  1. Chainsaw!!!
  2. Let's just say that my GF asked me to leave it in my will it to her so she can open a fully stocked tackle shop...lol!
  3. My son & I howled when we stopped by the Triumph boat display and saw this: http://www.triumphboats.com/modelvideos.cf...&videoid=29 Bubba Proof Test Actually looks pretty decent.... Ted
  4. A while back I had requested stocking lists for lakes in the Bancroft area. I got a nice personalized & comprehensive package in the mail with all the lakes they had stocked over the past several years. They exceeded my expectations. Great folks! Ted
  5. for multi conductor transducers I have spliced in a 5 or 7 pin DIN audio connector (male-feamle)as a quick disconnect- it works very well for my trolling motor transducer.
  6. Follow good soldering practices as above. Heatshrink each indivdidual conductor- besides the good insulation value it will also reduce capacitance between conductors which can impact accuracy (as inductance can too). Once each conductor is insulated join braid (ground) and wrap all with tinfoil (ensure braid makes good electrical contact with foil. use large piece of heat shrink to cover all. I sometimes coat w liquid tape prior to heat shrinking.
  7. I fished on Wollaston - just up the road from there and was 6-8" so Jacks should be in fine shape now. Check regs as there is some weird geographic restrictions- 1/2 of the lake is designated as a Sanctuary.
  8. All great tips! I have tried riggers on my lake (Wollaston) many times to no avail. I think the wire hum spooks them. Jigging & inline planner boards seem to work. The "experienced" folks still hold to wire line. I like the back trolling idea....I will try next year...
  9. If the wind blows perpendicular (across top of pipe) it will create a venturi effect that will cause low pressure in the vent pipe and it will draw water upwards! This is the same effect as in a paint spray gun or carburetor. Also ingesting extreme quantities of alcohol can create the same visual effect too!
  10. Very disappointed in BPS...I wanted the Clam @ 189... all gone and all I got was attitude from staff. Definitely not the same experience as the US. BTW: Their March Spring Fishing Spectacular is the better deal. I think I'll spend my money with a local business that appreciates it.... Ted
  11. Works great. Portable- heats & cooks. By a refillable 2-5lbs propane tank & adapter hose ...the 1lbs cans are useless...
  12. Ok it looks like there is enough interest in this. Let's nail down some logistics. In addition to the date where should we go? We will need parking and reasonable access to good fishing grounds...suggestions? Cheers Ted
  13. I'm in. I'll bring Sled & portable hut & small BBQ. Cheers Ted
  14. Thanks all for the great feedback! Much appreciated! I'm in for BoQ G2G...great idea. Cheers Ted
  15. Quinte is such a larch body of water. Any suggestions where to try ice fishing there? I am thinking of taking my sled & portable hut so Ic an get to most places? What is the best way to ice-fish walleye there? Many Thanks, Ted
  16. It must be "fish" envy. OFC ROCKS! I value it's members and their unabashed opinions. Cheers Ted
  17. To those who think that not buying imports is the answer, I would suggest that kind of thinking (protectionism) was a major contributor to extending the length & depth of the great depression. Canada exports more than it imports, for now. By being protectionist goods become more expensive for us to buy due to reduced choice & competition. Then countries that buy our products will stop in retaliation. Everyone looses... We need to become personally accountable for the value the free market will pay for our products & services. Each of us need to develop skills & intellectual property that are not easily off-shored and that other countries will want & pay for. Relying on unions & big manufacturing to sustain our standard of living is no longer sustainable and doomed to fail regardless of bailouts. We are a fortunate to have one of the brightest & healthiest populations in the world. We are resource rich. Let's start creating value that is worthy of being Canadian.
  18. I have the Garmin 4 legged bean bag version for when I travel & rent a car. It works great!
  19. Fun? Yep!!! Just remember to hide the spark plug on the auger at night...
  20. Same great service for me...amazing!!! Ted
  21. If their business is worthy of investment then let them earn it in our open market. Make a product that people want to buy at a fair price. The big 3 and the unions screwed us as consumers and when we take our business else where they screw us as taxpayers. A bailout regardless of concessions can never succeed when they are broken beyond repair. This has got to stop.
  22. That was fun!
