I got talking to the electrician at Spring Fishing Show. 350K up front. Then Advertizing. Then insurance. Plus Staff. So 500k before you sell 1 ticket.
-
Use to be some old timers used dipping sticks like that for walleye on Rice.
-
Last years 500 was the worst race I've seen. They just lined up and everybody was afraid to make a move. Had to be the worst last 10 laps in Daytona history.

Weight distribution is always issue.

The easy answer is boat's run best at max HP. I quit selling boats at the boat show because you need to sell these under hp, under trailer, crap fish finders and 12volt trolling motors to people that are not going to be happy. There was a thread at the start of the boat show about what to expect, try to fined it. It's on pg 3 Toronto Boat Show

You said in OP that you set the line in the desirable depth. No that wasn't the desirable depth because you caught nothing. Fish Finder no fish finder you got to keep moving that bait around, you got to keep working until the fish say you have found the right depth and presentation.

So when you walk into the booth it's setup. The salesman walks over because it's his turn. Your 1st ? should be were is your dealership. If he is from Windsor and you are from Ottawa say no thanks. Have him send the guy over from your area. Next question you ask is what motor he supports. If that's not what you are interested in Say no thanks. Get the guy you want to talk to. Sportsman show deals usually are not that good.Usually the trailer is way to small, electronics are low end junk, trolling motor 12v and half size battery's. The good news is it's your time to up grade and all the info is there. Get your prices on electronics, trolling motors, downriggers, sideplanner mast and anything else that interest you. Now you are ready to check boats. Write everything on the contract. Salesman says he will throw a Lund hat in. Write it on the contract. Salesman says the trailer will have a spare. Write on the contract Spare tire included N/C. I sold boats for a few years at shows. You are going into a lions den be aware.

Interesting opinion/factoid about Mercs vs Yammies
Garnet replied to woodenboater's topic in General Discussion
I would say it's pretty even with my friends Merc Yammha. I've been in most of there boats. Performance about the same. More props available for merc. Yamaha's are just terrible to get parts for. -

NF! If you could spend a day with a celeb. who is it?

Celebrities to me "What do they fish for" I would like to go with Al on one of those 2 week fishing a dozen lakes. Don't care if they are making movies just want to fish with the whole group day after day. -
Yes that's what I'm telling you bass guys turn there timers on and keep fishing. Walleyes need constant fresh water. I wasn't even concerned about the air temps on Sunday. One hot day doesn't effect the water temp down 2 feet were most of our livewells draw water. Our fish were nice green color and healthy when we weight in. But I've talked to other competitors who's fish were in bad shape when weighted. If fish are weight in in bad shape bad things happen. We fished the main lake both days. I wouldn't have a problem with fishing in Goose Bay in those air temps and going out to the main lake. But I would never go back into Goose Bay. The whole thing just makes me sick and I think the last guy in a chain of events got screwed and the MNR just took the easy target.

I fished the tournament and my fish went to the scales in perfect condition, excellent color and lively. Mike is correct in you need to keep fresh water steady for walleyes. They are H2O hogs. A high percent of the anglers fishing this tournament were bass guys and I think they used their livewell timers and got there fish in trouble. If the anglers send fish to the scale in poor shape bad things happen. The live release boat should never get these fish and can't fix H2O depleted fish. So the last guy in the chain takes the hit and it should be the anglers. The organizer have done a decent job educating there participants on good livewell management and now scrutinize ever fish being weight in.

It's about 20 years to late for my interest. And I never seen them in any store I've been in. Likely the first swimbait I use their is just so many better ones now a days.

Most of these plant closing are related to the C$. You are high cost producer it's trouble. -
The real problem for me was you couldn't go buy 5 packs of white. You had to buy a stinking kit.
-
I won a walleye tournament on Rice with the perch color. It was a 60 and under so likely 100 boats.
-
I'm keeping my eye on Garmin. They bought a small company Impulse that has some features not available on lowrance or Birds. I had separate Finder and GPS on the deck of my boat LMS 330 I think. Just a little to much junk. And the networking thing with bigger screens is nice.

I like the community box. We lost our RR #6 box end of driveway 18 months ago. Not happy in the beginning but we never worry about stopping the mail when we travel and then going to post office to get it started again. I'm sure if we went away for a month we would need somebody to pick up every couple weeks. I don't order from US unless they send parcel post, the couriers are only a few days faster and way more expensive. -
I've had both birds and Gen 1 Lowrance. To me the birds menus are more straight forward, more tailor for fishing. My Gen 1 seems way more complicated and the book just gives me a headache. It seems to have sailing crap and other stuff that just complicates menus. But I think the graphics are better (especially in SI). They both have forward tracking (arrow in front of your position curse). The thing I always hated with birds is they have pages of transducer were Lowrance only has a couple.

I was going to fish J1 card or no card. Happy to say my new card was in the mail yesterday. It's been a week sense we got the mail so don't know when it got here.
-
Yes that's 1 ft shallower than most of Scugog. If you don't look.
-
They in force it for duck hunting.

Did the phone thing. Got thru 1st time, had to press 1 maybe 86 times and if my license doesn't show up by J1 I can't fish. I have the verification # so I will be on Simcoe, minden Area or the Ganny weather my licensee gets here or not.
