  1. If going to rent, go through an agency it is worth every penny! The guy two doors down from us just bought his place last year and decided to rent it out himself. He has it advertised @ $1200.00 a week. It is a 3 bedroom cottage with a very old septic system. Last weekend we counted 12 cars, 20 plus young people who partied until 3 am., were climbing over our fences at 11:30 at night looking for their dog, screaming and yelling, foul language. There is a family on the other side of them with two young kids, the rest of us are older but have to get up and go to work in the morning. The owner and I are going to be having a little talk next time I see him. It sounds like in your situation it is a little more isolated but you really don't want to get a bunch of jerks in there for a week and end up pissing off the locals, they could make life very uncomfortable.
  2. So very sad, how do you live with something like that? There is more going on here than what we have been told. Someone falls out of a boat even in rough water and you can't find them?
  3. It's a little stream about an hours drive North of here, sorry I can,t be more specific, this is only my second trip back in there but where we launch the canoes you wouldn't think there was much more than a ditch, as soon as you get around the first bend, it opens up into a beautiful stream and seems to go for miles. Nice going on the walleye, what did you get them on?
  4. Friday I helped a neighbour by fixing his lawn mower for him, we got talking and he told me he is selling his place and having a huge garage sale. He asked if I knew anyone looking for a canoe. Well as many of you know I was. It is exactly what I was looking for, nice and stable, not too heavy and all he wanted was $50.00. I walked over to his place and paddled it home. Last night some friends were over for dinner and Jim asked if I would like to go trout fishing with him this morning. Had canoe, was willing to go (didn't take much arm twisting) Jim picked me up (he has a truck) and away we went. It couldn't have been more beautiful, no one else around, the bugs weren't bad, and the fish were biting. We fished from about 8 until 12 and I caught 6 and missed a couple of more, here are the 4 I kept. (the board is 14" long)
  5. Coffee all over keyboard LOL (through the nose). That was too funny!
  6. Trout, walleye, salmon, species isn't too important and I'm not a "record" kind of guy, I'd be happy with good numbers of decent fish. I have fished the West coast and a lot of points in Ontario and Quebec. Loved salmon fishing but the numbers were few, sizes large. How far would I be willing to travel to the jump off point? Either coast is within limites. The most important thing to me is the quality of the trip 4-6-8-24 hours are just small numbers in the whole picture.
  7. OK, my 65th birthday is coming up in January and I would like to do something special in the way of a fly in fishing trip so I am looking for some ideas. Here is what I am looking for: First class all the way, superb fishing and accomodations with a guide and camp cook and I don't mean some schmo that makes a good stew, like I said first class! I don't want to have to clean a fish, wash a plate, or cook anything. All I want to do is go and fish till my arms hurt, eat until my belly hurts, (and if I feel like it, drink until my head hurts). This is going to be a "once in a life time" for me and I would like it to be something I can always look back on with fond memories. So, where better to start than right here. Lets hear your ideas and thoughts onn this one.
  8. PM me the information, I have a very good contact with an enforcement officer in the MOE. Your name will never be mentioned! If it is a problem it will be delt with, if it isn't a problem, no harm done but a good deed either way.
  9. Respect is what it is all about! Good on both of you!
  10. Kipor = Honda I have worked on Kipor Generators. Excellent units! Honda engines (doesn't say Honda on it)3500W should give you everything you need with a little care.
  11. Hit Lindsay at about 4:55 it is now on the West side of Peterborough. hit us with heavy rain, high winds, dust devils. You wouldn't know there had even been a storm now 5:24 pm. Stay safe all!
  12. You can't put two Cliffs in a boat for a day of fishing and not have a good day LOL. BTY, I really liked the way you ducked and rolled when Sue yelled CLIFF!!!!!! Good thing we went in opposite directions Anyway my friend, the door is always open and you know the way.
  13. LOL, might be but the neighbour's old boat has the same curse! He usually catches plenty and he isn't doing any better than I am.
  14. Well, I went back out again this morning, more perch, a nice small mouth and a few rock bass. Came home and decided to try a couple of casts off the dock, a 42" muskie and a LM, didn't weigh it but it was a good one. Twenty minutes later, another muskie hits, clears the water snaps my line. Now my wife wants to know why I needed a new boat last year.
  15. CCMT came up for the day and we braved the rain in the morning and headed out. It was a perfect day for fishing, over cast, mixed winds, sun shine for a bit. We started fishing in abour 5 fow and worked weed edges, heavy weeds sparce weeds all the way out to about 14 fow. We tossed all kinds of things at them, spinners, drop shotting, cranks, bottom bouncing jigs, different colours (yellow seemed to be the colour of the day). We lost count of the number of fish we landed, perch for the most part but did manage 4 crappie, 3 of which weren't a bad size. We fished hard from about 11 until to about 9:30 pm with a few short breaks for lunch and supper but couldn't manage a single walleye. The streak continues LOL. Anyway it was a wonderful day on the water with a good friend and we sure tried hard enough! Really enjoyed your company Cliff, lets do it again soon!
  16. Anything but Sturgeon!
  17. I am so very sorry for your loss, it's obvious that he loved you as much as you loved him. That was a beautiful tribute! Keep him in your heart forever!
  18. As long as there are lots of pictures
  19. That would explain why (if the story is true) it got burried. I wonder if they will be fixing that law now?
  20. I can't confirm this, I wasn't there but the story goes: a local farmer called the MNR complaining that a cougar was attacking his calfs. The MNR insisted that there were no cougars in this area, it must be a dog or coyote bothering his calfs. The farmer told them that if that was the case he would just shoot it, they told him to go ahead but if it was a cougar they would charge him because cougars are protected. Now why would they say that if they didn't think there were cougars in this area? Apparently they figured he should just file a claim for compensation. Last I heard, he did shoot it and it got burried in the back of his farm and it sure wasn't a dog or coyote. How can the MNR charge someone for shooting something that doesn't exist?
  21. My last payment is due next week. Only Question I have is "why do all the cheques be made out to "TERRY"?"
  22. Ya, well the topic could be "how to catch a fish when all else fails"
  23. Really sorry to hear that news but everything that happens, happens for a reason, perhaps now we will have two great shows to watch instead of only one. I hope you will post on here when you start looking for guest hosts, I'd love to know more. A fan of you both! Big Cliff
  24. Well, the one thing you have to admit, I'm consistant LOL. I didn't tarnish my record again this weekend
  25. I have been waiting to see the reports!
