  1. I've used light brown before but I can't seem to get use to them. Anyhow many people love the light brown over grey. http://www.dicksspor...egoryId=1179922 "Brown Considered by many to be the best all-around tint for fishing. Provides excellent contrast and true color perception. Great for shallow water stream and flats fishing in medium to bright light." Also http://www.bassdozer...unglasses.shtml "A Word about Color. The orangish amber lenses are not the most stylish color, but they are the optimum lenses for fishing in broad daylight - at least for my eyes. This color cuts the sunlight's glare, and gives you the ability to see under the cover of the water's reflective surface. They offer high contrast and improved depth perception. You can see clearer and with less distortion. Glare and haze that normally blur our field of underwater view are neutralized. Most importantly, anything green, including old moss back, will stick out like a sore thumb against a non-green background. For general boating, fishing muddy water or deep water, a neutral gray lens is more attractive and more functional than amber. Optically, a gray lens provides uniform absorption of most colors in the spectrum. Grey creates neither color distortion nor enhancement. Gray provides an accurate, precise shading for your eyes on the most brilliant of sunny days."
  2. What are the chances of breaking the right pinky..... 1 in 10 lol
  3. yep I broke my right pinky too Tjsa. My broken finger joint must have grown some extra bone during healing. The joint is too tight to flex and no amount of rehab will fix it. It would have to be opened up and the bone shaved down to normal size to make it flex all he way again
  4. Just go to the hospital to get it checked just in case, get xrayed. Worst thing is if it is broken through the joint (my finger), then you might not be able to ever bend it to full flexion ever again. All they do is use a popsicle stick splint, but it was good to know from xray if it is truely broken or not.
  5. One theory I was reading about was constant pulling weakens the line and using a weaker leader to save your braid would make it last longer. I will find the link. brb. edit: here http://www.striperso...ad.php?t=497830 Also maybe you have a defective batch, I would take it back and get it exchanged. more edit: I've had pretty good luck with the power pro. Broke only once on me in 2 years. But I heard it is made with 4 strands and I will be trying 6 stranded braid like Sufix Performance Braid this year for pike fishing.
  6. that's incorrect, polarization is good for seeing the fishies and what they are planning lol. UV protection will protect your eyes from damage. So look for UV a and UV B protection eg UV400 If they made some really good sunglasses for clarity and contrast (that I would say "wow" when looking through) for say $50 that meets the features I want, that would be a good fishing investment pair for me. I already have a few more expensive fashion sunglasses that I use that I treat much better than my sport/fishing sunglasses.
  7. I just purchased some cheapies to use for $10 My link I purchased based on features rather than style. Wanted polarized, light weight, big comfortable nose piece, wrap around because peripheral sunlight bugs me, and one lense between my eyes rather than 2pcs lens for easier viewing. I don't think you can fairly compare them to a more expensive pair made with better materials, scratch proof lenses, etc. I tend to lose them and scratch them easily in various sports, so I view my sunglasses as a disposable item. I learned my lesson when I ended up breaking a $60 pair. I'm also assuming more expensive glasses are made with higher tolerances, ans give better contrast, clarity etc, but I also think some of the expensive glasses such as Nike for $160 is you paying extra for that logo. youtube video for the differences in lenses colour. I read red lenses are useless, yellow great for target practice, light brown for driving and golf. Also watched a video of an optometrist saying blue lenses are more for fashion than functionality. I ended up getting the light grey %15 penetration which seems standard. Was wishing for a 12% for extremely bright days.
  8. Kind of hard to say without empirical data from both companies to back up their comments. Maybe tackletour could sit down and do a strength test (using the same knot) and then an underwater visibility test after nicking both lines. Of course they would have to emulate a fishes eye visible spectrum. Also would be cool if they could do the visibility test at different depths. I doubt line visibility matters too much in stained water and to a pike. Clear water for trout on the other hand..
