  1. Blacks photos until September 6, 2011, you can print 50 photos for just $5! I used the service with their last sale, uploaded my 50 pics from home using their photo software and went to the store to pick them up. I got 50 nice 5" X 7" fishing and family pics for $5+tax instead of the regular price of around $18. Thought some of you would like in on the good deal. Cheers. http://www.blacks.ca/User/feeds/blog/id/6597 "Sadly, summer is over. But you can make summer last a little longer by printing out all your summer photos so the memories will last forever. And we’ve got a great Labour Day printing offer to make it easy for you! From now until September 6, 2011, you can print 50 photos for just $5! The bigger, better 6×8 print size is an ideal choice for your summer memories. At twice the size of a 4×6 and such a great deal when you get 50, how can you resist? We also carry a complete line of 6×8 albums, frames, mat boards, and refill pages for all your storage needs. And since 6×8 already matches the ratio of your compact digital camera (4:3), you don’t need to worry about cropping every photo to new dimensions before printing — they’ll come out looking just like they did on the back of the camera. Not going away this weekend? What better way to spend it than by reliving memories from this summer, organizing them, and not letting them linger on your hard drive as JPEGs forever. Don’t have time to come pick them up this weekend? No problem — just submit your order before the deadline (upload from home!) and come pick them up next week, next month, or whenever it’s convenient for you. See an Expert Associate in store for more details."
  2. ebay of course! tackle warehouse is good too, shipping is a bit high, starts at $7 then jumps to $12 (A few worm packs $12 regular 2 week shipping, so $15 express shipping made more sense to use.) landbigfish has reasonable shipping, but prices on some things are higher than tackle warehouse. Sometimes I order from Doc's fly box for hard to find things. Lately I've been ordering tons from lurepartsonline, huge variety, great prices and very reasonable shipping rate. Mostly for musky inline spinners and spinner bait heads. Love building my own because I can build how I like it at a fraction of the cost of a retail cowgirl.
  3. Usually I buy these when on sale (free shipping) from Dell. Eneloop rechargeable http://accessories.d...s1&sku=A0958680 Also I heard Duracell white tops from Super store are the same battery or just as good. I saw these battery coupons at save.ca for the Energizer Lithiums http://save.ca/coupons
  4. I'll be pike trolling and exploring the East side of the lake (East and North of Echo Rock) on Thur or Fri depending on the weather. Looks like the temp will cool down considerably after the Wed thunderstorm. I'll report back if I catch anything worth mentioning.
  5. I just loosen my wrist a bit to have more rod give for the head shake. As soon as the quick head shake stops, I firm up my wrists. Keep a good hand grip on the rod at all times though. Also I never get into a situation where I have the rod loaded up too much (say 1/2 bend rod) because if the lure slips it comes back at me at 100 mph. Now using a 8'6" XH rod so it can handle the biggies without too much rod bend. Was using a 7' med-heavy previously but that looked like an ultalight rod when I'd have a pike or muskie over 40". Also it sucked at throwing 2oz+ lures, so a heavier action rod was needed. It being longer was a bonus too.Now I can get even deeper on the figure "8"'s.
  6. very sharp hook needed. Trailer hook could be very useful too. I'm making a spinnerbait with a hook thats not in the jig head itself but attached by a split ring. This should help greatly with reducing shake offs by pike. I think they are able to throw the spinnerbait because of the weight leverage of the jig head. Of course now I have to pour my own jig heads from a custom mold. oh and its bony mouth requires a firm hookset, harder than a bass. Yeah you can't horse them to the boat. I just play it by eye. As soon as they see me up close and my buddy with the net they tend to freak, so I just let them out about 10-20feet by loosening the drag slightly. Then reel in slowly and see what happens when it reaches near the boat again. Prepare for a tired pike or another run. I had a pike just give up immediately on a hookset last year. So kind of be ready for anything. Proper drag setting is critical especially on the bigger ones. Don't be afraid to adjust drag slightly while fish fighting.
