  1. Lol Gerritt, imagine the trouble I'd be in if she were animated.....
  2. Well their poaching certainly wasnt a result of being a member of OFAH, thats for sure, but I feel no desire to be associated with an organization that has members like this. Simple enough really....
  3. I was a faithful member for many years too, but I do have a problem in that they cant seem to police the membership. Every single convicted local poacher that I know, which at this point stands at 6 individuals was a member of this organization. Somehow, I doubt that is a regional thing and I know it is nothing I want to be associated with.
  4. Nice fatty! Thanks for the vid.
  5. Yea you do, there is always choice....
  6. Well, you are kinda right Gerritt. The reverse osmosis water is very aggresive and will eat copper lines, no question about it. Plus they waste a lot of water in the process, something ridiculous like 3 gallons to produce one. At any rate, thats why most people have the ro water only run to one tap, usually at the kitchen sink plumbed in with plastic pipe- no problems. I think all this ro stuff is overkill for the average home but it has its applications. Water hardness will generally be dictated by where the water is drawn from. Groundwater from wells will usually be harder and contain larger amounts of things like iron that gets picked up as it filtres through the ground strata, water drawn from lakes and rivers will be softer as a rule. Rain water is true soft water.
  7. You know I'd gnaw that tree down for ya bud! Just gotta find the time.
  8. I know you said enough with books but I have found the In-Fisherman series of walleye books ( not video, I always find more hero shots and less info in videos) to be pretty good guides that cover most types of water and appropriate ways/times to fish it.
  9. Hey Chris, way to step up, thats a beatiful pup. Congrats.
  10. Wow, noodling whities, girl, you are something else! Great report Joey, congrats on your first whities...
  11. Those are some nice looking slabs!
  12. Nice fish! Congrats on the pb.
  13. How about slowly suffocating and gasping for air? Perhaps being eviscerated while still alive? I feel if I am to kill an animal in order to feed myself, it deserves more respect than that. Kill em quick and then put em on ice.
  14. Is it true that your time at good old Northern was the hardest 10 years of your life?..........
  15. She's beautiful Rich. I'm sure she'll be a worthy companion for you over the years.
  16. Oh Rich, that is so sad. I know how it is and I feel for you. I'm sorry....
  17. Thanks TBB
  18. Yea, I had a great time. It was nice stopping in and chatting with Bernie for a while and seeing his operation. I was hoping to bring a couple of eaters home, and thought we'd do real well since Wayne and I were on to fish the first hour but I guess with the unstable weather patterns (nothing to do with our fishing skills...lol) it was a tough bite. I'm definitely going to take a page from Ron and Llloyds' book next year and bring some smaller stuff for the whitefish. On another note, I bought one of those Pack Shacks last year and this was the first trip I have actually used it on (C'mon, it was minus 31!) and it fell apart the second day, so be careful if you are thinking of getting one. Mind you, it was pretty comfortable untill then. As always, there were lots of laughs and friendly teasing regarding each others fishing prowess. Great bunch of guys to wet a line with and I look forward to future trips.
  19. Lol Roy, if you only knew...... Hey Bernie, great to see you all had a good time. It was nice visiting with you and thanks for the literature....
  20. Its nice to see idiots like that get nailed. Hopefully our court system wont mess up when it comes to sentancing/fining them.
  21. Yea man, that kid is awesome, love the enthusiasm!
  22. So I was getting ready to soak my sore knee after sorting out my tackle for my upcoming ice trip and I was wondering what I could use to float my transducer. I have a Lowrance X67C and have found the supplied transducer holder both awkward to use and just a general pain. Then it came to me and the beautiful thing is, you can just steal the stuff from your kid, or your neighbours kid. However, since I am just like a kid, I already had the stuff kicking around.. Here are the things you'll need, a noodle a sharpened pencil or section of dowel and a knife to cut said noodle. First, cut an 1 1/2" piece off the noodle as shown. Then, pierce the cut section of noodle untill the pencil pokes through into the middle. Double over your transducer cable and slide it into the centre of the noodle. Once the loop is in, or even through, push the pencil between the doubled over cable. You now have an easily adjustable transducer float. Trim the pencil off if you wish. The darn thing even floats and hangs just right!
  23. That pic of the birds impression in the snow is awesome.
  24. Looks like fun, I cant wait to get out!
