You need to live where we do, about the only noises you hear around here are the loons, coyoties, that sort of thing. We are lucky I guess, deer still wander through our yard from time to time and most of the people that live around here are quiet and respectful of each others privacy.

When I lived up in French River many years ago I use to love taking my rifle or fishing rod and just walking off into the bush, never knew where I would end up or when I'd come back out. There are still many places you can do that sort of thing but you do have to go further North to find them. I'm 66 now and can't quite go for as long or as far as I use to but I still love just going and sitting in my deer stand for hours at a time and watch nature do it's thing.

Several years ago I got tired of trying to get American Express to stop sending me "pre approved" credit card applications so one day as a lark I applied for one in my dogs name and one in my son's name and sent them in. Both got approved, my son was only 15 at the time, (Sandy was about 4 people years old so I might have put down 28 for her age) and neither had never had a full time job at that point. Difference was his and my names are the same, same address, etc.. He was a little pissed at me when I wouldn't let him use it LOL. When I called American Express they were more than happy to cancell the cards and put me on their "do not send list". Apart from that now I just toss it in the recycle bin. It isn't worth my time to do much else with it.

All those people that I asked to evaluate NokOut for me
Big Cliff replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
Thanks guys, testomonials are great but if there are any articles that have been published that would really help! I do have an email from Brice Folden of Wild TV saying that they have evaluated it and are quite happy to endorce the product but more is better! Can't tell you all how much I appreciate your help! Cliff -
Ok, (always glad to help whenever I can, if you have patience, I've got determination LOL). This may sound stupid, are you a member of the Niagara Falls Library, do you have a membership card/number? If so, and the site is just down, I would call them and find out when the site will be back up and on line, it might already be. Apart from that you will have to go into Adobe Digital Editions or Overdrive and set yourself up (both are free and Adobe is easier to use as long as you don't have the Kobo VOX, if you do then you'll have to use Overdrive.) Once you are set up you will have to enter your library then your ID and pin number (usually default is last 4 digits of your library card number). Once that done you can browse any epubs that they have available and download them free for up to two weeks at a time. Hope this is helping but one step at a time!

What do you mean by your local isn't working? Do they offer Ebooks? You can go to any library and join it then download ebooks from that library for free. My wife had a Kobo then got one of the new Kobo VOX units. It was a bit of a pain to get it set up but now she can download any of the Epub books that our library offers. There is a really good selection. There aren't a lot of sites that do offer free ebooks but I'll help you anyway I can. Just need a bit more information.

A few months back I asked for some people to evaluate NokOut for me and the responses I received were very encouraging. Home Hardware is now considering putting it into their distribution system for me and it would be a big help if any of you that have written any articles about the product could forward copies of those articles to me. In fact we currently have about 14 of their stores carrying the product right now. Hopfully we'll be able to say "available at a Home Hardware near you" in the near future. Please send them to my email address [email protected] ASAP. Thanks so much for all your help! Cliff

Funny, I use to be able to carry all the tackle I needed for a days fishing in a little box in my pocket. Over the years, it got to be that three tackle boxes weren't enough and if I didn't have at least six rods at my ready, something was wrong. Funny thing is, I think I caught more fish back when I just carried the tackle in my pocket LOL. The last few years I have started winding it back down and going back to basics. I still have just as much fun, seem to catch as many if not more fish, and spend a lot less! Hooks? A package small, medium, and large, if that doesn't work oh well! LOL

I never ask for or expect gas money when a friend and I go fishing or hunting (or much of anything else) unless it is a special trip and we have agreed to split costs up front. When a friend drops by the house for a visit I don't usually ask them to cover part of my heat or hydro or pay for their coffee or beer either. I will usually offer to pony up some cash if I am going with someone else but that usually depends on who it is, if it is someone that I take out with me then I usually figure it all works out in the end. (guess that's why I'm always broke) As far as loosing $20.00 a day in gas money and how it is going to affect your child and family; Tim Horton's pays $10.25/hr to start, that is $82.00 a day X 100 days = $8200.00 toward your kids education or your debts. If the money is that important to you, get a job and fish when you can like the majority of us do.

Now that's a good thought! It would be ashamed to change the place we usually hold it and confuse everyone!

