There is also a product called "The Spin Doctor" by Gardner Tackle. I ordered a few online as I've never seen them in tackle shops. Anyhoo, it's a lead weight which you cast out and it spins the other way as you reel it back in and it untwists your line. Very useful in a tackle box.

Nice fish Landry and you managed a few on your flygear, eh. Well done. Must have been a blast.

What I wanna know is why if your from Holland are you called Dutch from the Netherlands. Pick one!!! lol

The closed season has really helped the Cisco. I remember the schools and schools under our ice huts in the early '80s. Lots and lots of fish then bam!.. nothing for decades. Seeing 'em again under the ice is very cool and it probably won't be long before there is a season for them again.

What a beauty catch there Steve. Well done. I love the release pic.

Living in Central Hamilton, I would love to hear sounds like your tree frog Gerritt. Or course, I don't work 12s so easy for me to say.
-
I like 'em because I find their mutated scale pattern is like artwork. Also, they're not as common as the appropriately named 'Common' carp so it will be a nice surprise when( if )I catch one.

Great story! Nice job getting 'er in. You'll remember this day for a long time, I'll bet.

I'm jealous! I'm still trying for my first Mirror! What a weekend and what a nice bunch of carp. I love the long, lean Commons in the pics. Great specimens. Way to go everyone!

Wow, I never even knew about TOWARF. That's a terrific sevice that's being provided. -
Wow, just look at how they're stacked on top of each other. Just amazing. Hey Limey, mind if I ask what do you guys do with them? I always thought harvesting Sucker out of northern waters would be good as eating any fish. Thanks for the post!

I too am doing this. Using weed n feed in spring and overseeding every so often. I've already noticed a difference this year as the usual weeds, indlucing dandylions, seem to be getting crowed out. But then again, I'll bet my lawn is way smaller than yours Lew.

I have trouble catching pike on the Grand period! I can dial in the bass once the season opens but I've usually been disappointed anytime I've tried to fish exclusively for pike. Goodluck Shasta.

I'm wondering how he even gets it loaded up there.

Looks like paradise! When I've gone down to Florida, I've pretty much always gone on the gulf side( just a bit north of you in the Venice and Sarisota area ). I did make a few trips down your way and can certainly vouche for the unspoiled beauty of the area and the islands. Thanks for the report and pics! You guys caught some beauts!

Toronto Pike Day with Taro Murata of Fish City Tours
Mike Pike replied to saspirilli's topic in General Discussion
I think it's great that someone is offering a guide service in the heart of the city. So convenient when you only have a few hours but still want to get on a boat and get into some good fishing. Glad you enjoyed your day. -
I don't get what 'trapped below the dam' means. Were they in the stream below the dam??? So how were they 'pushed out by the ice?'
-
Yup, totally a sucker. I see it now. What had me confused was that I didn't see the tale partially submerged so it looked like a bowfin body. See it? Anyhoo, it's time for new glasses. lol
-
That's a dang good day of fishin Bowslayer. Thanks for posting your pics. Hey, I'm confused by that one fish that looks like a bowfin( dogfish )but has the mouth of a sucker. Do you know what that is?

Finally, some hard evidence!

A lot of places that have carp gear have pre-tied rigs now Cliff. Fishing World here in Hamilton carries them but unfortunately I'm not sure about the places out your way. I tend to order a lot of my stuff on-line from Carpkit.ca They carry absolutely everything you want for carp fishing and the service is excellent.
-
Hey Art, I recall reading a report where there was an effort to start marketing them as "Kentucky Tuna." Seriously!
-
I beleive that these carp are filter feeders and as such absorble less toxins in their bodies than other fish in the great lakes. Food banks to restaurants to your own kitchen, they'd probably be good eating anywhere.

That's it! I'm done with 'em. Tired of cheering for a loser! I'm gonna start following the Jays now...

Happy Birthday Beans! Too bad you can't go out and chase some carp on your b-day, but soon enough. Cheers!
