I agree in principle...but I think sometimes we need to remember where we started or how we started. If you start imposing tests and add'l costs associated with it, fewer will take up this great pastime. I think most would agree that getting the youth of today involved is also important. I'm a pretty staunch conservationist, but am getting tired of the "elitist" tone some of these posts are taking. I'm all for education and strongly believe that's the course we need to take..but add'l costs and time and so on isn't the way to grow our sport. I think someone before me hit the nail on the head asking....where is our outdoors card and license money going now? Great post though....I'm curious to see where this one goes. Cheers!

Wenebegon is far from an "outpost" now....great lake though...especially 10+ years ago, but the new logging roads there now have hurt it. Does Lee Cole still own the camp on the lake?

I thought I was done before as I was getting sick of watching bone fishing etc..etc.....but I know know I'm done! I'm in business and understand the concept of having to pay bills....but MONTEL WILLIAMS SELLING A "HEALTHY HEALTH MASTER" blender on WFN!!!!??? For 5 payments 49.99!!!??? ouch!

probly...but I'm assuming the law sez he's legal to do so and those boys will remember that forever! I say good on them...enjoy and once they become avid/addicted like most of us here maybe the next one goes back...there's a learning curve to everything and we've all kept or killed one that we wish we hadn't.

I think that's the case in all professions...some get it...some don't don't! Some get the "power trip" and some don't....then you get our by-law officer handing out $40 parking tickets to some of us dropping our 4/5 year old kids off at school this morning cuz we left our cars unattended for 5mins tops.... well outside the bus loading zone to walk the little ones in the school cuz the driver's watch was off by eight minutes and managed to pick up 8 out of thirty kids!!! It was posted no parking...our bad...but come on...a school at 8:15 am??? ON a residential...quiet street??? Our town only has 11k people and none of our streets are busy!? sorry I had to rant! I'll go fishing this weekend...I promise. Sorry for hijacking a thread!

Oh... forgot to mention... the OPP were out strong and, well, us respectful and productive citizens did get a ticket for having a beer on our way back to the dock (just the passengers of course, though they did breathalize the driver who blew a zero of course) ...been there done that! Nice fine isn't it!!!! wow!

I know this was beaten to death once before...but does anybody have any leads on the 5lb refillable tanks? I used to have one...lent it out...don't know where it is!? I loved that little tank for camping and such!

One day soon I hope the pharm. comps. and the docs shelling these pills out by the hundreds are going to have to answer some really tough questions! Too easy to get...that's the main problem. Count me in Ryan for a few, boat, trucks, ATV? Count me in for the same as last year too.

I always have two rods in the boat this time of year especially...if not three rigged differently. First I cover the shoreline trolling small spoons or spinners..usually tipped with a piece of worm, when I find the school, I back off from the spooky fish and toss a slip bobber set up with a small red gammy hook and worm with a small split shot six inches up from bait...works for me up here. Have a good weekend and good luck I find after about a half hour and a few fish they "spook" really bad and move on and if time allows come back a couple hours later.