  9. I was at another fishing forum where the fishing reports are separated from the main forum. The only way to access the fishing reports is to submit a detailed fishing report of your own. When your fishing report is approved by the mods then you are granted access to the others fishing reports. Also noticed the fishing reports were subdivided geographically for easy reference.

  12. "The United States Navy implemented a program in 1960 to work with dolphins and sea lions in order to help with defense, mine detection, and design of new submarines and new underwater weapons. The Navy did many tests with several marine mammals to determine which would be best for the jobs they needed done. "More than 19 species were tested, including some sharks and birds." Eventually, the bottlenose dolphin and California sea lion were shown to be the best at what the Navy needed them for. The bottlenose dolphins' asset was their highly evolved biosonar, helping to find underwater mines, and the sea lions' asset was their impeccable underwater vision, which can help to detect enemy swimmers. In fiscal year 2007, the United States Navy donated $14 million to marine mammal research on weapons and their training programs such as object recovery and mine detection. Next year the U.S Navy will begin deploying dolphins to patrol the North Korean coastline to monitor and report Korean mine laying and also shoot at North Korean patrol craft. The U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program will also be training more aggressive dolphins to take more active rolls in ambush type missions off the coast of Somalia to help reduce piracy and ship hijackings. The most skilled dolphins will be trained to lob floating grenades and shoot at small Somali pirate crafts. "
  13. I was waiting for him to hook her red top with a backcast.
  14. Nice fish. Looks great in the picture and you had fun catching them. Congrats!
  15. What a sweet child. I must be getting soft in my old age because when I see little kids enjoying their first few years of life and looking at everything around them in wonderment, it warms my heart. Found this humorous today: http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/03/how-fish-almost-destroyed-my-childhood.html

  17. Have you checked to see if air rifles for varmit shooting would fit your needs better? You'll still need pal for the higher FPS guns.
  18. And sometimes I'm afraid to handle a muskie during hook removal...
  19. "CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – Winston, the dog that ate a Chattanooga Police car, is headed home. Winston’s owners settled out of court with the City of Chattanooga. The pit-bull mix will be handed back over to his owners today. The terms of the agreement require Winston to go to obedience training classes. Winston must behave for six months. At that time the case will dropped. All fines were waived. The City has not said if a civil suit will be filed to pay for the damages to the car."
  20. There's 2 fenced off areas with huts now. The older one closer to the river is used by an oriental couple. They grow bean type things (fava beans???). Then in late summer I see them lay them out on a large tarp and dry them. The new area is used by what I think is two eastern European guys. I think this will be their first season of planting. Don't know if they are there illegally or renting from Crown.
  21. I Did see a salmon/steelhead last spring when I was looking from the bridge. Looking north from the bridge last summer. http://imgur.com/1ikMu.jpg
  22. Bruce, when I work and the supervisor does not want anyone to install anything on the computer, I just use my $10 usb key and load it with portable firefox, and ebooks. It leaves little to no footprint on the computer and does not install anything. At the end of the night I just yank the usb key out. http://portableapps.com/ If worst comes to worst and you can't up the resolution of the work computer then lo-fi is your best bet. edited for spelling.
  23. . double post for some reason? read it two post down.
  24. A buddy sent me this game link today. Don't miss the shot though. http://bored.com/game/play/137/Apple_Shooter.html
  25. Some people are making it sound like we've upgraded from a totally different board. I'm only noticing minor changes on the front end, none of which get in the way of the most valued and important thing about the forum, the content of the posts. Same thing happens when you buy a new car, don't like where some of the dials are on the dashboard, seats feel different and foreign, etc. Should we give up driving? Of course not. You'll get use to it quickly. edit: The pros far outweigh the cons of the new board. Security is so important these days especially when an insecure forum can be destroyed by hackers so easily. Thanks guys for the "new" forum. My only negative is that the new board is lacking french fashion models. We always need more of those.