  7. on a side note: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704518904575365362932852610.html?KEYWORDS=sunglasses
  8. You could do that but I'm often switching lures of varying shapes and weights so I need something that goes on and off quickly. I use a quality ball baring swivel and somewhere on the line I use a rubber inline sinker I like to keep it a few feet away from the lure on the flouroleader, some times above the swivel on the main line but I hear that cause more line twists. Usually never over 1 oz and I knot a thin elastic band to keep it from sliding too much. If its keeping too high I slow down the boat more often or S curve and let it flutter down more often. If I need to make a pike 1.5 oz spinnerbait or muskie inline spinner heavier, I clamp one of the inline sinkers inside of the skirt on the wire hidden out of view. I don't like the pinch on weight types because I don't want them crimping my line. The rubber strips on the sinkers in the pic come on and off quickly and its aerodynamically shaped too.
  9. How deep are you talking about? Normally to cover long areas of bottom vegetation say in 20-30+ft of water, I'll troll flashy spoons 4-6", 2oz spinnerbaits, 3 oz double colorado inline spinners. I try to keep the lure 4-8 feet above the vegetation depending on water clarity. I start with 50-100 ft off the side of the boat and vary speed 3+ mph. I like to throw a few wide S curves with the boat which is great at causing the lure (especially spoons) to change direction and flutter down a few feet and can trigger a strike. If you can locate suspending baitfish using a fishfinder in deeper water say 30-50 ft+ keep looking and see if you can see a bigger echo. Thats your pike or muskie. Then you could jig for it. oh and I set my drag just slightly tighter than the resistance of the lure pull. You need it loose enough so not to snap the line when a fish turns its head and takes the lure or you snag up on weeds, and tight enough in case you need to pull the rod to do a good hookset. But if you sharpen your hooks well the pike/muskie basically hooks itself well at 3+mph so I find an extra pull to make sure the hook is set is unnecessary most of the time. Lazy but effective way to fish imo, usually I have a sandwich in the other hand
  10. I rented from there 2 weeks ago. Boat was $100 total until 8pm. We had the option of renting it until next day morning for another $35. Was told people camp over night and fish next day early morning. I was recently debating buying portable boat lights for $100 to make the boat night usable although I heard there are no muskie at 6 mile. But dusk and early morning fishing is defiantly cool. When I was at 6mile the bite started picking up at 7:30pm when we were bringing the boat back. LMB and pike were getting really active biting aggressively within 10-15 ft from the boat.
  11. Making custom spinnerbaits

  12. Much better than last year. Was there yesterday, caught a few LM and pike under 30" nothing big. I lost a few pike on spinnerbaits so might want to use a sharped trailer hook. Trebles were good but I was hooking too many weeds. Mostly used spinnerbaits, spoon trolling, caught nothing using plastic worms . Even managed to hook a gar pike (they were swimming in a group of 3) but was relived it got unhooked before landing it. Was not in the mood to deal with its crazy teeth. Swimming was good too. Tried looking for a public sand beach but nothing found so far.
  13. Great job! Looks like a good size. But how did you survive in those track pants. Weather is soooo hot.
  14. Start up the water cannons!
  15. I like when the camera man shows clips of the game fans.
  16. Why 55? We need bring back Vanilla Coke.
  17. Holy Freaking cow, my eyes got wider and wider as I scrolled down. Great job! Did the bear fit in the net or did you use a 10 fot muskie cradle?
  18. Good to see you enjoying life! Happy birthday. Good color tips too. Can't wait to try my swim baits too.
  19. Pull out the camera and film what they are doing. Write a letter to the instructor body who governs water ski instructors (if there is one), marina operator, and report to police. Post video on youtube. Also is there a local governing body for the home owners you could show the video to or someone in local government who takes care of the area?
  20. I'm not embarrassed to ask for a 5-10 minute talk/demo at the boat to show motor operation, local hazards ( using my map), anything special going on at the lake, etc. Noticed a small percentage of the motors we use have their own quirks. The dock hand is there anyhow filling up my gas tank, so why not ask. Good boating practice should not be the sole responsibility of the marina owner. It can get quite serious out there on the lake even when you are boating properly.
  21. The marinas I rent from kept asking for boating license last year even though I remember reading for day rentals you don't need a license but they go through a safety checklist with you. Just ask them about the license when your are calling to reserve the boat.
  22. Well...except BPS will just call Vaughn mall security and they would tell him to get off their private property and possibly bar him for 6 months-1 year+. Online media could reach many more people. Other Bass fishing forums, Boating forums, etc. The small claims court idea mentioned earlier sounds like a good bet if the insurance company does not come to the rescue. Best of luck and I hope it gets fixed/replaced to your satisfaction.
  23. Portugal 7-0 in the 88th min against North Korea. Crazy lol.
