  1. This is total bull! I am 68. I have worked my entire life starting at 15. I have paid my takes and my CPP and today I qualify for just over $550.00 a month in CPP. One of the few things this government has given me is the right to fish without having to buy a license and now they want to take even that away from me? How much money do they think this is going to generate, fire one politician and you'd probably double what they will collect from us seniors that can still fish. Oh, and BTW I still have to work because there is no way I could live in this country based on a pension plan that I have paid into for all these years and watched our goverment squander to fill their own pockets. If they do impliment this you can watch for this old man to get charged for fishing without a license because I WILL NOT BUY another one! When I don't pay the fine, they can put me in jail: 3 meals a day, medical, dental, TV (bet I can get lots of fishing shows). I am so ready to join any revolution that opposes the way people are treated in this country. Oh, and one last question: Why is it we keep hearing that CPP is going to run out of money but welfare isn't? Seems to me that I have paid into CPP, who has paid into welfare? Oh wait, I guess that would be me too but I can't collect walefare.
  2. Being a non smoker for a long time now and not wanting to change that I don't have first hand information about them. I have been offered an opportunity to become a distributor of what appears to be the latest craze, E Cigarettes. Before I would ever embark on such an adventure I want to do some homework and since I know that many of the members here do or have smoked, I'd like to get some feedback from you. I would really appreciate any feedback pro or con, thoughts, and ideas. You can email me if you prefer [email protected]
  3. You got it Sinker, no more fishing reports from this boy!!!
  4. Went back to a spot where I had picked up a couple of small ones the day before, it looked like a parking lot with 10+ boats all packed in so close you could have walked across them. I saw some nice fish being caught but I wasn't interested in getting jamed into that mess so I left and tried a few other spots. Three years ago I could have gone there and I might have seen one or two other boats now it is common to see 10+ on a week day and you can forget even trying on a weekend.
  5. Warmest I found was 56°. Main body of the lake was 47-49. Only action at all was on the West banks and very shallow. My BEST crappie fishing is when temps are between 58 and 62 although I talked to a couple of guys that told me they did quite well last week but had only caught a couple of small perch between yesterday and today. My mom's birthday would be on the 16th if she was still alive, you can imagine the risks I took some years to get out fishing on opening weekend.
  6. Got out again today, caught a few, all small! Saw a few caught, all small! Talked to a lot of other guys that hadn't caught any.
  7. Go out and try one thing, if that doesn't work just keep trying different things until you get the right combination. Hit two of my favorite crappie holes yesterday, water temp 53°F. Quite a few boats but in three hours I didn't see one crappie caught. Will give it another try again today and see if I can find them. Water is still quite high but starting to go down a little every day.
  8. Yes, bashing isn't allowed regardless of who it is!
  9. And that my friend is what it is all about! Again, I want to thank you so much for taking the time to help me make an informed decision! When I had my business going I always said that I never wanted to be embarrised in meeting one of my customers out in public or at a party. I am not going to say that I was perfect but I always tried my best! Perhaps that was the secret to our success.
  10. Plenty of dead pan fish washed up on Sturgeon Lake this year. I think part of the problem was that they dropped the water level so low to help prevent/reduce flooding. Sad to see the dead fish, sadder to see someone loose their home or cottage!
  11. My cars and driveway are covered with those red bud husks right now. That was really nice to see, I just showed it to a friend of mine that is getting into wild life photography, she loved it!
  12. Funny how that works isn't it Lew; I always worry when a guy doesn't want to give me a written quote (got burned on that once) or wants 50% (or more) up front. Word of mouth is so important to any business especially in an area like this! Glad to hear your job worked out too! If I ever need a skylight installed, I know who to call!
