Northern Reflections here in Lindsay is looking for someone part time. Sue works there and loves it. Here is the information: The person I am looking for needs to be outgoing, friendly and available to work two evening shifts per week and a couple of weekends per month. If they want more hours, there are weekday shifts available as well. Hours per week would be between 16 - 24 (possibly 30 during peak times and holidays if they want the extra hours). This person must also be able to wear our clothes (which they would get 50% off of as soon as they are hired). They would have to start at minimum wage ($10.25 per hour) until their 3 month probation is up and if they work out as a keyholder, they would get a raise at the end of the 3 months. PM or email me resumes if you know someone that would be interested. [email protected]

All the very best to you beautiful! Hope you have a wonderful day!

My first thought when I read her post is that she'd be married for a year then take the guy for half of everything he owns and live happily ever after. Not once did she mention love, commitment, growing old together. I suspect that the reason she hasn't found someone yet is because about 10 minutes into a date any guy worth 500K + a year has already figured out that she is so into herself, there wouldn't be anyway she could love someone else! Sad actually.

EZLoader Trailers are MFG. by Barrett Marketing here in Lindsay and believe me, they carry a huge inventory. The next time you have a problem with one of their trailers and a dealer gives you the run around, call Barrett directly or give me a shout. They take a lot of pride in taking care of customers! I'm not trying to say that the dealer(s) aren't doing their jobs but sometimes what might seem like a big deal to you doesn't seem like a big deal to the dealer especially if there isn't any money to be made.

OK, call me on my cell phone and let me know either way, that way if the dealer doesn't come through for you I might still be able to get one out of here for you today. 705-928-8899 Cliff

No problem, just let me know if the dealer doesn't come through for you. I might just slip in there today and see anyway so you do have a back up plan if necessary.

Just had a really nice email from Middleton Cross Bows

The draw weight on the 375 is 245 lbs but I use the cocking aid, I'm 64 and I don't have any trouble cocking it. It is a lot more money though typically about $750.00 but a friend of mine just bought one c/w illuminated scope, case, quiver, arrows spare batteries for the scope.... $1100.00 taxes in. -

What part of it did they copy? The shape? If it is a copy, why is the Middleton faster and harder hitting. Why do they tell you to never leave an Excalibur strung while in your car; because the limbs could warp. Middleton uses a totally different limb technology, they don't have that problem. I'm not trying to say that Excaliber isn't a good product but when I decided to buy a crossbow I did a LOT of research and tried both products, I found the Middleton to be the better product IMHO. I didn't put this post on here to try to bad mouth Excaliber, simply to let anyone that is interested in buying a crossbow that if they want an opportunity to talk to the President of the company he will be at the store in Belleville. Nothing more, nothing less! From there, they can make their own decisions! I wonder if the President of Excaliber takes the time to get out there and talk to his customers right in the store on a weekend? I wonder if he sends his customers personal emails? Do they give you a full lifetime warranty on their products? -
Can't help you with the fishing report but EZloader is right here in Lindsay and I use to work for them years ago but I still know some of the guys in there. What trailer do you have? Do you happen to have the PN for what you need? Is it just the brngs. or do you need the whole wheel hub assy.? I could stop in there tomorrow and see if I can get it, put it on Canada Post Express, you should have it by Tuesday (as long as they have one in the plant).

Not looking too good for opener in the Kawarthas

Looked out the window a few times yesterday and watched the rain and snow squalls coming across the lake and guys out there in boats. There is no way in this world I want to catch a fish that badly. I was hoping I could get out today but woke up this morning, Temp. 0°C, winds climbing to 30K, looks and feels like mid Nov. out there! -

Yes, they are about the same price Not only that Brian, the limb technology is IMHO far superior to any of the other makes I have seen. I had the pleasure of seeing their manufacturing facility this spring. I was very impressed with the care that is taken in the whole production process. They also come with a life time warranty! -

It is rated at 375 but when we checked it, it was 380. -
It seems that CTC in Belleville will now be carrying Middleton Cross Bows. Derrick Middleton (the President)will be at the Belleville store from next Thursday to Sunday so if you are thinking about buying a cross bow at all, get in there to see him. He is an extreamly knowledgable man and a real pleasure to talk with. (and no, I don't work for Middleton, am not getting any comission, or perks). I do own one of their cross bows though and would put it up against any other cross bow on the market! (I may just have to make a sales call down there next week myself )

Lunge Haven have pumps. -
Sorry, that is a big job and I am so booked up right now I wouldn't even be able to start on it until the fall. As far as "used parts" don't bother going there, if you are going to spend the money to have it repaired do it properly. A patch job is just going to cost you more money in the long run.

