  1. I loved watching the Habs dismantle Boston the past 2 games. I may not be a Habs fan, but when the cup is on the line it's always better in Canada. Boston uses the exact same breakout over and over and they cough it up half the time. The other half, their forwards skate directly to the outside wings and take a long, weak, wrist shot. You know, it seems as though the Bruins almost lack a speedy sniper on wing, or is it just me? As well, Tim Thomas, the supposed top goalie in the NHL beginning this season looks very average against this Habs team. Also, so what you want about PK. When have you ever seen a player that was able to get under peoples skin and take them off their game AND be a top player for their position. Like it or not, PK is turning out to be a great player on both the offensive and defensive sides of his game, in addition to being a frustrating "Sean Avery" like personality.
  2. Haha, nice little 'cuda. I think I will try one out and see. The majority of people all say the same thing; what you lose in finger comfort you gain in excellent castability. Thanks for the advice
  3. There are a lot of myths and misinformation on the internet about these new textured fly lines. There tends to be conflicting sources on a few issues, so I thought I would bring the conversation to OFC: - After a long day on the water, will your stripping finger become sore and raw from the constant abrasion on the line? Some reviewers stated their fingers nearly fell off, others said this was complete Bull. What do you guys think? - do the micro pores on the line hold dirt more than regular (non-textured) lines? Again, some reviewers claim that dirt doesn't easily splash off, others claim it is Bull. - A review I read claimed that the micro pores "held on" to air bubbles, thus increasing the lines floatability, but according to the reviewer, once the line drifts through rough water, the line actually sinks more than standard SA lines. Any experience with this? - Does anyone notice an actual improved difference in castability? Thanks in advance for any clarifications, OFC.
  4. Ice is gone, today was very choppy and windy. Most guys said they werent finding the crappie. We need another warm spell
  5. I started with an Okuma, but IMO Raven makes better entry level pins for the cost. Look at Matrix special editions, I think they are new this year, at a great price (less than 200$, I think 160-180 but don't quote me), and they run great. I also know Gagnon's had a great sale on Sheffield pins during their sale, but I'm not sure what they are costing now. As with most gear, you get what you spend. If you want a pin that will last 1-2 years, look at entry level stuff. If you are convinced that you are hooked on pinning, I recommend spending a little more on something that will last you longer. I'm a fan of investing on gear, and reaping the benefits through maintenance and taking care of your gear. Check out your local tackle shop, feel a reel for yourself, check eBay/kijiji/craigslist, and always read reviews. If you come across a good deal for quality equipment I say jump on it. I just got my new GLX and SST combo and I can't wait to last my first steelie on it!! Good luck!
  6. 59 000 000 / 60 000 000 of those are from me. You guys need to pick up the slack!
  7. There is fantastic fishing in this area. Start at the Bait and Tackle in Magnetewan, I'm sure they can point you in the right direction. There are lots of big Pike and Walleye in Ahmic, but finding them is pretty tricky.
  8. You guys all sound like the old guy from Corner Gas. What is the problem here?
  9. Great point. Also, given a sudden zombie apocalypse, obviously the slow ones get eaten first.
  10. Nice fish! Looks like it's time to tie some sucker spawn fly patterns
  11. That is ridiculous, glad they nailed the guy. It's a shame the MNR can't be funded in such a way that allows for checks like this to be done daily, on several waterways.
  12. Nice box indeed
  13. Gorgeous reel seat on that rod... I'll have to try those chartreuse and white fly patterns sometime. Nice fish! Thanks for the report
  14. Hit up a few eastern tribs today. The bite was slow but most deep pools had 1 or 2 fish. Lost a ~15" brown on the river bank while waiting for a camera man but the last steelie made up for it. All fish were caught on brown roe and swam away to be caught again. Check out the nice colourations on this hen Grabbed a new Sage VT2 9'5 8 wt for a great deal and 3880 reel, next report will be on the fly! Cheers
  15. LOL, you and I are in the same boat.
  16. The best way to learn anything is to synthesize advice and practice it for yourself. Nothing will teach you about leader length better than trying it for yourself.
  17. LOL and I thought I had tackle addiction issues. I have a lot of catching up to do!
  18. This shot has to be one in a million. Too bad there's those icicles (I think?) in the foreground, otherwise awesome shot man!!
  19. Nice fish!
  20. OM NOM NOM, who doesn't love otters?
  21. Pretty sure they could have added Barrie Colts logos and achieved the desired effect as well Just kidding
  22. I've been doing this with my neoprene's for the past 6 months ... yeah I need new waders..
  23. The University of Alabama logos are icing on the cake!!!
  24. Nice game shots! I agree that Joey Krabb has lots of potential. He has tons of work ethic and can skate his butt off. I was under the impression that DSLR's were ok at the ACC so long as they don't record video or take continuous shots. I guess there is a max lens size too? Good to know! Thanks for the report.
