My deepest condolences to you and your family. Losing a family member is always tragic, but the memories you shared together will last a lifetime.

Those are some great shots Dave! I can see that you are putting your new telephoto to good use. My favourite is the third shot of the tree sparrow. Cheers bud

Knock off? No way. It's hardly a knock off as it was released half a year before the 4S, and still has more powerful hardware, better camera, and the best part is you don't get your boys in a vice, which is exactly what buying an Apple product means. External memory slots to increase the digital capacity... Tons and I mean TONS more freeware apps including completely fresh operating systems... More customizability and control across the board. I ditched my stock OS, installed a new Boot OS and overclocked my phone to 1.5ghz. That's nearly 30% faster than the 4S. I also cleared all of the garbage "filler" that phone companies preload on all phones (Bell apps, ect...) If you want a a great phone that serves most basic user needs, get an iPhone. If you want a great phone that allows you much more freedom and less restrictions, get an Android.

I'm so glad people have decided to quote me out of context. I was rebutting the claim that fly fisherman are nothing but artistic flossers, and it has been warped to become a completely different discussion. For the record, I'm not a fly elitist... I was merely firing back at someone who made a ridiculous and insulting claim. Happy fishing

If it looks, smells, feels fishy.... it probably is. Your intuition is your best friend.

Welcome aboard to the board! From one steelheader to another, the more (non-descript) pictures, the better! People are always seeking float fishing advice and it's great that we have such an evolving base of experts. Cheers!

You were selling quality gear at great prices. If people low-ball you, just laugh and move on. Cheap people will always try to be cheap. If I didn't buy a GLX last season, I'd be all over that Rainshadow. ps. I'm seriously mulling over the fly reel, but I take gear purchases very, very seriously.

Nice fish!! We rarely see musky reports like this anymore and they are always a pleasure to read. My gf didn't believe me that freshwater fish get that big in Ontario.. until I showered her these pics. She's going to think twice before letting her Yorkie go for a swim! cheers

I've seen entire families leave rivers with a shopping cart filled to their limit with some of the nastiest, blackest, rotting salmon that I've ever seen. I asked, "what are you going to do with those?", to which the only reply I was given was "...soup". I don't take pity on people that give themselves cancer. -
After all the debate over posting specific locations has been touched on over and over (and over), why are threads like this allowed to (apparently) violate the rules? They would be easier to follow if they were enforced consistently.

I always thought that weighing fish was stupid. So I catch a 20" bass and weigh it and the scale says 4 lbs. Then I catch a 18" bass that just happened to eat a few minnows before I caught it, and it weighs in at 4.5 lbs... is this a more formidable catch? No Measuring the length of the fish is a much more valid measure of your catch. Unless it matters, like in a tournament, I don't think the weight should really matter. Instead of shoving a blunt hook up it's gill plate, just measure it and let it go.

What channel will this be on? I know TSN/Sportsnet won't have it... what about Leafs TV?

Welcome aboard!

Haha, yep that's mine. I took that pic while fishing with Amundson's Ontario rep (who is also a member on OFC) and he asked he could use it as a promo. Never tried the TCR's but I've used a WW Feather Lite and was very pleased. For the price, it has a great drag and is very light.

First combo is Sage, 9' 8 wt VT-2 paired with 3880 CF. Second is Amundson, 12' 7-8wt paired with Trend 9/10. Ps. I love the fact that someone recognized the Amundson as this is one of my favourite "lesser known" fly companies.

Do fly reels count? Ok, fine! Have a pin

Turtles always scared the crap out of me as a kid. Imaging being 10, swimming at the cottage, and being greeted by a 100lb killer neo-dinosaur with a shell the size of an tractor trailer hub cap. Add the fact that we are practically the only humans that they ever see, and have very little fear of people and you have one terrified little boy

I'm surprised more people aren't going on about barbless musky hooks considering how passionate people are about these fish. If bolt cutters are an ethical requirement, and the fish is all fragile and delicate, why not fish with 100% barbless hooks so after you cut them, they can fall out easier? Also, wouldn't it be easier to release a musky as quickly as possible without even taking it out of the cradle with barbless? These hooks are usually huge, so this seems logical to me.

Only in America .....do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

These memories will last a lifetime. Good on you for taking the time to remember them. Those pics will last a lifetime. PS. give him a couple years, and you will be amazed at how he can outfish you on any given outing. Kids have that special touch! cheers
