  2. Hey everyone, With all the posts of great fall water fishing (and thinking back to how cold and wet we got on the last walleye trip), and with news I heard around the marina today, I just wanted to take a moment to remind everyone to be safe around the water this time of year and through the winter months. As some of you know, the company I work for is situated at the Port Credit Harbour Marina, where among other things, they provide all year docking. Seems one of the live aboards for whatever reason ended up in Lake Ontario last night, and was fished out by two other boaters around 3am this morning with a very faint pulse. I heard shortly before I headed for home that he had past away this afternoon. This isn't someone I knew, and doesn't directly affect me, but it still seems like a terrible waste when a life is lost around the water. No one knows why he ended up in the water, but if it happens in these temperatures, things can get serious in a hurry. Obvioulsy none of the people here are going to stop soft water fishing until we're forced to by the ice, but please be safe people! B
  3. Hey iceslayer - congrats on the first ice fish. It's a shame about all the no fishing signs around the docks/ice i posted yesterday - I'd be out trying to du0plicate your luck.
  4. oh no...she's got you counting down..this is worse than I thought... ever seen what happens to a bomb when the timer hits 0? Seriously - Congratulations!
  5. ...sorry everyone..hadn't seen it before...
  6. So imagine this: You're out for a day of fishing, and fire out that 'one last cast' before heading back to shore. You reel steadily along a weedbed giving your rod a twitch now and then, when suddenly the water explodes and your rod is suddenly bent in half as your opponent tries to dive for deeper water. You play the fish out, wondering what on earth could pull so hard, but finally bring it to the surface beside the boat, where you find... THIS: ! Possibly a photo-chop job, but I'm not so sure. Anyone ever come across something like this? B
  7. Nice report, looks like some fun fish! B
  8. Just snapped these on my way nack to the office from the bank - the snow coming down doesn't show up on the camera phone, but the ice around the docks sure does!
  9. Great to know - thanks for the link!
  10. Now THAT I've got to see!
  11. http://www.lebaron.ca/pdf_files_fall08/ice...ht_shelters.pdf $75!
  12. Oh sure - give her ANOTHER advantage over everyone else...
  13. I do that all the time. Amazing - thanks for giving me something to watch at work this morning!
  14. A woman calls her mother to tell her some exciting news, "Mom I'm pregnant again" Mother: Wow - again? Woman: Yeah, must be something in the air... Mother: Yeah - must be your legs
  15. Hey all - just an FYI - drove past this morning and noticed the dock seems to be gone and the ramp is blocked off.
  16. Hehah - that's why I'm considering a change - dont bother putting everything away - hanging hooks off the styrofoam in the canoe...yadda yadda..It's real fun when they get tangled in the net Thanks for all the feedback everyone - this is turning out to be quite the topic! Keep it coming! B
  17. Hi All, My tackle box is getting a bit capacitated - EDIT: ie I have crankbaits floating and tangled in the bottom of the box -which means one of two things - cut down (unlikely) or split get something that organizes my baits a bit better. I currently use an (older) Fenwick Black Hawk 6 (big heavy box). I am debating between a bag like THIS with removable/configurable boxes, or something like the.Plano 44 I haven't looked anywhere with a decent selection as yet - just a brief glance at Canadian Tire and Lebaron's in mississauga and I'm not sold on either. Looking for your suggestions/what you use. Any advice appreciated. Thanks B
  18. Hey - I'm going to start broad here and if you need more detail let me know. If you have the opportunity, pull the hard drive and scan it with Kaspersky or Avast (free trials) in another computer or a usb tray. Other people have recommended AVG here - EXCELLENT product, but as of late, the free version just hasn't been cutting it for us - the pay version (under $40 US) does a better job). Download the following (all can be found by a google search): Lavaosft Ad Aware (Ad Aware SE will run in safe mode, and although old, tends to be more effective than the most recent version if you can find it), AVG Anti spyware, McAfee Stinger. Also get the following: Kazaabegone, miniremoval_coolwebsearch_smartkiller, Hijack this, CWShredder, Kill2me, SmitFraudFix(will be detected by some programs as a virus itself - it isn't), and winsockxpfix. Next (or first if you don't have the resources to scan it with another computer) - restart the computer in safe mode - (hit F8 repeatedly on boot until you see a menu where you can pick Safe mode and hit enter). Once windows is loaded run them all in the order listed above. Then reboot into regular mode - run super anti spyware, and spybot search and destoy as a follow up. oh and btw - no warranties expressed or implied
  19. I'm not sure I ever want to revive a fish in Pike infested waters again... LOL...
  20. I've never been - but years ago I came across an article written about a lake in Cuba where 10lb+ bass were the norm (catch several in a day), and you would see atleast one substantially more than that in a day of fishing. I've been googling but can't find it again. I'll see if maybe I saved it somewhere and post back if I can come across it. B Edit: Okay so scratch that - can't find the article, but apparently EVERY lake produces largemouth bass like this. http://www.cubatravelusa.com/bass-fishing.htm Whatever you end up fishing for, make sure you get pictures! Enjoy your trip.
