  1. Some great looking trout Luc! The last one is a fatty! Gearing up right now for tomorrow. Probably my last trip up to the park on the ice. The rest will be on the rivers! TDunn
  2. I was in Tofino this summer and I never noticed anybody fishing from shore or on piers. Only seen charter boats on the docks. There has to be somewhere to fish. Maybe contact the resort? Long Beach Resort looks sweettho! My dad lives in Vancouver and has stayed at the resort. He has said nothing but good things about the place. TDunn
  3. Only had the 6" with us that afternoon. It was a little hairy when the fish was beneath the hole but Mike did a good job landing the fish safely once I got its head started up the hole. Next time we will have both the 6" and 8". Thanks for all the great comments!
  4. I fished Port D once....I had the same problem. Nice fish! TDunn
  5. Well the past week hasn't had to much fishing involved for me. Last saturday afternoon, I hit a bay on Superior with two buddies looking to catch a few whities. Nothing. Not even a touch and only marked 5-6 fish in 3-4 hours.... Monday afternoon, I got back out on another bay. Only this time I was on the St. Marys. We weren't looking for whities either. Steelhead and perch were the targets. Usually at this spot, we hit steelhead in 6ft of water or so and about 30 -40 feet away in 16-18ft of water we catch perch. The perch were steady throughout the afternoon with a couple good flurries that kept us busy. Mike brought some home to eat. Ended up landing 1 steelhead that afternoon. The fish hit a Northland Gypsi Jig tipped with a waxie. Works great either jigged or deadsticked. This fish hit a deadstick and measured in just shy of 33". What a fight! I was hoping to get back out there before this weekend but it is not looking good. Honey-do list and a few other things are going to keep me off the water until saturday. Ive been fishing my girlfriends camp for 8 years during the summer months but have never made it up there on the ice. This weekend that will change. Heading up just north of Hornepayne for 5 days or so of relaxing and hopefully some awesome pike/walleye fishing. Then its back to steelhead! TDunn
  6. Hmmm... I'd say completely master a spinning reel then move on to either a bastcasting set-up or a pin. Learn the basics of manipulating your float with a spinning reel and gain some confidence before you start pinning/baitcasting. I found it nice that I already knew where fish were when I started out with a centerpin. I wasnt dealing with learning how to read water and how to pin all at once.... TDunn
  7. I had a 6"6 triumph! From what I remember it was a fairly stiff rod and I did like it for jerkbaits. Only used it twice tho. Someone has a new St.Croix and Daiwa baitcasting combo that they found on highway 17... TDunn
  8. Hey Sean! Looking forward to some pics from ya! TDunn
  9. Hitting Superior in an hour! Chasing whities and jumbos! TDunn
  10. I would check out the Raven IM8 forsure! I own a 12'6 Raven Matrix and for the money I paid for it. No complaints. I think it was $149.99 at the time and has landed me enough fish to get my $150 worth. I'm about to order the IM9 or RV9 and a new SST-3 myself! Can't wait! TDunn
  11. Irish, Please PM me your address. I would like to help. I know 2 people with colitis. 1 of them was diagnosed only 3 weeks ago. Awful disease to say the least, TDunn
  12. Not to many reports seem to get me to laugh but this one sure did. Sweet pics of your twin brother and family! Awesome browns!
  13. Just a quick report and pictures of some my recent outings. Overall fishing hasn’t been great. Tough conditions and finicky fish are famous for February, so I have been trying to make the best of it. Seems to be the trend.... The perch and other panfish have been steady with good catches on most outings. Pike on the other hand have been my biggest disappointment of the season. There has been 3 pike hooked in the 35-42" range in the past 2-3 weeks and each one has been on perch gear. Tip-ups are always out with dead bait and quick strikes which have been catching fish just not the big ones. Ive also been jigging for them with lipless cranks, big spoons and white tubes....yet they hit the smallest jigging rapala tipped with a waxie on my ultralight? This body of water has a pike season that closes on tues until may 1. Bummer.... Anyways the perch should continue to bite consistently and if I have the itch for pike in March. There is a spot off Superior I have in mind... Some good eats... Up north we are getting a few whities mixed in with the perch Getting up to the park has been interesting the past 2 weeks. Highways have been closed, snow squall driving conditions and a freezing cold wind has been the ordinary up until late. A cousin and I, took to the bush one afternoon snowshoeing a mile or so into a lake for the afternoon bite. Dr.S mentioned to me that he had fished the area and 40 fish days were not uncommon. Well he was right on the money, we landed about 20 on our half day session. No trophies but some outstanding action and some good looking fish. Biggest went 17". Micro tubes tipped with waxies, minnow heads and 1” Gulp worked awesome and a Storm Jigging Wildeye or Jigging Rap tipped with the same also produced for us. All but 1 fish released... Coughing these up! We headed for a great lake in LSPP again but due to poor walking conditions we had to resort to Plan B. This lake gets pounded and isn't known for great fishing but we made due. Took a good ride out of town and hit a lake with inland rainbows. Had a good buddy that was home for the weekend with us on this afternoon. When we finally hooked into a fish he was handed the rod. Boy was he happy with this inland beauty! Video of the last few minutes of the fight! Bow Fight The next few weeks are going to really heat up. I’m already excited for last ice and the upcoming thaw! Steelhead are on my mind..... TDunn

  20. This is all Wenebegon! ATV ride in Ive also stayed at Five Mile. Never in a cabin but pitched a tent there before. Fishing was ok....I'd talk to Mike (I think thats his name....dude with really long hair) the owner and he will give you directions to some great pike fishing....I took his advice and we had a fantastic day on a lake that might be fished only a few times a year... TDunn
  21. Nice fish Ben! Especially love the big lakers, WOW! Could I get a link to the video? TDunn
  22. Nice! Beauty laker forsure. Tried to get up to LSPP yesterday but the OPP had a road block at Heyden due to the weather. I wonder how much snow the park was nailed with... Heyden had a fresh, foot of snow at 5:30am yesterday! TDunn
