  1. I have found that it also depends on the time of season. I generally do better with smaller baits in the spring due to the fact that : a) I am more confident with them The predators are keying in on the young of the year hatch, and spawning shiners, etc. However, as most here have said, it all depends. After a while you get a pretty good idea of what to use at what time. As long as you're throwing something at them, you've got a chance.
  2. Nice report Jedi, looks like an action packed day!
  3. I know, it cracks me up, all I hear from Leaf fans is how Ottawa always chokes in the playoffs. Like sucking all year and not even making the playoffs is better. Right.
  4. Congrats on a succesful trip! Nice specks dude.
  5. Thanks guys, I wish you were all coming with me! Cheers
  6. Thanks Ron! It'd be great it if you and Wayne were joining us, too bad you couldnt make it. Apreciate the well wishes and we'll try not to let you down! Man I'm chomping at the bit..... How was Rice yesterday? Cheers

  10. Hey! I recognize that blue box! The last time I saw it the wind was driving it down the road at about 60mph....Thanks for snagging it for me Wayner!!! I'll pick it up in July.... Have fun!!!
  11. Yea, I called Kevin and he said so far we are still good to go......hope so.
  12. Just curious, why would you say that? Are pike inferior game fish in your eyes? At least they are native to our province, unlike some salmonoids and trouts I could name that people get all bent out of shape about keeping. Nice report BTW. Looks like a great day out!
  13. Hopefully, an English teacher.....
  14. Great report, sweet pics and nice fish. Thanks for sharing that!

  17. You sure that wasnt a dream?
  18. LOL, yea, very good point. I was just going through some tackle today and there are no memories in soft plastic baits. The minnow baits are an altogether different story. Sorting through them tonight brought back many good memories while looking at the battle worn lures.
  19. Thanks for the heads up Tom. We are supposed to be heading to Gearys place (Red Lake area) for the opener. Sure would suck if we got cancelled.
  20. Man Wayne, time flies huh? Glad to see you got her done, enjoy your time at the cottage and I look forward to seeing you again at Lakair, then Temagami in July/August. I'm counting on you to let me know where I can nail some of those elusive Temagami walleye.......so actually, your work hasnt even started yet!
  21. I like the slightly smaller ones Mike, like 5-6". I have always done well on soft jerkbaits for pike up north. My fav colours are white, yellow and chartreuse. Fluke super jerks or manns draggin jerk seem to do the trick for me. I fish them with no weight at all, I can fish them any way I want then, swim them across the surface, or slow down and go deeper with jerks and pauses. I tell you, the pike love em!
