  1. Anyone been able to figure these smallies out? I've been out and tried 8-20 feet of water with only a few small ones and a ton of perch. I'm heading back out tomorrow morning to give it another try. All of the smallies my brother caught were on perch coloured, jointed rapalas.
  2. Does anyone know where I can find a decent depth chart for this area? Looks like there could be a few hazards in the area.
  3. Thanks that is good to know. Nice to hear good things about the place too. My friend' father lives in north bay and said he's heard nothing but great things so I'm really excited to stay there.
  4. I am planning to attend Chalkley's Sandy Bay Cottage Resort this coming June and I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this resort? Also how is the fishing in the area near the resort? We will be targeting Pike, Bass, Walleye and probably I'll throw some Muskie baits. Thanks in advance for the information
  5. I used to buy all my gear at bass pro but lately my brother and I have been buying most of our gear from tackle warehouse. They have the brand new items well before bass pro carries them. There shipping prices are so reasonable that it is close to what it would cost for us to drive to bass pro. When I factor in the significantly lower prices, tackle warehouse gets my business.
  6. My goals are less specific. I want to catch my second muskie and another bass over 5lbs. I had my slowest fishing year ever last year so this year I want to turn things around and get back to catching some big fish.
  7. I use a Quantum Energy and love it. I can't compare it as I've never used the other reels but I've been using the energy for 4 years as a crankbait/spinnerbait reel and it has performed flawlessly.
  8. I was also in the tournament and ended up with a 3lb 0oz bucket but not even close to the leader. Last I saw the leader was 4.66lbs. I'm curious to hear how you made out also Flash. I think I saw your boat. Did you have 4 people on the boat? Good looking boat for sure.
  9. My brother was shopping around for a new spinning rod/reel combo about 3 weeks ago so I went with him down to basspro and we picked up every spinning reel there that was under $100. We came to the conclusion that the Pflueger President is the best bang for your buck in the store. It was the smoothest, best looking reel and the price was $65. My brother really wanted the KVD reel to match the KVD rod that he picked out but after holding the Pflueger and attaching it to the KVD rod it was the only choice. Here is a link to the President: Pflueger President
  10. I've seen some monster pike come out of the french river. Try Wolseley Lodge.
  11. My favourite bait to use is a 1/2oz Netbait Paca jig with a Yum Chunk trailer. I had more fun using this bait last year than any other bait I own.
  12. My wife and I just got a D3100 and the pictures are amazing. I couldn't be happier with it. The amount of detail is fantastic. I do agree with everyone else that says you probably can't go wrong with either.
  13. In this case you would in possession of 4 walleye. The 3 in your livewell and the one you just caught.
  14. I fished Dalrymple a half dozen times or so last year.
  15. I was there also. I watched the seminar and waited in line with my wife and brother in-law to get a book/autograph. Although I've always heard how nice Dave is this was my first time getting to actually meet him. All I can say is that I'm so impressed with Mr. Mercer. He took the time to get personal with everyone he spoke to. He was nice enough to sign his book, my hat and my brother in-laws hat. He also let us take a few pictures with him. Class act and reinforced why he is my favourite fisherman on television.
  16. It was between 6 and 6.5lbs caught on a black/blue tube on lake simcoe.
  17. Outstanding fish you caught there. Congrats on the record.
  18. got it working now. thank you for the help Gerritt
  19. yeah the website won't even show up for me. Thank you for trying though.
  20. i wouldn't mind receiving that same pm. I'm having trouble finding a good feed.
  21. From what I've heard you can't go wrong with the Mojo Bass. All around good rods at a very reasonable price.
  22. Thanks for the tips and advice. I can't wait to try out a few things and hopefully i'll come back on here saturday evening with a pic or two of some nice bass.
  23. I'm heading to Eugenia this coming weekend so lets start with there. My target will be largemouth but would not turn my nose up to some smallies either. Most of my luck in the past on Eugenia has been in 8-12 feet of water, drifting through the weed beds. I would imagine finding green weeds at this time of year would be very difficult. Is 8-12 feet a good starting point or should I look shallower/deeper?
  24. Hey all. I'm going to be heading out for a few bass fishing excursions in the next couple of weeks and I was wondering if anyone could provide some tips. I've never fished for bass this late in the year. How deep are they this time of year? Is a fast (spinnerbait/crankbait) or slow (plastics/jigs) they better way to go. I'm not looking for numbers at all i'm just looking for that one big fish. Thanks for the anticipated help.
  25. Was just out there yesterday. Lots of bass in that lake. I was told by a local there are speckled trout in there also but i've never tried to catch any. I managed a 4lb largemouth as well as a few smaller largemouth and a medium sized smallie. Saw lots of perch as well. Hope that helps.
