Thank you for putting this up for people to read desship! This is a serious issue facing all canadians and think that everyone should read the link you gave. Very unfortunate that the DFO would attempt to bar this information and stay in the pocket of the salmon farmers. The provincial Govt should be ashamed of itself for not taking action on this, knowing full well what happened to the Cod fishery out East. People don't seem to learn... Thanks again for sharing.

Fresh fish > boots

Hey mike, i wasnt harping on you or bent out of shape in any way. Hooks go in hands for a variety of reasons. I only use barbless hooks and, like i said, havent used the boga in a long time. In fact, i use the net more often than not if the fish needs extra attention. The problem for me is that i fish alone 90% of the time and you need two hands to remove the hooks, leaving the net to become a problem in itself. Again, barbless solves most of the issues i have with unhooking fish wirhout any additional tools and rarely remove the fish from the water. Knipex cutters are also mandatory and are the first line of defence for deeply hooked fish. Tightlines and no hissy fits;) !

Btw, congrats on the first of many to come!

Ive got no problem with using the boga. I rarely bring fish out of the water and find netting to be awkward at times. That being said, i havent used the one i have onboard for two years at least. MuskyMike, your vid is misleading. Accidents happen whether its the angler using a boga or the guy lipping a bass with a three treble jerkbait, getting a suick drilled into your head on an errant cast or falling overboard while relieving the reservoir. All these things can and have happened.

Totally agree with DanC. I feel that a new moon period is a can't miss opportunity. Especially the two days prior to, and after the full moon. The bite around the August14th new moon was really good as the moonrise and set times coincided with sunrise and sunset. Big fish days! The approaching weather changes also affect the bite but whether or not barometric pressure specifically has anything to do with it, is always going to be an interesting conversation. Whether or not it has more to do with fish simply being pulled off structure and more susceptible to lures makes alot of sense. Once the weather moves in it can be anyones guess what the fish are doing. I've had days where it seems like you could drain the lake and not see a fish and days where weather has moved in and the fishing is off the charts! Often, immediately following a big storm fish can be hot as well.

Wow, my wife just saw ball lightning. I caught the flash out of the corner of my eye. Bright red very different from the rest of the light show...

I guess what im getting at is, is there access to another vent nearby? A bathroom group, laundry or something of that nature that is tied into the building vent? Cheater vents IMO, are a big waste of money and bound to fail eventually. I think the loop vent Art is describing is actually a circuit vent and would still need to be piped to open air eventually. Hell be able to clarify that one.
-
Looks like theres Abs sticking through the wall. How far does it go and what does it terminate at?
-
Knowing whats behind the wall and accessability to the venting system would help. Just because something works in the beginning, doesnt mean its good. Right from the pic your setup is all wrong and i wouldnt allow myself to leave knowing that youd have problems down the road. Does the dishwasher operate properly?

What is the best way to untangle a baitcaster birdnest?
Jigger replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
I find using a spinning rod when skipping lures makes this problem a non issue. -
Lucky for all the litterers, there are a few spots in the ocean that collect ALL the litter that finds its way into a gutter, stream, etc... See here: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Pacific_Gyre We wont be leaving this world any better for our children. Unfortunately.

I can only imagine how happy the dad was to have released such an awesome fish and then watch his son pull a pb on the next cast. Great story, thanks for sharing!

Weightless fishing and high visibility line.
Jigger replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
I rarely watch the submerged line. Once you understand the rate of fall of the bait youre using, watching the line above the water becomes second nature. That being said, if im using one rod or the other, im spooled up with either 10lb vanish transition in gold or 12lb fireline with a 6' fluoro leader. Feel is transmitted just fine through that length. -
Nice fish man! The big girls really turned on this weekend! Congrats, thats a hawg!

Wow, looks like you guys have been on a tear! Some real nice clean pike!

Good to see yer still poking around Jamie! Nice fish indeed!

I'll be the first to admit it. I'm having the worst year I can remember on those lakes. Finding the fish is only half the problem, ive had fish look and turn away at senkos, dropshot rigs, jerks, jigs, spinnerbaits. You name it, ive watched 'em swim away. Most of the spots that would hold 18-19in fish are holding juvenile fish. Does that mean they're just off the spot during those times and move in when they're more active? I'm just about ready to start night fishing again... Edit: Nice fish BTW!

Nice fish singingdog! Cant say ive had great luck this year. Did hook into a few nice fish, but seem to be caught in the deathspin of unpinned fish. Did lose a slurper over some deep water tonight. Hopefully this weekend produces. Like Craig said, this stable weather should be just the ticket. Thanks for the report!

Ya, i guess Sundin never did get the number of cups that Gilmour, Clarke, Sittler, MacDonald or Roberts did with the Leafs. And here i sat thinking that the leading point getter in Leafs history had to be a great player...
-
There really should be a sarcasm font Mats is the best player to ever wear the Blue and White IMO. Edit: When Seguin scores 3 consecutive 30 goal seasons you can tell me the Leafs lost that deal. I guess it'll have to be 4 because Phil has already done 3.

My opener - Finally Bass Season- Beware of Primates
Jigger replied to Cudz's topic in General Discussion
Nice fish man! Nothing like beating a pb on opening weekend! Looks like you woke up on the wrong side of a good night... -
Found the same, singingdog. Couldn't really put any kind of pattern together. Lots of dead water, it seemed. Nice start to the season fishboy, what were you hitting 'em on?
-
I'd have no problem throwing my line across their path.
