  1. Really? I thought mullets were a saltwater fish.
  2. Children are everyone's responsibility, because if their parents make poor decisions, we must defend a helpless child. That's why we have compulsory education standards, and other programs to ensure that all children get a chance in life. Someone must be held responsible in all this.
  3. Agree totally. But one thing that really burns my butt is that everyone seems to be all over the parents, and the judge who sided with them, but nobody seems to be going after the charlatans who run the fraudulent money-grubbing 'clinic' that takes people's money and watches them die, fully knowing that they are providing snake oil. My hatred for such people may get me into trouble one day, because my patience is wearing out.
  4. Some of you may have heard this story already, but it's pertinent to the subject. Back in about '96 I took my four year-old daughter Meagan out for some fishing. Found a nice looking spot for bass: a quiet bit of flat water full of weeds, not long before sunset. I put a Jitterbug on, threw it out, gave it a a short burble back, and let it stop. I was just about to hand it to Meagan when WHAM!, and the fight was on. If I had given her the rod she would have been waterskiing for the next half hour. Muskie, 42.5 inches, 21.25 lbs. I love topwater, but never expected that.
  5. Possibly, but I don't get out much in the winter. Exposure to cold can set off my IBS, not fun when ya gotta run!
  6. A member of the Ontario Field Ornithologists e-mail list reported seeing three of them over Finch and 404 on Thursday. Good to see them making a comeback.
  7. Saw this display combination yesterday at the Loblaws in Pickering

  9. I'm in that area frequently, I'll definitely check it out. Thanks!
  10. There are always a few in the Toronto area each winter. They like rolling surf, so you'll see them gleefully swimming around in conditions that would make any other duck sea-sick.
  11. Curry goat roti, had one just yesterday. Unfortunately Monica can't stand the smell, so it's a rare treat.
  12. Anyone have any dealings with them? If so you might want to get more info ASAP. A friend just got contacted on facebook by a friend of his who posted a picture of a notice on their window, apparently it went down yesterday at 5pm. If they lock down everything it could be bad news for anyone who has a boat there.
  13. He is, and all-around nice guy.
  14. Just got this on my facebook feed: "Xzone Lures inc. is offically up for sale-please let me know if you are interested!"
  15. Okay. Up until about 5 or 6 years ago Subaru had a big problem with head gaskets, even with the best maintenance you couldn't get more than around 300,000km out of them before they blew. Because of the horizontally opposed engine design the coolant pools on the gasket, leading to premature corrosion. Pretty sure the problem was rectified, but its something you might want to investigate.
  16. As an aside, what year is it, and how much on the odometer?
  17. I've owned two Subarus, and having a small dealer network is one of the infuriating things about them. Any specific problem, Ryan?
  18. Never launched there, but I've fished there often, last time about a month ago. Seemed okay, and lots of people launch there, so it should be fine.
  19. Seems we get into these wrangles every week. Anybody ever thought to just call the MNR? I'm sure they have a phone number. Heck, the government might have splurged and hooked them up to that interweb thingy. Maybe we should get a CO on the board as a consultant, pay them off in doughnuts or something, and they can be called upon whenever the subject of regulations comes up.
  20. I like 'em!
  21. Rule #1: Don't drink and ride. Rule #2: If your ATV is so wimpy that it gets stuck on railway tracks, it shouldn't really be called an ATV. Man makes narrow escape as ATV is slammed by CN train ATV was stuck on the tracks http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/man-makes-narrow-escape-as-atv-is-slammed-by-cn-train-1.2792530?cmp=fbtl&utm_content=buffer36199&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer
  22. Meh, if you can afford one of those, you can afford another.
  23. Just received this on my facebook page:
  24. Flew directly over our place in Pickering this morning, the sound of four RR Merlins was sweet music!
