  1. Im just going to refer to you as "The Fish Whisperer" from now on. For a guy thats only dabbled in musky fishing, you sure have the touch. Great report man. Thanks for the morning read!
  2. Ive got an older Regal that gets as much use as my Stradic. On the cheap its a very reliable reel.
  3. nice shop jedi! can really get a feel for the true size. What a big fish!
  4. My favourite! Awesome fish Pete! Congrats on a beauty!
  5. A simple shot of the fish on the scale wouldve put alot of talk to sleep. Not that i care either way. Cant break a State record while in Ontario.
  6. Funny that it was a bunch of guys bass fishing.
  7. Big stones! Cant imagine the thoughts as he stepped out and then off. That is one crazy guy!!!
  8. Hope theres more like you out there Boss! Leaves us bass guys with more open water!
  9. This link will tell you everything you need to know about turnover and more. http://www.waterontheweb.org/under/lakeecology/05_stratification.html
  10. ^^This. Youre probably more comfortable throwing a crank because its proven to be successful for you. Im the opposite. Ill sub the spinnerbait for a crank and if i dont get bit will tie the sb back on. Because i KNOW it works. Spinnerbaits are only second to the jig in versatility IMO AND 99% of the time ive got a rod ready to throw one out. 14lb mono, 7:1 ratio and always a trailer and single trailer hook. 1/4oz-3/8oz early in the season. Once mid summer sets in, its hard to beat the bulk of a 1/2oz sbait, whether its burning it just under the surface, swimming through weeds or open water like BillM said. Cant beat it!
  11. Insert slow clap building to thunderous applause... Awesome fish!
  12. Noticed this early on in my limited time musky fishing. A change in direction along with a slight increase in speed is usually a positive start.
  13. If i didnt spend so much on Senkos and Slammers, not to mention worm hooks/dropshot hooks and weights, id probably have another combo just like it! Maybe two!
  14. Just got up to the cottage and feeling pretty darn thankful. Once the boat is fired up thatll make me x2! Life is good! Glad i brought the float suit, brr...
  15. Tell you what, no matter if its on my Compre or the St.croix, my Stradic isnt going anywhere!
  16. I would think that, for the price youll have to pay, its just not worth it. Wait for a nice spring day and do the work on the driveway.
  17. Nice kitty. Sure, Brookies are beautiful fish. But, because of the rarity factor, that right there is the prettiest fish swimming IMO. Why youd go out to chase big smallies with a ML outfit and 6lb test would be my main query to this thread. Bass are still full of vinegar right now. Had a good one break off the fluoro leader this past wknd. The leader was 10lb and fresh. 6lb just sounds like youre asking for heartbreak.
  18. The first vid had me laughing. The second on had me in fits! The narrator is key there "And that was a mistake. The other guy looked like he was waiting for it and showed some decent technique..." all the while guys continue to fish. Classic. The music, again, is key.
  19. Focus on low light periods and like gino said, be stealthy. Keep low to the ground, dont stomp in, cast from behind bushes or whatever it takes to conceal your presence. If you know where they are, itll happen eventually!
  20. One day the stars will align. Im sure of that! Lots of time left for it to get cold again! Lol Pretty cool seeing that ski swim by the hole! You can have that jig. It needs a new home... I remember that little ditty! Pretty much like NAW said. Every once in awhile a thread like this pops up, this little oasis being what it is. Im hoping weve already got the ball rolling for the fall Not really what i had in mind with this thread. Not that theres anything wrong with that
