I am gonna try and get into fly fishing, I bought a phlueger reel and would like some suggestions for line to use. it is a 5/6 weight rod I am using. I am using it for small trout mostly. Thanks for any help!

Brodeur will play...they will want him to add to most wins in a season in NHL history!
-
You too!
-
because its private you can fish all year there...as long as there is no ice.....once the ice forms fishing is closed....the insurance costs are way to high to have it open when there is ice there.
-
well the most productive thing is minnow under a float about 6-8 feet under it and let it sit, and you can try even on bottom, with the weight on bottom and hook up line about 1-2 feet...may sound plain but the smack the heck out of it. Later on around say june/July you can try little spinners, and spinners even work for the smallmouth in there too. Your best bet would be to just pic a place to try and move around cause they are all over the quarry, there is something like over 50,000 trout in there I think.

Stoney is hard to fish walleye. Back when I use to fish stoney we would look for cliff rocks on the shore, they usually have a complete drop off and would just use minnows. But i am sure mr. twisters would work great. I would say look for sholes with drop offs of them in the 20 foot range and maybe some weeds around them.....weeds are not hard to find on stoney thats for sure....and tons and tons of rocks.

Sherkston shores is in between Port Colbourne and Fort Erie. It is an old quarry that they hit the water line on and it filled many many years ago. And now the stock it with Rainbows, browns and speckles. And if you lucky enough there are some big bass in there, caught a 3 pounder yesturday and last summer I got a couple 4 pounders. It costs $6 to get in and you are only allowed to keep 2 fish. The $6 entry fee goes back to help stock it every year or put minnows in for the trout.
-
yep lots of little ones in there.....and some very large ones, some over 10 pounds...but don't think they can beat the smaller ones to the bait...LOL
-
Went to sherkston for some trout...was there about 2.5 hours and managed to land about 25 and lost a few more....here are a few pics of the fish! I am super glad to see the trout lasted the winter and were hungry and feisty as heck! I think its worth the $6 to get in, I have never taken a fish home. I just love to catch them!

I fished a bass tourny last year here in Niagara and the guy I got paired up with had a Fenwick and he let me use it. I found the rod to be awsome....not sure what model but I picked up alot of hits. I bet I caught close to 50 bass that day. So I would say congrats...LOL

I think there is a bait shop in Dunnville...might be called fishmaster bait and tackle....
-
Thats a crazy price.....the reel to me looks like a cheap reel...LOOKS I said. One day I will be able to afford something so nice, but for me not worth it cause were I fish I slip and fall and bang on rocks. That money needs to go to therapy...LOL
-
Well they look nice to me Bill....I am interested in taking up fly fishing this year....we have sherkston quarry down here that is stocked with rainbows, browns and brookies. It is perfect place for learning to fly fish. If I send you some money would you make me some fly's to try out flyfishing there! Now do most flies float on the top of the water as that would be mostly what I am looking for as the trout in the quarry stay close to the top in the summer.

Well they did play again....and once again dominated the best team in the league...LOL I too was at the game last night and yes it was a dissapointing 8 minutes but people seem to forget about the rest of the game when they dominated. That by far was not a crushing as what some people are calling it...they lost 5-4...I think they played awsome except for like 8 minutes.....some people make me sick when they turn on the leafs cause of stuff like this....lots of teams have done it this year including Buffalo...losing in the third period.....and so has Ottawa blown a few third period leads, its hockey...you never know what is gonna happen. Now tonight they completely dominated the BEST team in the league.....most other canadian teams can't say that. Now I totally support most Canadian teams and would like to see one win.....everyone keeps leaving out Vancouver...I think they have the best shot. A way better shot than Ottawa thats for sure!
-
Not sure about rainbows but have caught browns and lakers in the dark....well the laker was on a glow spoon so that don't count. I would think you would be able to float for them at night....try using some wrapped shrimp as bait for extra scent!
-
Well who says you have to fish a big stream for rainbows.....I myself go to a small creek and fish little specks with an ultra light and get over a hundred per person and lose tons more. Its fun to take someone who doesn't fish much or catch much! And there is barely anyone around!
-
Can't get on that board unless your a member....I was there today....fishing was slow...managed 1 fish in 3 hours. Shore ice is still very high, water is clear adn free of ice....but the fishing was extremely slow.....barely even any seagulls in the sky....means lack of baitfish!
-
I got hired.....but gas pumps don't pay enough so I quit!....LOL

Anyone here recently take this testing. I am looking to speak with someone that recently took the test, so that I can see what to expect from it. Thanks!

I like the fact he is taking responibility, but it disgusts me that no one else is stepping up to help him out, non of the other ADULT helpers. Guess it was all kids helping out. LOL -
glad you liked the resort...it's where we stayed in December...I never got the chance to get out fishing but congrats on all the fish!
-
Got mine in November so I wouldn't get stuck in the mad rush to get one!

Wow...that is brutal. What a waste....wish we had a say in where our tax dollars went besides stuff like this and high incomes for useless polititions! -
I wouldn't pre tie them cause sometimes the roe bag material can scrape and puncture the eggs when they freeze ro thaw out. As fishinfiend said...small bags for day trips and I would make sure they are freezer bags thou, and if your worried about freezer burn just double bag them.
