  1. I have been charging my main & trolling batteries off of my Honda 90 for years. Very Simple set up uses a solenoid to bridge the + terminals on each battery together only when the motor is running. I found a 12vdc can type in the RV accessories section at Crappy Tire connect a 6AWG or better between both - terminals Using 6AWG wire the solenoid to connect between the each + terminals. Make sure you wire a 30A inline fuse. Connect the solenoid control lead to the accessory power on the motors ignition. It works great! Ted
  2. If this is like most Ministries the real power lies with the deputy minister who has been in place for a while and "advises" the minister on most policies...
  3. Yo Dawg: Tough call. I have Garmin 60CSX GPS & also use Lowrance LMS334iGPS. Maps are incompatible but you can use Fugawi to transfer waypoints between the 2. IMHO: Garmin is better GPS. Lowarnace has better software for FF & excellent service To me power is number 1 feature & $/watt Garmin is usually the better deal. Ping me if you wish to discuss... Cheers Ted
  4. Hey Homy... I am solo and have a lots o' room in the boat ... you're welcome aboard! Cheers Ted
  5. Last month I went in there to buy a Garmin GPS60CSX and asked if they would match RadioWorlds price. The clerk called over the manager ( a lady who's name escapes me) and was indignantly told that they do not match prices with companies the likes of Radio World. I was blown away by her comment & attitude... Never again will I go there ( and I work near there at Bay/Wellington). I am still stunned by her actions....
  6. I updated my profile pic and it shows up when I view my profile but it does not display in any messages that I post ??? Any ideas how to correct? I am sure it is something simple that I have overlooked. Many Thanks Ted
  7. Hey Lew I have the previous years model LMS334iGPS And I am quite happy with it. The maps aren't cheap but work great. Cheers Ted
  8. Ola!
  9. Hey all It's been a long time since I have been on the board ...I hope all of you are well? ...new job, lot's of travel... I noticed the upcoming G2G Nov 17 @ Merland BoQ. Are there any open spots? I can bring my boat. Lots of room. Pls ping me at teschirk @ cisco . com (remove anti-spam spaces) Cheers Ted
  10. Hey Lew What are you looking for? Prices are all over the map for electronics due to the US/Cdn dollar. I just bought a new Garmin GPSMAP 60csx for GPSCITY in Calgary for $100 less than in Toronto where I work. Radioworld guyz are top notch though...
  11. Impeller may be seperated from the hub and free spinning...
  12. I have been fishing the lower French for 10 years. DO NOT head down to the bay with out a guide and I strongly suggest you go in his boat. As mentioned earlier several people have died including a Native Guide. No way I would take my 'glass boat down there either. If you launch from Hartley Bay, there is hundreds of miles of fishable water without going to the 'Bay. Cheers, T
  13. 1) Timing is everything when they are feeding, not much you can do about that... 2) Next find their preferred temp this will give you the best depth, usualy 49-51deg F 3) take your favorite spoon, I like a large Lucky Strike Canoe, pearl colour with one large red dot 3a) remove the hook (leaving split ring attached to spoon) and replace with a snap swivel 3b) Using a 3-4" minnow make a small length wise incision in it's throat and feed the buisness end of the snap swivel through it's mouth, down it's throat and out the incision. 3c) attach a ultra sharp (e.g. Gamagatsu) treble hook to the now exposed busienss end of the snap swivel, this gives the best action on the minnow/spoon combo 4) I like to use 30lbs no stretch line like Fireline or PowerPro with a 4-6ft, 20lbs Seagar florocarbon leader with a 9ft rod like a Shimano TDR. 5) I use down riggers for getting to the right depth but dipsey divers with a shock cord are a good alternative. You could use inline weights or lead core line. Old timers prefer steel line. 6) check lure a action beside boat, speed should be ~ 1.5mph Good Luck
  14. I'm usually the 1st to buy something like this and I did give it serious thought, but when I considered that no one except Humminbird is selling a consumer version, I decided to wait until names like Lowrance & Garmin get into the game. While the sidescan is not new in comercial markets, I don't trust 1st generation consumer technology especially from someone like Humminbird. Cheers, T
  15. What's up? PM me. Ted
  16. Force was the old OEM motor for Bayliner boats. Not sure who made them but they where generaly percieved as entry level quality. I would have your locally Marina advise you if they are even servicable anymore. And if so, then do a complete inspection, compression test, etc...
  17. IMHO Garmin makes the best GPS & Lowrance make the best FF. seperate units mean that if one fails the other is not affected. Colour (which I have) is not necessary for FF as sound(sonar ping) is one dimensional, gray-scale is actualy easier to interpret, transducer power is more important. My $0.02....
  18. Go with #10AWG to reduce voltage drop and improve power transfer. Use fine -multi-stranded -tinned wire to handle vibration & corrosion. Use inline fuse right @ battery on + wire. If cable run is more than a few feet then twist cables together to reduce RF interference with FF etc.. Use a twist lock plug like Irish said. BTW: I was electronics field engineer.
  19. 7 yrs and counting...used my cig money to pay for a fishing boat...never looked back...still miss it but I would miss my boat more...
  20. I am a BEV customer when I switched to HD I called Bell and told them I was switching to rogers HD. They gave me a deal...free install for new LNB & PVR & moved old reciever to 2nd TV, got free 3 month rental on 9220PVR, and free HD channels for 6months. I love competition. I just built a new custom home theatre....the 9220 PVR via HDMI connected to a Panasonic AX100u projector & DIY 100" Screen painted with Goo Screen & custome stage cabinetry, Yamaha 2700 driving Paradigm Studio Monitors with 2 -10" subs, room has 7 zones of X10 macro controlled lighting.... I can't leave the basement now
  21. I have a 2005 Pathfinder. My 1st requirement was as a tow vehice. It tows like a dream. You can't beat it's utility. It is the same but shorter frame of the Titan. I've had it with Ford & GM lots of lip service about quality but the worst customer service and failure to stand behind products. I had 9 new vehciles over 12 years mostly GM and will never go back.... E.g I was getting 50K km wear on GM brakes. I have 75K KM and my Pathfinder brakes still have 60% life! No product is perfect but the big 3 still not there... BTW: did you know it costs you aprox $1,500 for GM pension fund if you buy a new GM? So if the product is competivley priced that means GM has to compensate else where like quality & customer service.
  22. I have had one for over 2 years and used it at -25c and it is amazing!!! It won't freeze & is as fast as is vexliar. Absolutley the best ice fishing investment I have ever made. I originaly bought the x67c then added the ice duscer later ... I should have bought the ice machine pkg up front....
  23. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm..... is there a name for the ice hut version of the "mile high club"? T:-)
  24. Nice pix! We saw y'all take that picture as we left. Sure was cold. We managed 18 hering a few mud-puppies and 2 small eyes amongst 6 guys. VERY SLOW....oh well. Sure had fun though. We where the 2nd from the farthest hut west. Cheers, Ted
  25. Lew I ordered mine from PSI mentioned earlier in the thread. Request US postal delivery NOT UPS or Fedex. I was happy with the deal & service. Ted
