  1. It's a great upgrade and super easy to do! Enjoy.
  2. The reason I'm asking for real world examples is because rated towing capacity from the manufacturer seldom lives up to expectations. And while weight wise my boat is no issue, that sucker has high sides and a big profile so it's a real kite. Anyway, thanks all for the input. By the sounds of it shouldn't be an issue.
  3. Thanks fellas, I’m not worried too much about mileage while towIng. It’s all the rest of the driving where it matters. I’m just concerned that it will pull the weight without issue.
  4. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm kicking around the idea of a Ram truck... I've been a Ford guy for the last 11 years, and before that had a Chevy. Neither have owed me anything. Is anyone here towing with the 3.6L pentastar V6? I'm pulling 3500lbs fully loaded with gear and gas. I will never pull more than that unless it's a one off, and I won't be getting 2 footitis any time soon as this boat is as big as I'll ever need. My starcraft is a bit of a kite with high sides, but the 4.6L I'm currently pulling with has always been plenty. It looks like the Pentastar makes more HP and just slightly less torque than my current engine. The furthest I'll tow the big boat is to North Bay on a semi regular basis, but I'm planning to leave my tin boat up there this summer so I won't pull my big boat up all the time. Otherwise I travel weekly to lake Erie or Ontario which can be up to a solid 2 hour run for me. I'm also looking at the Ford 3.3. I won't buy an ecoboom as we had a bunch of failures in the vehicles at work so that's out entirely. When I'm not towing it's a daily driver with a 20 minute commute, and the most I'll haul otherwise is an ATV in the back or a double sled trailer from time to time. I'm questioning the need for a V8 with the tech that's available. Anyway, thoughts on those who've towed with the current generation V6's are appreciated. Input from mechanics on these engines and drivelines also appreciated. I think this is fishing related as my primary concern is towing my fishing boat!
  5. I did vinyl plank throughout the entire top floor of my house, excluding bedrooms. There is no way I'd do a staircase. I didn't find it the most forgiving stuff. It is easy to cut however but overall I don't think I'd do it again. Laminate is easier to deal with. Frankly I'd never have anything but carpet on a staircase. It only takes one mother in law slipping and breaking an ankle to convince you to never have a hardwood or non carpeted staircase. Ask me how I know!
  6. I sincerely hope your able to make your trip. Just as we'd like to make the fall steelhead seasons south of the border! Not all Canadians see this the same way.
  7. My last trip took a skunking. Had to happen. Plagued with snowmachine issues this season. One issue after another. As for lockdowns. Well, for all I know I could be dead next year for some reason or another. Life is short and unpredictable. I’m living today. Your mileage may vary.
  8. ?? I don’t know what it is man. Just saying it’s probably not a splake. Happy Saturday!
  9. Holy Necro post. Anyway, could you catch an adventurous brookie in Georgian Bay? Of course you could. Many of the streams feeding tributaries of Georgian Bay are littered with brookies. The bay is also littered with lakers. A splake? I haven’t caught one up there since probably 2001. Back in the 90’s you’d catch them pretty regularly to the point it was sometimes a nuisance In the fall because the float would drop and you’d be hoping for a bow and it would be a splake. So I doubt this very old post is a pic of a splake. Anyway, my 2 cents.
  10. Yeah I never experienced anything like that Dan, and at a similar time frame. Nothing but a lot of good times. Sorry to hear it!
  11. Holy uckfay Dan, you where a Wildwood fella too huh. SLOW DOWN lol. Had a lot of fun in that park in my late teens and 20’s. Caught a crapload of bass, channel cats and crappie in the bay and shot a boatload if ducks in the fall! Good times and good memories!
  12. I have installed 2 ipilot kits on terrovas. It is dead simple!
  13. Once you get to a certain age you tend to do stupid things in groups greater than one. When we travel possibly suspect ice, its in a group, with throw lines, spuds and floatation gear. The average age is 50, but we could still help a brother out. There will come a time that I no longer do these things.
  14. Plenty of good ice, even on whitefish water, and yeah I’ve been. If you don’t know don’t go. It’s not the best ice year but there’s fishable ice. Every section of the lake will make ice in varying degrees. Some will be downright unsafe. In other areas you can run a sled or wheeler. But yeah, if this is your first rodeo, go with an operator and fish for perch!
  15. The striker is an amazing suit. This will be season 4 for me and I use it on the ice and in the boat spring and fall! And I have the low end one.
  16. You’ll like the quick flip one. Everything I’ve owned by Eskimo has been top notch, and the one thing I had that was a lemon they replaced quickly!
  17. Public health agencies and CDC etc have extrapolated many many more unconfirmed cases or very mild cases that don’t test. Therefore true mortality is unknown at this point but is possibly lower. How much lower remains to be seen. I don’t know where the 98.5 percentage comes from but if you ask many medical professionals, my brother in law (ER Doctor) included, they anticipate many cases go undetected. If you’ve noted the death rates continues to drop worldwide, with some locales having higher rates, but at the beginning the death rate was showing anywhere from 5 to 7.5 percent in some countries and has dropped considerably.
  18. And above is the big point. Those that want to stay at home, do so. Those that want to carefully live their lives, do so. People make their own decisions and have a right to do so.
  19. They probably are even at the cabinet level. They certainly are privately. A lot of people feel the same way that politician does, including just about everyone I know, friends, neighbours a lot of colleagues etc. Not much airplay is being given to anything other than the lockdown theory. It’s clear by the roads alone that there is not a lot of buyin, but hey what do I know.
  20. Used to get them off the canals on shrewsbury side in the spring 25 years ago. I never ice fished for them though?
  21. That’s a good one. I had the original green quick flip 1. It was very lightweight!
  22. I have a frabil recon. It’s pretty light if you pull the seat out and just take a small folding stool or chair. All depends how comfortable you want to be. My back is shot from an old injury. I can hoist it into the truck no problem, but I have to take a decent chair. Bad back and bucket don’t go well together so any way you look at it I’m pulling the weight of something comfortable to sit in.
  23. They work fine. I have used one for 3 seasons. I did make one out of a wire grate midway through last winter that is a lot sturdier and moved on to that, but the roller grill works fine, you won’t see any fumes off of it. I did leave in on the heater for 45 minutes or so in the driveway when I first made it, but I didn’t stick around to watch for off-gassing. No issues ever since.
