  1. Funny you say that. The colour combo is my favorite colour combo but i'm only a fan of the broncos. The mets shirt was a gift from my inlaws. Always seems that i'm wearing those colours when i catch good sized fish. Thanks for all the kind words. If i remember correctly i placed that fish back in around 2-15 feet of water
  2. Anytime. I've had enough people on this site help me out over the years so i figure doing the odd report here and there can allow me to start returning the favour.
  3. So I was at Elephant lake lodge this past weekend and I must say we were treated like kings again. It's a great lodge on a great chain of lakes. We arrived on friday and it was pouring rain. We waited till about 1pm and headed out on the water. Came across a few small 19-22 inch pike but nothing worthy of a picture. At that point we decided to make a move to a shallow weed bed and see if we could get a bucketmouth or two to bite. We landed a few more small pike and a couple of bass. This was the largest bass of the weekend. On one of the other boats a 30" pike was landed but there was no camera on that boat. On Saturday and Sunday it was insanely hot and sunny and the fishing was a great deal more difficult. Saturday morning we took a run over to Baptiste to try to find the fish but it was still very difficult to put together a decent pattern. We slowed things down and managed a half dozen more bass and about the same number of pike. Of the fish caught most were on different baits and different colours. My personal best bait was a 1/2oz netbait flippin jig in crawdad colour with a YUM chunk also in crawdad. Flippin the weeds and banks landed a few bass, including the above bass, and even a few pike. Overall it was a great weekend and a great time. Any time out on the water sure beats time at work.
  4. I hope Carwin takes it just because I like his attitude. He isn't cocky like Lesnar is. I hope it goes a few rounds though just because I want to watch a good long fight and not one that is over in the first round again.
  5. My brother thorws a white/red chatterbait all the time as his go to bait. He catches more fish on that bait than most people catch on all their tackle combined. He has had unreal luck with it. I went out and bought some chatterbaits but have had very little luck with them. I guess it's all about confidence.
  6. I'm going to be up in Pembroke for the weekend so i'm going to be just looking for somewhere to try and bass fish. My goal of the year is to learn and master pitching jigs. I can't wait to start using them. While in Pembroke i'll probably start using spinnerbaits and if they don't produce move to tube jigs. I won't have room to bring up all of my rods so i'll just stick to one universal rod and throw some basic baits.
  7. My friends and I have always seemed to find decent numbers of pike and bass in the above mentioned 10 FOW weed beds. Work the rock points for some good size smallmouth and the shallow weed beds for the largemouth. I have only caught one muskie there but have seen two others caught and they were all off of 10-12 FOW weed beds. I'll be heading up July 9th-11th so keep us all posted with how you make out.
  8. I have a pail of leeches and used one so far and it was last summer. I put an octopus hook through one end and threw it out weightless. Within 2 minutes my line started moving. Ended up being a decent 3-3.5 lb largemouth. In my opinion it works.
  9. This won't work in the summer but a few years ago there was a large group of us guys ice fishing. One of the guys cooked up some chicken wings so when i went into the cabin to have some food they all pulled up my line and tied on a lobster. Then one of the guys came running into the cabin saying "Todd you got one on your line, look at the bend on your rod!". I ran out, reeled it in and stood there with the most dumbfounded look on my face. I've never been so confused and boy was it funny.
  10. I use Spiderwire stealth on almost all of my rods. From 15 lb on some of my bass gear all the way up to 80lb on my muskie gear. All of it is very very strong and i've never had a problem with it. I recently put some invisibraid on my newest reel and have been catching fish at a good rate with no problems. I find that everyone will have a different opinion. Just try two or three kinds out over the years and you will find one you like best. My brother always uses powerpro and i don't think he'll ever change to anything else. All personal preference.
  11. Also lake Eugenia is not too far away from Orangeville. Less than an hour. Lots of good bass in there but a very busy place on weekends.
  12. It looks like I might not get my chance after all. My wife made plans for me to go visit friends in Pembroke. Any good shore fishing spots up there?
  13. I'll be going for Largemouth. Boy oh boy i can't wait. This year i teach myself how to pitch jigs so i'm excited to catch my first fish using this technique.
  14. Exactly what I was thinking when i read the topic. My friends and I go to Elephant Lake Lodge every year and always have good luck. Have seen everything from Muskie, walleye, large and smallmouth bass, perch and pike on this lake. If you go there you won't be disappointed. www.elephantlake.com My link
  15. Oh those pictures sure make me want to get out bass fishing. Only 23 more days.............oh that seems like forever
  16. I will have to give that a try. Thanks for the tip.
  17. I lived less than 5 minutes from Hockley Valley Resort for most of my life and for me the best fishing in the area is Island Lake in Orangeville. Lots of small pike and as of June 26th the bass bite is good also. I`d go give Island Lake a shot and see if you can pull in a pike or two.
  18. I too am wondering about the Trokar hooks. I use all Gamakatsu hooks right now and have never had an issue with them. I have never had any issues with the hook not penetrating the fish upon hook set. Maybe one day I will pick up a pack and try them out.
  19. Yeah i wasn't overly impressed with those fights either. The Jackson vs Evans fight was a huge let down and borderline boring for me. I'm sure glad i didn't pay $50 to watch that. Knockout of the night has Russow on Duffee. That was one heck of a lucky punch. That`s the good thing about those heavy weights, it only takes one punch.
  20. Hahaha perfect thanks for the play by play. Who needs to waste hours watching the event when i can get play by play here. I may try veetle.com. Do i need to download anything to use it?
  21. Anyone have any good sites where I can watch the fights tonight? Sites that i don't have to provide personal information like my cell number or anything? I can't wait to see Rampage knock out Evans tonight. Todd
  22. Glad to hear you really like your 27B's. I did a lot of research and I found the 27B to be the best bang for your buck. For only $10 more than the 27 the gains are much better.
  23. I just started fishing Dalrymple this spring and so far every outing has been better and better. First trip out we only boated 2 fish. Second trip out we boated 8 fish and then this past Thursday we boated 12 fish. I'm really started to develop a pattern on this lake. My best advice would be to look for green weeds and use firetiger coloured baits. This has been the knockout punch for me. Or try a 1/4 oz chart jig and 3" orange grub and just slow troll the grub. The Pike will come screaming after it.
  24. Do you have the SRM-27 or the SRM-27B? My brother and I just picked up two SRM-27B's this winter and installed them into the boat. We replaced a single SRM-27 (which still worked fine we just wanted longer life) and I had the boat out the other day with the two batteries and it was outstanding. Had that trolling motor running almost all day long (6-8hrs) and it never dropped in power at all. This will come in handy when we are up north where we don't have access to power for recharging and when it is very windy. Overall though we are very happy with all the interstate batteries we've had.
  25. Welcome. I look forward to hearing about your Muskie outings. I do a bit of muskie fishing also but this year I'll be going for only big bass as of june 26th.
