Both the unions & the big 3 made their mess. Bailout won't fix it. They need to crash & burn otherwise they can't learn from their mistakes. We live in a democratic society funded by capitalism,,its not perfect but it has given us some the best standards of living in the world. 1) we need to stop living beyond our means 2) & develop value that cannot be off-shored - e.g post secondary education in engineering, law, medicine, etc... If you want to buy product at competitive prices then you can't stop globalization. Manufacturing will die in Canada. Services and intellectually skilled jobs will flourish We are in for a world of hurt...and we caused it. We better start being accountable. If you are still young enough, get back to school, even night school. Learn a skill that is marketable in our new economy. Take responsibility for your own fiscal world & live with your means, if you want something then save for it. If you don't understand the financial markets then don't trust your savings to someone else. Invest in something you do understand e.g. real-estate, bait&tackle shop Sorry for the rant but there are too many people trying to pass the blame on this. I'm just as guilty and this is the beginning of my wake-up call...

Awsome results! We are fishing BoQ this coming weekend. Could we so bold as to solicit some advice? Such as what you where using, how deep and approximately where (no secret spots though) just general area, e.g. Telegraph Narrows, Hay Bay, cement plant, Ferry, Aldolphus Reach, etc.... We had a tough time last year and hope not to get skunked.... Many Thanks, Ted

I read that torpedo divers where working. Any comments? Could you run them behind an inline planner board?

Lowrance x67c ice machine...great battery life & fast flasher. I use it as my bow mounted FF during summer.

@ end of season I do fill my tank with High Octane (0% ethanol which does absorb water) & double up on Marine Stabil. My main concern is that any rubber items in the fuel system (seal, fuel line, etc....) will dry out or degrade if not kept wet. Cheers Ted

I made a frame out of 2x3's attached a set of used snow ski's and used a 189l storage tub on one side & a bracket for ice auger on the other side. For a tow bar I used 3/4" EMT conduit. Hammered ends & drilled for attaching to snowmobile trailer hitch & sled. Galvanized hardware & large washers make the connection. Works great!

Yes Wayne...pls do stop by...will will indulge you with libations! Likewise Mike..it should be a blast! Cheers, Ted

That was funny! I had forgot about that....frozen fuel line too...this year high octane (no ethanol)!

Ok now I'm pumped! Looking forward to seeing the group next weekend. I'm bringing inline planer boards, rapala deep diving lures (Jumala's where out of stock). What else do you think will work & where? e.g. live bait, Hay Bay I like east of ferry (2 line per person) & N.E. of cement plant. But I have not really tried anywhere else, where do you think is worth trying? What do techniques should we try? Logistics: Things I'll bring: small portable Coleman Stove/BBQ Stuff for fish fry (wishful thinking!) outdoor canopy tunes! Playing Cards for Euchre & Chips for poker Is there a fire pit? Should we try for a pot luck on Saturday night? What about a pool for largest/most walleye? Cheers! Ted

For four strokes it is recommended to remove plugs and squirt some motor oil into each cylinder, reinstall plugs and turn engine over without plug wires connected to circulate oil through cylinders.

Buy galvanized...its worth every penny....lasts twice as long as painted steel

It's been researched that we will tolerate ~$1.50/ltr before we will start altering our way of life... Problem is that many suburban communities exist based on using cheap oil to commute to larger urban centres, shopping, school, etc... We will end up like Europe with many small villages and local shops...hmmm ...not such a bad idea...

i'm here in downtown Montreal...I have never seen any thing like it. 10's of thousands of screaming Habs fans. Streets blocked by crowds & cars, Cops in riot gear blocking major intersections along st Cathrine...it's a insane party..yee haw! I watched the game @ Thursday's on Crescent...what a blast!

Oil Change question for 30HP Honda 4 stroke
tschirk replied to Fisherpete's topic in General Discussion
Make sure you replace both nylon washers on the lower unit plugs when you do a fluid change (My Honda BF90 has them & I assume smaller Hondas are the same). Also there is an aluminum washer on the oil drain plug that should be changed every few oil changes. Cheers, Ted -
Make sure you break it in properly (5-10 hrs), & use a variable load , e.g. toaster-add a blow drier-then add a 500w work lights, etc.. Once broken in change oil. I replaced with synthetic. Run stabil through engine, fill tank & Fog engine. - Ready for a rainy day...

What is the weight of each topedo? Why are they any better than an ordinary inline weight?