  13. Well, after considering all the information I received here and talking to Jason @ Elite roofing and several of his customers we decided to go with him on the 29 gauge. I would have prefered the 28 gauge because of what was recommended here but it was going to be about $800.00 more. I realize that there is a concern if someone was to walk on our roof and step on ribs or if there were large branches that could land on it but there is no reason for anyone to be up on our roof and no large trees nearby. I also talked to several people reguarding the product that he was using and not one of them had anything negitive to say about the quality of the product and I couldn't find anyone that had ever had a warrenty claim (hope I'm not going to be the first LOL). Jason was very well organized and very professional, he and his crew showed up and went to work, they had a bit of a delay because of high winds and rain but as of Friday night they had it all done. I was really pleased with the time they took installing trim and drip guards etc.. They really seemed to care about what they were doing. The other thing that impressed me was that everyone else I talked to wanted money up front, Jason didn't want a cent until all the work was compleated to my satisfaction. I asked him why and he told me he had never had any problems getting paid for a job because he always made sure that the customer knew what they were getting and he made sure things were done properly. The most important thing is that Sue is happy, I have a new roof that should last for a very long time, and I got it for a very reasonable price compared to other quotes.
  14. I was hoping to get out today but with NW winds of 35k gusting to 54 for the Lindsay area I might just delay my first trip out this year until Monday.
  15. Every journey begins with one step and sometimes it can take several attempts. I don't know if he will suceed, all I know is he has taken the first step of what will be a very long hard journey and I wish him success for himself and for his families sake!
  16. Well, I guess it had, it just needed to be refined and called White Out
  17. No flack from this old man but then I am so far from perfect that it's almost come full circle LOL. When I look back at all the mistakes I have made in my life it isn't so hard to find tollerance for others especially when I see that they are trying to help themselves.
  18. Most addicts don't have an additction or need help! Most don't have underlying problems to deal with! And those two statments are so far from the truth it hurts! The fact that he has finally admitted that he has a problem and is seeking help goes a long way in my books. I don't support Rob Ford and I don't like some of the things he has done but I do give him credit for finally admitting that he does have a problem and I do give him credit for trying to get help to deal with it. I truly hope he is successful not only for his sake but for his families sake too! Now if we could only get Justin Beber to follow the same path, he has all the basics down pat (drugs, drinking, lies, assault) but he is still idolized by so many and refuses to admit that he has a problem!
  19. I might be wrong but a body shop should be able to pop it back out with a suction cup. never done it myself though.
  20. Do your lower unit in the fall too that will save you big bucks if you ever have a seal start to leak. If nothing else, drain it (but put a note on your dash when you store the boat or you might forget to refill it in the spring). Best bet is to drain, repair if necessary, and refil before storage.
  21. Isn't it funny how fast we have become attached to and dependant on technology. I honestly remember the old crank phones when I was a kid! "hi Helen, ring Doris for me please". The first diesel engine came into our town when I was 6, everyone was there at the station to see it. Typwriters, Telex, carbon paper, fountain pens.....How did we learn so much so fast? My little I phone has more power and memory that some of our office computers had and this thing fits in my pocket. I can only wonder what the future holds for my kids and grandkids.
  22. Excellent report, beautiful pictures! And yes, line can play a huge factor not only for pannies!
  23. You'd be surprised at some of the battles that members of this board have had to fight over the years, some still are! IMHO No man has the right to look down on any other man unless they are offering him a hand up.
  24. Many of the members of this board have fought the battle against booze, drugs, depression...... All I can say is; if you kick a man when he is down, who is the better man?
  25. While fuel stabilizers help with the ethanol, they also love to absorb water. When they get saturated, the water tends to settle out (and yes, to the bottom of the tank where the fuel pickup is usually situated). Keeping your tank full when storing your boat can help but if you are out running on a hot humid day and park your boat with all that hot humid air in the tank, where do you think all that humidity is going to go when things cool down? Well, it will condense and settle to the bottom of your tank in case you didn't think about it. 98% humidity means that most of the air in your tank is water! At this point, if you can pump the tank, that would be your best option. Pushing it until you get it to run might work but you really haven't solved the problem and it could come back to haunt you when you least want it to.
