For steelheading sensitivity is not really that important but a live rod will improve casting, hookset and not snap your prize stick.
  3. Why are we fishing river when chocolate. Same reason nobody listen to OPP when they say stay off ice. They never say the ice is safe because nobody at the OPP knows if the ice is safe. Ever time we get rain the conservation authority issue standard statement "banks slippery, water high rivers unsafe". They never say river safe you can go fishing because nobody at the conservation authority knows if the river are safe. So nobody listens to idiot statements we go down look and decide.
  4. Guys are buying up the 4 piece clarus. Little tiny cars and long rods make the 4 piece desirable.
  5. One thing you should do with new rods is warm them up a bit. Quietly start shaking up and down, progress until you are shaking really hard. Get those molecules hoping.
  6. Mine was running like that last year, turns out mice made a nice little nest inside the air box. My guy said it happens often.
  7. You need to make a variety that you think will work in your situations. Color, size, shape, weight and anything else that matters to you. Now get 2 of the exact same rod, reel, line, snap swivel. And next year start casting and comparing. Report back when you have a conclusion.
  8. Heard GM is putting a baby diesel in the Cruze maybe trucks next.
  9. Your routines are the worst. Start the car buckle seat belt and smoke. Eat diner and smoke. Land a fish and smoke. Get a handle on how much food you eat. Ham Cheese Sandwiches on white bread and Cheeseburgers packed the lb's on me. Actively will distract you from cravings just not food. And cut your coffee down.
  10. I bought mine last fall. Found the sizes fine. No problem matching my roundness and short legs. Have issue with parachute hood over 50mph. Just recently found it has 2 stage draw string on hood. Will try it out.
  11. The Sun Derpy was won 2 years in a row Brown trout category Whitby pier. The next year Oshawa.
  12. Lake Ontario is the lowest I've seen ever. Keep working around you will find some fish. The mouth of that little creek on Brock st. might work.
  13. Anything in Lake Ontario could be caught in Whitby Harbor.
  14. I wear my Auto inflate lifejacket with my tether attached 80%. I don't take the jacket off so that forces me to us tether.
  15. Phantom has full line of slip floats clear plastic and balsam.
  16. Many interesting life styles in Port Hope.
  17. Still think the bearings are not loaded correctly. Spend your money. I would try to adjust it.
  18. I think the OP has had this reel apart and then not loaded the bearings correctly. What ever tightens the spool against the bearings might need the smallest adjustment. Giver a spin and tighten/loosen. This is also why going from 3's to 7's doesn't work most of the time. All the tolerances are for abec3 of this brand and maybe the 7's are slightly wider/narrow you can never get the bearings loaded correctly.
  19. Now that's a 70's setup.
  20. Generally I start 2x vis. So if vis. is 1 ft I start at 2ft. The virgin water is just below the white water where the drop off is. You need to practice this cast. So your float lands in the thin water above the drop off and your roe bag/bead/fly lands just at the drop off. Your bait will drop thru the white water as your float catches up. This gives you virgin water.
  21. Moth balls and Bounce sheets. Then I spray my tires and trailer with a weak solution of bleach and water. And the special treat I get mouse kill seed from TSC. Leave the box nice and flat if it's disturbed in the spring time to look around.
  22. I think the OP forgets when he was a teenager running up and down Oshawa Creek having the time of his life learning all this cool stuff. And when he was at university and couldn't go every day! WA Wa It's about access, somebody went to a whole bunch of meetings with the MNR, kept the presser on for more access, that was 30 years ago.
  23. I'm against No Kill areas. I'm against Fly Fishing Only. I'm against artificial only. And any other set of rules for the minority. I'm for more access for all anglers. Nothing makes me happier than a family catching a fish, taking it home, eating the fish and returning with roe bags and a few friends. That's value!
  24. The salmon lift at Bowmanville Creek required permits.
  25. Fishing should never be made more difficult. If you choose to use beads , fly's, plastic I'm happy for you. What I would like to know from you "Is how many people you seen harvesting a salmon for eating and future fishing". I really have no interest in that small percentage with low morals.
