Don't know who told you there was a season last year, but find them and give them a smack. I just found the 2014 regulations in the back of my car, and FMZ 5 says bass were open all year. There were limits, under a sport license you could only take 4, conservation license 2, and they had to be less than 35cm, and from January 1 to June 30. At all other times they appear to be unregulated.

I've never understood that either. Up here you couldn't easily get that shot with a 300mm lens, I've tried. But on the Anhinga Trail in the Everglades you can reach out and tickle them under the chin.

They're also introduced in Ontario, they were originally restricted to the Mississippi drainage and nearby waters. As were largemouth, if I recall correctly.

As I've mentioned before on this board, ice fishing is not for me. If I get a cold draft across my abdominal area it can set off a bad IBS attack, not the best thing to have when you're bundled up and away from a toilet. But... You've given me an idea. I get someone to modify my car so that I have a hatch in the passenger side floor. Drive out to a good spot, drill a hole, drop a line. Keeps me out of the wind, and right inside my transport if I need to make a quick sprint to the little boy's room. Dang, I'm a genius!

Fishing stuff is on there, but not easy to find. On the home page click on 'Search Store' in the upper right, and then go to 'Products'. They really need to redo that web site for better navigation. There are waaaaay more people who fish than hunt, they need to target better.
