If there was enough stuff available from the GTA to make it worth while and it could be aranged so I could get it all as a planed route, I would consider donating a day of my time + fuel to round it all up and deliver it to a local UPS Store for shipping.

I have never had a problem buying off EBay but watch the seller's rating. Your budget should be enough to get a pretty good unit that would do both for you and you might be able to sell the unit you have now to make up the difference to buy a REALLY god unit.

Also, not to take away from manitoubass2's function but I have also had a very good response from Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and the Boy's and Girl's Club when it comes to donating stuff.

I just use my HDS 5 and I can switch between flasher and graph depending on what I am doing at the time.

Just heard on the news today that we, Canada have just donated $22,000,000.00 worth of surplus Arctic survival gear to the Ukraine! I have to say, I think that was a wonderful thing for us, Canada to do! My only question is: How the heck did we end up with a SURPLUS of $22,000,000.00 in Arctic survival gear in the first place? I might be wrong but doesn’t surplus mean unnecessary?

Balsam lake (South Bay area) a thin skim of ice as far as the eye can see. Sturgeon Lake (Goose Bay area) much the same, looks like there is some open water out about the middle, lots of birds out there, guls, ducks, geese.

When lead shot was first banned for water fowl hunting I was asked if I could design a piece of equipment to tell if a shot gun shell had lead in it or not. It had to be small, simple to operate, and non destructive. The deal was simple, if I could design it I would be a full partner in the company that produced it, it was all done on a hand shake, I always did business on a hand shake, my word was good, I just expected everyone elses was too, Well, I did design it and it worked (and is still being used today). Then I found out that my supposed partner had pattented it in his own name both in Canada and in the US. It was going to cost me $15,000.00 just to start to try to fight the pattent and $50,000.00 was being mentioned a lot. I didn't have that kind of money so I had to walk away. I think the idea of getting your product copywrite protected might be the best idea. I would also be willing to be a tester and witness with no expectation of any financial gain. I do think a letter of non disclosure though is also a good idea for anyone you do get involved. Pete, I will give him a call in the morning for you. Sturgeon is pretty much open, there are some ice flows but mostly in protected areas. A thin skim of ice in sheltered bays this morning but that was it for new ice. -7 tonight so it might thicken a bit.

If the axle isn't straight with the frame I would expect to see wear on the outside edge of the leading tire and on the inside edge of the trailing tire. Get someone to follow you while going down the highway and see if the trailer is tracking straight.

I wish I could help you more, most of my Southern fishing trips have been to Myrtle Beach or Clearwater Beach and I have been pier fishing. I just go to the nearest BPS and for about $50.00 get a rod real and some tackle. One trip where we went to Cuba I did take a light two piece rod a pile of extra line and hooks and some leaders and things. I found a very nice young man that took me fishing for a day for $5.00 and we had a blast. At the end of the day I gave him his $5.00 then the rod, reel and extra tackle, thought he was going to cry. We ended up getting invited to his family's home for dinner and had the best vacation we have ever had! Such wonderful people! I'd be putting more thought into what you can leave behind and let the fishing just happen! PS, the bartenders always know someone who knows someone who will take you fishing for a day, not sure what the going rate would be in Mexico but Cuba $5.00 - $10.00 will get you some spectacular fishing! Hooks, line, things like that are appreciated more than cash. Just as an after thought; any chance you could ship your rod and stuff ahead and have it held for you there? Might be easier and cheeper than oversize baggage charges and having to haul it to and from the airports.

Well, I managed to salvage the boardwalk, I'll have to do some work on it in the spring but I was able to get a cable on it and drag it out of the lake up on to shore with my ATV. The dock, well I think I might have salvaged about 20% of it, many of the 2"X6"s were snapped like tooth picks, 6 out of the 8 legs are bent like a drinking straw, some of it is no where to be seen so watch out if you are out in a boat at all, it will be floating right at the surface. It could be worse, no one was hurt, no damage to the boat house, I'll have to wait until spring to see how much damage there is to the marine railway but whatever it is, it is, I can fix it. Darn hard work out in that wind I have to tell you but at least it's done.

Well the lake was almost frozen over until we got that rain and wind and then it happened, the ice started to move and when that happens there isn't much that can stand in it's way. Our dock in nothing but splinters, about 1/2 our boardwalk is destroyed the neighbors dock is in much the same shape and I'm sure a lot of other people along here fared pretty much the same. It's a little early to tell yet but I think our boat houses survived without damage, I won't know about the marine railway intil spring though, it is under a mass of ice. Oh well I'll try to salvage what I can, guess I'll be building a new dock in the spring. On a brighter note, looks like the lake is pretty much wide open again for any of you hunters.

I believe Reliance has actually been sued by at least one insurance company for failure to properly service their equipment. Is it propane or NG? If it is propane I would contact your propane supplier, we have a similar setup to what you describe and had no issues getting it hooked up by our propane supplier.

I wonder if it applies to all six of their locations?

A change in carers at our age is a good thing, it's almost like a fresh start and I think it kind of re enforces in our own mind that we are still capable. Glad to hear it is working out for you Bernie!

Looking out my window over Sturgeon Lake (Goose Bay area) Looks like ice right across. Just checked with a friend on Balsom, South Bay is ice as far as he can see.

Mine cost me $300.00 parts and labor to have an electrician hook it all up.

I have no idea how many Readers Digests I have read sitting in waiting rooms over the years, it was the first thing I would look for when I got there. Now I have a smart phone and the first thing I look for is a WiFi connection LOL, the world is in my pocket!

Your back up generator is a super idea (as long as your sump pump doesn't fail). Personally I think they are nice to have but how often would you ever really use it? I have a 6500 watt generator sitting here, house is all wired up for it and it will do everything I need if we have a power failure. It has been sitting here for 5 years and so far it has had about two hours use. I do think you would be better looking at alternatives other than the back up generator.