As long as there is money to be made people will break the law! -
Ok, so last week I post about needing someone to fix my gas stove. Next thing I know I have a PM from Paul with the name and number of two companies in my area that can help me. I call one of them and Bingo, guy showes up today exactly as promissed. Checks the stove, finds a patially blocked orfice, cleans it, checks everything out, fires it up and tells me it looks good! Well Paul, I don't know if you saved another marrige but you sure made my wife want to meet you! Thank you again my friend!

Well, the logestics of moving the event are going to be a real problem. What are we, fisher"persons" or not? Don't we always make the best of every situation? If there is no ice to get out on "safely" then we'll just have to fish the ice that is safe. If there is no ice, then we'll just have to fish from shore (or boats) and if we can't do any of the above then we'll sit around tell stories, catch up with some old friends, meet up with some new ones, reminiss about those that have gone before us, eat those scrumptious saussages and burgers and do what we always do; have a good time! (Besides I need my Joey smile fix) I'm in for whatever, I could never let a kid down!

Well, I'm all for the idea and I would be willing to take care of the distribution/collection for the Kawarthas area. As far as where the money should go; This will be our 8th year supporting the Fishing For Tyler event. The money we would raise from the T-shirt venture isn't likely going to make much of a dent in any of the hatchery programs but could make a significant contribution to one little boy who really does need our continued help and support. For those that don't know, Tyler doesn't get much help from our goverment programs if any at all. Every year the bit of money we manage to raise to help the French family get Tyler the treatments he needs gets put to very good use. For those that have been involved over the years and seen the wonderful progress Tyler has made the reward is ever present and carried well within our hearts. Kudos to you for stepping up to the plate and trying to do something to make a difference! I'd really like to meet you some day and buy you a cold (or hot) one whatever your choice might be.

I got a 4 man Sub Zero for Christmas a couple of years ago and I love it. Sets up in about 2 minutes, folds down into a handy carrying bag, weighs 23 lbs. Very comfortable for two guys, gear and a heater, a little crowded with 3 guys, 4 guys and you would want to be really good friends and store your gear outside. I think it was on special at CTC for under $300.00.

Anyone on the board licensed to work on gas appliances

And once again Paul comes to the rescue and provided me with a name and phone number of a professional that as soon as I explained the problem knew exactly what I was talking about. They will be here on Tuesday to fix it for me. Now I owe you two Paul! -
That's the kind of customer service that makes me want to buy their product! Thanks for posting!

Apparently it could be the dual outlet oven safety valve causing the problem, it might be the short oven sensor, or it could be the oven ignighter. The stove gave us an F1 error code all of a sudden one day, (I sent Maytag an email but all they said was they couldn't help me trouble shoot the thing for liabilty reasons, call a service technician) sometimes the broiler will sort of work but not properly almost as if only half the burner is working. The burners haven't been cleaned in the 15 years we have had the stove so I'm thinking it is probably more of a gas flow problem rather than electrical. It will ignite sometimes just not burn properly. Could also be the thermostat though sensing the temperature is too high and thus restricting the gas flow. Modle is JGR8750ADW sn 12048641UD if that helps at all Paul -

It's a liability issue Billy Bob, I could probably fix it but if I do and there ever is a problem I could have an issue with my insurance etc.. I did do some research on it and apparently there are three components that could cause the problem. Replacing all three of them would end up costing hundreds of $$$. I'd rather pay someone that KNOWS their stuff to have it fixed properly. I'm not willing to take that chance. -
I have an older Jenn-Air gas stove and the broiler has quit working properly (oven still works). Anyway I was wondering if anyone on the board in proximity to the Kawarthas is licensed to work on these things. If I am going to have to pay a service person to come and fix it I'd rather give the money to an OFNr. The stove is about 15 years old and probably needs a good tune up anyway.

When our fridge decided to give us problems, we called The service guy who told us it was going to cost something in excess of $500.00 to fix it. Thermostat was gone and the cold water line going to the outlet on the door had started to leak. Paul got me the parts at cost delivered to my door and in less than three hours I had the thing working like new again. (I could probably do it in half the time now). Every once in a while someone special comes along, Paul sure is one of them!
