  1. sweet report...nifty work with the fish cam, parking lines are a nice touch
  2. I got a captain you can call in florida..he'll run you from south beach to cuba and back doing some midnight tarpon fishing
  3. not all guides are professional...just like all servers aren't amazing either
  4. lol it depends a bit on the type of charter too...ocean downrigging is different from inshore...anybody can fight a fish in open water...making tight casts in stiff wind and fighting strong fish in cover takes some angler skill...so it all depends really in my experiences, good guides have called me after I paid for my booking, asked my level of experience, what I wanted to target, what type of gear I was comfortable with, lunch preferences, how early you want to start...good guides never say that's too early lol
  5. I would personally budget a tip when you're planning...and if the guide didn't meet your expectations, I wouldn't feel guilty about holding back
  6. lots of people pay those rates for seemingly successful ON guides I wouldn't for ON bass, but Florida is worth it...but inshore is way better also IMO your guide is your server, and also the chef...and cab driver and entertainer, tackle store, teacher, etc...the good guides do a lot to earn their pay lots of factors for tipping really, but it is purely optional at the end of the day and comes down to what you can afford, and if you were happy with your day guides can't make the fish bite, so I don't judge the day on fish caught.....was he professional and polite, easy to talk with, showed up on time, asked your expectations for the day, had quality functional gear for you to use, packed a good lunch, knew his/her stuff for local waters, etc, etc basically, did they put in the EFFORT to give you a good day
  7. you can find them on amazon.ca, some are pretty pricey though, shop carefully
  8. what is the process for refilling? simply trust the relief valve to work and shut off when propane starts leaking? or hang on a scale? time to google this, I prefer the 5lb tank for ice fishing, but would be great to refill 1lb tanks for the deer blinds
  9. full day bass fishing is about 350-500 on average, not incl tip if you feel so inclined, inshore saltwater tends to be a bit more but you can find deals...offshore is big money...if you are asked to buy your own licence, likely a good sign to stay away, any full time guide will have a licence that covers any guest on his boat (not incl party barges which are fun and cheap) I would 100% take redfish over bass any day of the week....or better yet, day of bass and day of inshore...I did a day trip to the everglades, fishing kind of sucked but was still an amazing day out....2 lb lady fish on the fly are actually fun, for about the first dozen lol how did the OP make out?
  10. yep, just sharing what my experience was I would also recommend a kipawa prop for anybody regardless of make of trolling motor, the best $50 I ever spent on the boat
  11. I wouldn't say my terrova keeps me within 5', especially not windy days, but it is an awesome feature/awesome motor
  12. that's a cool coffee table, thanks for posting that link
  13. very cool to see them making a comeback in southern ON, saw a few around port Stanley growing up I have a love/hate relationship with baldies...tend to be better fishing when they're around, but they are sometimes bold and very keen on salmon gut piles....also entire salmon if you're not careful and have it tied to the drift boat lol
  14. uh oh, a crowd is gathering at the lynching tree...Adam S better run fast!!!
  15. the depths aren't 100% accurate, ballpark I'd say...but 40 to 22 is a big variance lol
  16. they look much warmer inside edit: attempt #2 at linking pic...14 sq ft of comfy game meat
  17. lol nothing wrong with the banjo minnow, it did catch a ton of fish (received 2 kits for gifts)...gimmicky sales pitch though...the cork screw/rigging method was innovative for it's time
  18. crappy deal is I'm not aware of any phones where you can turn off cell reception and keep GPS enabled, so as mentioned it's hard on your battery, I use it mostly for getting to my spots/looking for a new area and then airplane mode you need to download the lake maps while you have reception (maybe not an issue depending on where you fish) I think it's handy for any angler with a smart phone on open water it doesn't track low speed for me,<2, but wouldn't use the app for that anyways
  19. recommend the tire strap with the jack, pretty cheap..as mentioned new gen bumpers are useless http://www.amazon.ca/Hi-Lift-LM100-Jack-LM-100-Lift-Mate/dp/B00042KGWG if you plan to get into some offroading more often, another use piece of kit here, but not necessary for casual winching http://www.amazon.ca/Hi-Lift-Jack-ORK-Off-Road-Kit/dp/B00042KQ58 but this is likely all overkill for that snow you expect to encounter, but quicklypays for it self the first time you get your truck in a jam off the beaten path
  20. cool video, looks like an awesome day
  21. I bought the 60$ gold plated cable before and then a cheap cable after the puppy stood on her hind legs and tip toed to chew the cable.... no difference in quality between the two
  22. those nuts are definitely fully tight? maybe sheared a bit and sitting funny? I'd take the blade off, clean up the surfaces with a wire brush, maybe new nuts/bolts and remount...it looks like it is angled for sure
  23. blade is supposed to mount on top, correctly as shown in the pic, that little bead prevents mounting on the bottom a friend had one with similar issue, wobbled and cut poorly, but he was also rough on his auger, redrilled holes, put his body weight on top of it, so I blame him ask jiffy if they will give you a discount on a new auger blade (no powerhead), doesn't hurt to ask
  24. http://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/60-in-hi-lift-farm-jack/A-p8000715e add some chain and shackles and you're set
