  1. I have been getting the flu shot every year for a long time now. I was the primary care giver for my mom until she passed away and also for Sue so our Dr. suggested I should be getting it. I do occasionally get the flu but when I have it has always been very mild and only lasts a day or two. Right or wrong, it works for me.
  2. Now this is someone I would talk to!!!!!
  3. If you are thinking pop up, talk to me.
  4. You can not buy or steal it. It's like a wisp of air! You can not fake or hold it. It has to just be there! It feels so good to get love. And yet it's fun to give! Love is that special something, That makes you want to live! If you have never had it, Your life is not complete. If you've never been in love, I hope some day you'll meet. A very special person, to share a life of joy. Someone that's fun to be with, a girl or a boy. If you should ever loose it, and feel you want to die. Remember all the good times, It's worth another try! Written many years ago by Big Cliff for the love of his life.
  5. No Jimmer, I don't deserve any thumbs up. I was brought up to do my best to help others and I have to be honest with you if it wasn't for the help of others I wouldn't be where I am today!
  6. Vance, if only more people in this world would think that way what a wonderful world would this be. How many seniors sit alone on Christmas? Most would be so happy with only someone to share it with! Sue and I are lucky, we have family and friends. Too many others don't.
  7. I'm sorry, I didn't do a lot of Christmas shopping this year. Instead I chose to fix my neighbors snow blower for him for the cost of the parts. Today I saw an elderlay lady shoveling a path so I went home got my little snow blower and cleaned her drive way for her! (OK, when you are almost 70, an invitation to come inside can scare the heck out of you) A friend called, her dad is in the hospital. She is afraid to drive in this weather so I will be picking her up and we will be going for a visit. Don't have any money for shoping, but life is good!
  8. Actually that isn't a good question. Best glue is love, it has kept Sue and I together for over 30 years! Now for boats? Your guess is as good as mine.
  9. Jimmer. Come over have a beer/coffee/smoke some dope/whatever/ and tell me that is a good solution! Alright I was just kidding. I don't do beer . Seriously this is an issue that needs to be addressed. Is there a solution? PS, would love to share a "Beverage" with you!
  10. From the sound of it things are changing almost daily. We use to fly in on a charter (no, not a private charter LOL). Instead of waiting for the bus, we would just advise the tour operator we would arrange our own transportation. Then we'd jump in a limo ((about $20.00) to our hotel (we liked to think we were big spenders LOL) If we booked tickets to a show I would always go and see the matradee prior to the show and explain that I wanted to impress a lady, what would a front row booth cost me? Usually $20.00 would get you into the "invited guest line and guarantee a front row booth". (It usually ended up impressing the lady and was well worth the extra $20.00 ) Ok so truth be told, it impressed her so much she married me and has stuck around for 30+ years! Ok, OK, so it was a couple of $20.00s in the end but when you are in love.........
  11. I have carpet in mine, I'm not going to say it is the best option though. I have always been nervous about vinal especially when it is cold like early spring or late fall. Does it get slippery if it gets wet?
  12. True TJ but it is: $2.00 on my out door card $2.00 on my deer licence $2.00 on my small game licence $2.00 on my Migratory Bird License $2.00 on my bear licence $2.00 on my moose licence $2.00 on my fishing licence (if they get their way) And if I spend any more money on hunting and fishing there will be another $2.00 on the divorce licence! (oh wait, they haven't started that one yet $14.00 a year EXTRA income. Where is all the money I already pay for licences going?
  13. It is really good to hear all these stories but what I would really like to know is; what can WE do to try to protect those who are getting scammed? There must be a way to put some kind of a virus on your system so that when someone tries to access it they get shut down. It is nice that so many of us are wise to this sort of thing but I feel sorry for the seniors that hardly know how to turn their computer on and get caught.
  14. And the banks would go bust because no one could afford the interest and they would just start walking away from their homes.
  15. I usually try to teach them a few English words before I let them go. The sad part is that they must get enough suckers to make it worth their while.
  16. Back up sump pumps I don't know a lot about but last year I bought a "water monitor alarm system" at Home Hardware for about $275.00. It comes with a remote sensor and can even be programed to dial your cell phone in the event that the alarm is triggered. Might be worth looking at.
  17. Want to increase the deer population? Put a bounty on the coyoties! I have seen more coyoties in the WMU I hunt than deer this year. Unfortunatly this is going to be my last year for deer hunting anyway, I just can't handle the work involved anymore but that is ok, I've had plenty of really good years. As far as paying for a fishing license and all of that, I think I might have gone out fishing 6 or 8 times last year and I think I might have kept 20 fish mostly crappie which I believe are an invasive species anyway. If they want to take that away from me, go for it, I'll just sell my boat, quit buying gas, paying insurance, buying tackle and I'll sit in my chair by the dock and drink my dandelion wine. Go ahead, tax that if you think you can! A couple of extra bucks might not seem like much to some of you young guys with jobs but try living on $1100.00 a month and see what you think especially when you have earned the right!
  18. It's a secret, I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you
  19. Was it an older motor? Don't most of the new ones have a rev limiter on them?
  20. Suggestion: Book it through one of the package deals since this is your first trip there, that way if you do have any issues you have someone to sort it out for you. Get downtown to Fremont Street if you can at night, the light show is pretty nice to see. Rent a car and go for a drive out of town, Area 51, Hoover Dam, The Grand Canyon, there is so much to see, any time we go there we always make a point of spending a day driving out to some of these places, there are plenty of things to see in the desert as well. We enjoy getting all the free coupon books too and lay them out so we start at our hotel and walk the strip. You can make a whole day out of it and enjoy all kinds of free stuff, shrimp cocktails, free spins on slot machines, all sorts of food............. Do not get sucked into any of these "FREE gifts just for attending a short presentation" deals. They are high pressure time share types of deals and will tie you up for hours. Total waste of time! If you are going to do any gambeling just remember any jackpots over $1200.00 they will automatically hold back about 30% of it for taxes, you can recover it once you get back to Canada but it is a big hassle. If you are going to play slots, play machines that have smaller payouts, they pay more often anyway. Lastly, set yourself a daily budget and stick to it, I have seen plenty of people loose whatever they came with and then a lot more than they can afford trying to get back to even. Those casinos didn't get to be that big and fancy by paying out money! Have Fun!
  21. I suspect that prop was gone before he put it in reverse. As soon as the hub failed that badly the prop had no forward thrust to hold it in place and not enough friction to keep it on the shaft, the forward motion of the boat would have created reverse pressure on the prop pushing it right off the hub. I guess we'll really never know. Glad you at least had a trolling motor so you could get back home ok. This isn't a good time of the year to be stuck out on the water.
  22. Or a plow for the ATV. As long as you don't get it hung up you can go just about anywhere.
  23. I hear you Lew, we might be ok on the fishing license thing, from what I understand we might be exempt since we are already over 65 and entitled to fish for free.
  24. Sweetheart with a guy like Paul around you'll likely never have to either!
  25. It is a cold winter morning; husband is on his way to work when his cell phone rings, it's a text from his wife: Wife, "windows frozen" Husband: "pour hot water on it" A few minutes later; Wife: "Now the whole computer is totally messed up"!
