WOW! Great fish! Got tired of catching all those giant 'eyes on Quinte, and had to move to something new eh Lloyd? Video wasn't put together half bad either
-
Well...the 2 day trip is a way better deal for you. Realistically, it should be way easier to accommodate the odd day trip with your local friend another time, and if he was that into fishing he should understand! Why should his marital discord hurt a good couple days of fishing for you! Good luck either way

x 2...really takes the fun out of sharing in the community here sometimes..

ROFL!

Hey buddy - thanks for writing up the report - great job...fish juggling pictures aside I want to second and third all of the good things that Johnnyb has to say up there, and send out another big thanks to Lloyd. Aside from putting os on some serious fish, we learned a whole lot about the rigs, the technique, and even a pretty serious amount of boat control. I'll add a few more photos just for good measure as soon as I get them all lined up.

JB....your posting privileges should be removed for that one. Nice fish Wiser!

Not that it matters at this point, but he also said he wasn't 100% on the year. The ad was relatively new at the time - I had a quick look and saw it - figured it was worth the shot. Thanks for the feedback.

Wayne, you're my hero. Despite your ups and downs it seems you and your family made the most of the summer. This is the first end of season irishfield report I've been exposed to, and it's definitely a good one. You had to rub the 9 minutes to Kokoko part in though didn't ya...? SO jealous. Johnnyb and I were making a must-fish ice-list the other day...Temagami came up...if you're around, we should try that meet up again. Just no Siderock - miserable uncooperative brookies...

*squeeal* oops...that uh..wasn't me. Beauty trip guys..amazing report. -
Bicephalic - 'having two heads' - hence two headed bass...my brother put it together for me quick in photoshop... MIGHT? Here's my vote for a yearly family outing in one form or another. Even if there's a gaggle of kids left behind at a lodge on the main lake woah...

Nice to see some things never change...

First I find out about the potential trip openings AFTER they have left, and now there's not even a report...next week...psh

Back in May I asked for some recommendations for a charter in the Niagara falls area for a stag for my brother-in-law for the middle of June. Several people on this and other boards gave me plenty of suggestions. I did some research and spoke with a few of the suggestions and ended up going out on the Upper Niagara River with Paul Castellano of Cast Adventures for Walleye. June’s trip, although a blast was a little lacking as far as fish cooperation was concerned. Paul put us on several patterns that had been producing well for him, and zipped us around to any number of depths and hotspots but to no avail. We stopped and spoke with a few people on the river that Paul Knew – all were getting the skunk. We did manage to catch a few out of season smallies, which were quickly, and gently returned to the river. As we didn’t do as well as expected on the first time around, Paul offered us a deal we just couldn’t refuse on a second trip out. I can’t stress enough what a good guy he is, and how well he took care of us on both outings. Fast forward – August 31st – 3:30pm. We launched out of Fort Erie, and headed up river for what would be a good number of drifts that lasted until sunset. I think all of us lost count of the number of fish in the boat about halfway through the outing. Despite equipment failures of near epic proportions (I decided to take my own gear out this time around), I even managed to boat 4 decent sized Bass. Here’s one: My Brother in law and our Friend Michael, along with Paul who we were glad to have fishing with us this time around were slaying them: This wasn’t the heaviest of the day – but it certainly was the longest Hey – if you haven’t heard of Slammers yet (I sure hadn’t) – find some! All in all an excellent outing – we’re already mulling over a winter-ish trip out on the river for trout. Anyone looking for a charter in the Niagara area – give Paul Castellano a call – you wont regret it. www.castadventures.ca .

Double uni for me - so far so good! Wish I had bothered with a leader Monday night...snagged up on the upper niagara drifting and chewed off atleast 50yards of power pro before i could get my spool locked enough to snap it off :S The uni held up nice after that - snapped the 15lb fluoro leader well before the knot.

NIIIICE! Good Job man!

That's cause all pike are leafs fans dontcha know!

Yep - I did. We released several over the 7 lb range over the course of the day (and a multitude more over the course of our fishing careers so far), and from the healthy fishery we were in - a fish on every 5 minutes, I think it can support it. Besides - You'll notice I'm holding the fish with a lip gripper. What you can't see on the other side of the fish is the gill damage caused by a deep hooking (which was bad enough that it wouldn't support it's weight with a gill hold)...but you're right - we should have thrown a half dead giant fish back so the turtle population could thrive too. You not agreeing isn't going to make my barbecued pike steak taste any less delicious. Thanks to everyone for the positive posts.

I'm not going to get involved in any part of this except the cold hard fact: My mercer's magic x rap outperforms any other bait in my tackle box...even the black and gold rap original...in fact..it kept two of us fed in temagami this spring... I'd also LOVE to know where to get some backup baits..I bought a few, but am down to one xrap, and one each of the two DT models that were released...Dave, Rapala, re-release on the colour!

This has got me *SO* excited right now...rofl.

Island Lake Conservation Area / Orangeville Resevoir
bicephalic replied to MSBruno's topic in General Discussion
Only been twice - did some run and gun walking along the accessable shoreline. Picked up a few decent bass (fun, ~2lb smallies) using black/gold rapala originals. My brother's been out in a boat a time or two, and definitely done better on the opposite side of the lake where it's a bit deeper. Johnnyb's right though - the layout of the lake vs what I've been told is use your topo/google maps and work the deeper holes. good luck! -
wOot! Good job boys! Thanks for sharing.

Hey John, thanks for doing this report up...I was still too lost in the afterglow to put something together. After portaging the tin boat in there - I see nowhere we can't get a motor into!