Cold front + thunder showers/rain + 30K winds out of the NW = not a very good opening weekend for our our area. I've been watching the forecast all week, my kids were going to come down to spend the weekend fishing with me but we decided to hold off until next weekend (that is better anyway, we'll get an extra day out of it ) We have some friends coming from Goderich for the weekend but he doesn't care if we get out fishing or not so we may just spend some time getting fat and playing some cards. Oh well there are worse things in life LOL.

Electric Lawn Mower and small engine repair
Big Cliff replied to charlesn's topic in General Discussion
You might get away with just draiming the fuel but if it was sitting that long then the jets are probably plugged with varnish. If you want to bring it up here I can fix it for you. Those batteries are Gel Cells and don't develop a memory but it is important to make sure you follow the Mfg. charging suggestions. If it still doesn't come close to the specs. then take it back, you could have a defective battery. Get it replaced under warranty. -
I think he just did!

Just got word today that a girl that I grew up with, actually her grandfather and my dad were best friends and after my dad died her grandfather was my mentor. Jane was only 61 years old and while we had lost touch for a few years while we were getting married and raising our families about 30 years ago we found each other kind of by accident and sort of stayed in touch after that. About 10 years ago when we moved up here to the Kawarthas, Jane was living just across the lake from us and I would stop in and see her from time to time. We always had such wonderful conversations and could make each other laugh no matter what was going on in our lives. She was the kindest sweetest person you could ever hope to meet. If you were hungry, she would feed you, needed a place to stay; her door was always open, needed someone to talk to, she would always listen, had an animal that needed rescuing, she was there (at times her house looked like a zoo) LOL. Jane hadn't been well for the last few years, operations for this and that, always in pain but always had a smile. I suspected there was something seriously wrong about 8 months ago when I stoped by and she was curled up in her favorite chair with a blanket around her, it was a warm day. She struggled to get up to go and put a pot of coffee on and I ended up doing it for her, she was obviously in a lot of pain. Just before Christmas she confided in me that they had found a tumor on her spine and she was going to have to go for radiation. She was scared! We had many talks in the next few weeks about hope, cures, and the big "what if"! The radiation really took it's toll on her, she couldn't eat, was in so much pain that sometimes she could hardly smile but smile she always did. Sometimes she even managed to laugh at my corny jokes! After the first round of radiation, she started to seem to go down hill faster, then they found more tumors on her neck and more radiation. That was only about a month ago. On her way to one of her treatments she went to get out of the car and her hip broke. They operated. then they found out that when she had fallen, she had also broken her neck; they operated on that. She was transfered back here to Lindsay about two weeks ago from Kingston so her family and friends could be close and she passed away today about 1:00 pm. her kids were by her side. The world has just lost another good one! she will be missed by many but never forgotten!

If I was in charge of the MNR, I would...
Big Cliff replied to Headhunter's topic in General Discussion
I'd put the CO's on a base salary and comissions, increase the fines and include jail time for anyone caught with excess fish over their legal limit. Something like 1 year for every fish over the limit. I'll bet that would curb a lot of over harvesting in a hurry! With the extra revenue generated I'd hire more COs. I would impliment a test procedure for a person to get a fishing license, you would have to pass a test based on knowledge of the regulations and be able to identify the different species. I would also limit fishing to residents within a 50 mile radius of the body of water they are fishing or they would have to pay an "out of area fee". Oh wait, they tried that in the UK and it was too hard to manage. OK, scrap that one. On a brighter note, I was just told today that there is at least one OPP officer in the Kawarthas that is an avid fisherperson and will not tolerate any violations of the fishing regulations in the area! For the OPP! -
allergy issues.... help please!?!
Big Cliff replied to pike n' whities's topic in General Discussion
I talked with a very prominant physician about this very topic and he said two things: Honey, but see your Dr. As for a couple of shots before going to bed; don't do it, it can dehydrate you and also could, long term cause kidney damage. A Dr. may also suggest a sleep study to see if you have sleep apnea. This could be causing you to breath through your mouth at night causing the dryness and also loss of sleep. Only a Dr. can really help you and if you are having problems and can't get in to see a Dr. go to emerge. This could be a lot more serious than just uncomfortable! -
That is the way I read it, first Friday after the opening for zone 17.

I had the same question a couple of years ago and finally went and got an old survey. It is the old train tracks!
