I do them a couple of ways. One is to stick them on tooth picks and stick the tooth pick into a sheet of styrofoam and paint individually (using differnet shades of nail polish) (light pink/peach beads with a little orange nail polish is pretty good) and the second is to use a small tupperware container (baby food jar size) and foil. I use flat white testors spray paint and squirt a little bit in the container, throw in some bead, put the top on the container and shake. If the beads are too white I add more beads and shake again, do this until you get the right shade. I then pour them out onto a piece of tin foil that has the edges turned up so the little rascals don't try to escape.

Don't even have to click on the link to know what it is. Those augers are needed a little further North. This is mine. Thanks Mike. Tell Eddie it's best to come in the spring as camping in -40 temps pretty much SUCKS!!!!

Mike I believe the proper term is Warlock.

I buy mine in Alaska at the various tackle shops I go to. I always buy plain beads and do my own painting. You can get them through TroutBeads.com or purchase when you get to BC from tackle shops there. If you wait until you get there you will be able to get the right colour beads for the conditions and save some $$$.

When I lived in Ontario my buddy and I used to go to Fish Tale Lodge (now Fish Tale Cabins). FishTale Cabins Web Site I was fortunate enough to land a 53 1/2" musky on one trip. I have also landed some really big bass there.

I've been running a VHF marine radio for 20 years and have never been asked to see my operators license. When I lived in Mississauga and hit Lake "O" everyday during the open water season I was checked regularly by the Toronto and Peel marine units (I remember being checked every day for a week once). I have also been checked dozens of times by the OPP inland. Where I live now it is not an issue, you don't need a boat operators card and you don't even need to register your boat (HP over 10) like you do down south.

They are the mounts that come with the downriggers, you will have to order them as replacement parts from a Cannon dealer. Like here: Cannon Easitroll Mounts

I have a side console Fisher and I mounted my easy trolls forward of the console. My boat has raised casting decks for and aft and it is safer leaning over the side where the boat is the deepest. I have never had any tangling problems in the near,y 19 years I've owned the boat. I have had the right rigger hit and watched a rainbow clear the water on the left though. : My gunnels are wide enough to bolt the bases down without any modification or adapters. Another bonus of mounting them forward is you can watch your rods without getting neck pain from always turning around.

Unless you get the heck out of Ontario!!!! The other provinces and territories actually give a crap about protecting thier resources!!!! I was checked by one of our local CO's on Saturday while fishing a lake 60kms up an ice road (over 100kms from town).

Yes, I thought of that, but believe that the artistic value of leaving the backgrounds in out weighs keeping my spots secret!!!! In 5 days out there we only saw 6 other snowmobiles and they were just passing through.

Thanks fellas!!!1 Sinker, yes the camp was used as a base camp. It was set up about 165kms from Yellowknife on the East Arm of Great Slave Lake. We left right from my door and travelled about 110kms on an ice road supplying a mining exploration camp off the Hearn Channel. We spent 1 day getting there, 3/4 of a day getting the camp in order, 1 day getting back and 2 1/2 days fishing. Then we spent a couple of days running the diamond road made famous by the ice road truckers show. Leechman, yep we have a little ice left yet. Yesterday we drilled through as much as five feet of the hard stuff. No more trips like that but I will be heading out every weekend until the shoreline goes. Mostly to the lake a friends cabin is on. Not many biguns' but I usually catch a few good eaters. ciscokid, yeah there were some decent ones in there but of course the bigun's managed to escape capture. A combination of short rods, barbless hooks and bad luck are to blame. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!! I had one on on day 4 that was a dandy. I thought I had bottom for several seconds before it slowly swam off and the hook pulled!! There's always next year though.

My buddy Terry from BC came up for a little ice fishing, NWT style. While we didn't land any true giants we did have our chances. This video chronicles the 8 day journey chasing lakers on the ice roads of the area. Enjoy!!! Lake Trout Video

I doubt that he will have to worry about which side to lay it down as it wll be bolted to the transom of his boat and will likely never come off the boat. -
Not very accurate though. It's put Yellowknife North of Manitoba in Nunavut instead of on Great Slave Lake in the NWT.
