  1. With the Patriot act the US Gov can freely access the MNR data in the US, identify hunters and flag them as gun owners for additional scrutiny when crossing the border. Then with NSA algorithms they machine scan our posts, tweets, txt msgs, etc... then correlate the multiple sources of info to profile us as we travel to and around the US. Privacy does matter for honest citizens when overzealous police agencies take notice of you for any unassuming reason. Think of no-fly lists, where you cannot find out why you or someone with your same name gets listed and there is no way to get your name off.
  2. Speaking from experience and for the sake of saving a few bucks do not compromise quality and risk having to redo the job in a couple of years. Marine grade cable: - has more impermeable & wear resistant insulation - has more strands per AWG for better protection against vibration fatigue and - may have better DC current capacity do to more strands per AWG - uses Tinned coating on each strand for corrosion resistance Even in fresh water the dissolved minerals in our water will corrode wire and creep up from the connections. Make sure you seal connections with liquid tape and shrink wrap. For high current use crimp or clamp connections, as high current can melt a solder only connection. If possible go one size larger to 4 AWG to reduce voltage drop @ the trolling motor. Do it right, do it once. Ted
  3. No ice in Brampton, Acton would would be same
  4. I have had several. works great. Igniters can be flaky though.
  5. Sunflower heater available at Gagnon's MH15C I have the one with the 2 way stand and use a hose & 11lbs pancake propane tank. Love it!
  6. Sucked in?? See this: http://www.factsoffishing.com/blog/news/no-alabama-rigs-at-the-bassmaster-classic/
  7. Just banned from Bass Masters: http://thealabamarig.com/
  8. Absolute total junk. I have one. well cared for - premium gas, sea foam stabilizer, fresh plugs. Failed to start when I needed it last winter.'Took it to Hyundai repair centre, they finally got it started. Crappy carb system, very difficult to start. Later starter rope broke. I lost WalMart receipt so no warranty coverage. I had to mod air breather with tube to spray ether into carbs to start. Honda & Yamaha aren't cheap but definitely worth the premium when you need power.
  9. Thought you all would like to hear a good news story. I ordered a new Mr Heater MH15C from Gagnons website Tuesday night. Wed I get a call because the shipping charge didn't get added in. No problem they will cover it. It showed up at my door via Canada post Thursday morning. Fast & Courteous Service, Kudos to Gagnons! Ted
  10. Don't you mean wire 2 batteries in parallel which would give you 12 volts & double the amp/hour, that would increase run time but not thrust. 2 in series would give you same amp/hours but double the voltage to 24volts, but destroy a 12volt trolling motor. Regardless it is better to upgrade to 24v trolling motor versus trying to modify an existing 12v if you want more thrust. If you can swing it, a 24v x 80lbs MinKota Terrova with iPilot will really make fishing easier and more enjoyable. I love mine. Cheers, Ted
  11. DO NOT use any gas w ethanol. Water absorption and phase separation are hard on 2 strokes, caused by ethanol in gas. Shell premium, Sea foam additive and a good 2 stroke oil 50:1 minimum and premium like Shell V-power is very cheap insurance to keep auger in peak shape consider sporadic usage typical of most augers.
  12. it's a bit far, but I do the drive from Brampton every weekend - Red Eagle on Wollaston lake (Coe Hill, 20m S of Bancroft). 10 years there and I still think the place is amazing!
  13. I have stayed at Golden Beach Resort a few times and would recommend it. Nice place. Good lake access....
  14. I am the odd one out but my 09 Honda Ridgline (VP) has been unbelievable. I pull 2 sleds in Winter and a 18' fiberglass boat in summer. And yet drive it downtown TO every day... Paid less than 30 Not one issue w 75,000KM
  15. I went from a PD55 to a Terrova 80 w iPilot Biggest benefit was far more fishing on windy days. I have found there are many more very windy days the last couple of years and the Terrova 80 w iPilot has been incredible. I can fish and hold on spots that where impossible before.
  16. I've had a full season and have no idea how I ever got by without. Worth every penny!
  17. I've been looking for a new Yamaha Grizzley 550 EPS, The Canadian website is $2,400 more than US (after promos). I want to buy from a Canadian dealer but I refused to be screwed with paying @ 30% premium. Even with duty and tax it should be no more than a 10% premium. We are being gouged. Considering this is discretionary income/spend you would think they would be a little more concerned.... I think I'll just keep my money....
  18. Check Cisco Canada website - we've been hiring lately. Also PM headhunter to see what he may know of.
  19. their foot pedals never worked...go co-pilot remote. Better yet go with Terrova & iPilot - the best investment I ever made for my boat.
  20. My top technique is dead sticking a texas rigged 6" Senko (Black w Blue fleck Colour #21) just outside a weedbed on deep water side. I am looking for other ideas as I am in "Gummers Fishing Derby" on Wollaston Lake this weekend. Many Thanks, Ted
  21. There is a public (free) launch at N end of lake (end of Jack's Lake Road) but watch the sand as you launch - very expensive to be pulled out. (from a friend of mine on Jack's)
  22. Now that's funny!!! You made me spit beer foam out of my nose!
  23. Wow! This is OFC at it's finest! Many thanks for all the great input. Y'all have given me some great ides. Cheers Ted
