  1. In the spring if I don't go out on strike. 25 hp Johnson triple 2 stroke getting switched out for a 25 hp yammie or honda 4 stroke, depending on who gives me the better deal. No more oily exhaust for this cat.
  2. Heat is the enemy of li-ion batteries. Short charges are better than longer ones if the battery is significantly discharged. Once it is charged, disconnect from charger as soon as practical. Don't leave it on the charger for days or weeks. You aren't doing the battery or your hydro bill any favours.
  3. MediaMonkey is free as well, There are some features that are unlocked with the paid version, which I have. I think I paid $30 or 40 for a lifetime licence. I have upgraded at least three major versions since. The later versions are compatible with apple products to sync music just as iTunes does.
  4. X2 for Mediamonkey You can add notes to the tags and edit them if need be. Sort the songs seven ways to Sunday as well...
  5. I bought an '05 Honda Foreman 500ES last year. The 4x4 wasn't working and I did ok with it. I fixed the 4X4 and put new rubber on it. I can't wait to see how wel it does this year. When my father in law had it, he would plow snow into a ramp and keep adding snow to the top and push it off, getting higher and higher with every snow fall. He never seemed to run out of room to push snow that way. He was living in Timmins at the time and Timmins averages 8 feet of snow in a winter.
  6. Be careful what type of carabiners you use. MOST of them are crap. They are made wit aluminum and will not hold the weight of the trailer, if it comes unhitched. Go to an industrial supply store that carries rigging equipment and get some that are rated for whatever weight your trailer is. At work, we cannot use anything that is rated for less than 5000 pounds for fall arrest safety equipment. Standard rock-climbing carabiners are not permitted. They are not strong enough. On a related note, I see many people using farm grade hitch pins to secure their hitches in their receivers. I have seen these pins being sold for $8-10 at Princess Auto, when you can buy the proper receiver pins at Action Van and Truck for $4-5. I would hate to be the one that gets charged for something safety equipment related if there was an accident as a result of sub-standard chains/pins, etc.
  7. I lucked out when I built my shed last year. My local CTC store was closing one of their warehouses and was selling the shelving for a pretty good price. I got warehouse grade shelving for less than the cost of the cheap crap they sell for home use. Bottom line, DON'T buy the flimsy, consumer grade canning shelves, etc. that are made of thin guage sheet metal or even plastic resin. They won't last, They WILL collapse at some point and you will have to spend more money to replace with better quality shelving anyway. Spend the money now and save the aggravation later.
  8. The Dollarama plastic lures are. They don't run straight and many times, my nephew gets a hit from a decent sized pike and the hooks rip out of the body or even a few times, the lure just disintigrated into plastic shards and metal bits.
  9. I've got an '06 Envoy XL that I installed a set of Hercules Terra Trac AT II on. I've only had them six months, but they have better traction than the Goodyear Wranglers that were stock or the CTC Total Terrains I installed four years ago, Time will tell on durability. The Goodyears were replaced about eight months after I bought the truck used. I got four years out of the CTC tires. The Hercs were better in the snow and seem to be better in the muddy places I need to go so far. I don't do any extreme stunts with this vehicle as it is a daily driver and the only vehicle in my yard that can carry the whole family, but it does take me in the bush to hunt and fish as well as tow my travel trailer and boat.
  10. The biologists need to count the little fingers off the stomach to make a positive ID, so I don't think you can tell just by looking at it... Beauty fish either way.
  11. I`ve been to Halfway a few times over the years. Never fished there, but the skeeters were atrocious!!! Beach was dirty as well, the one time I went swimming.
  12. I work in the mining industry in a surface plant. My superintendant has made some serious safety errors in front of contractors. As a result, it is heresay. I would LOVE to catch him doing something like that. He is not good a managing people.
  13. I had two Grand Caravans. Towed my 16' aluminum every year. Boat/motor.trailer was in the 1000-1200 pounds range with all my gear. Tow it NOT in overdrive. Tranny cooler is a must. I also towed my ATV on a fairly heavy trailer with no problems either. IMHO, if your trailer setup requires brakes to be legal, it is too heavy to tow with a minivan.
  14. I have two drywall mud buckets (2 1/2 gallons) When I come in, the minnows go in the first one. I fill the second half full with tap water and let it sit. When I need to change the water, I just switch the minnows to the second bucket, dump the first one and refill with tap water and let that sit. Repeat as long as necessary. Sitting allows the chlorine in the water to evaporate without the need for tapwater conditioner. I do the same with my aquarium water changes. A few days before a water change, I fill a bucket with tap water and let it sit.
  15. I camp there quite often. I like the park. The only fishing I've done there so far is from my canoe. I've also only caught Smallmouth and one Whitefish. I was not successful with Lakers last spring, nor have I seen any Pike or Walleye. This year, I am bringing my boat for the May long weekend, so I should be able to explore more places.
  16. What does a Leafs fan do after his team wins the cup? Turns of his X-Box and goes to bed.
  17. I've used them with a quick strike rig as mentioned. I have also let them lay on the bottom. Seems to target larger pike either way. I've only used them ice fishing on a tip up. Not sure how well they would work in open water. Why not just pick some up at the local grcery store like I do? If you ask your outfitter, I'm sure they could make sure they were on hand when you get there.
  18. I've got a bag of two dozen sitting in the fridge right now waiting for tomorrow morning. I guarantee they willl all be alive when i get to the lake...
  19. I had a Bell cell for one contract. Switched to Rogers, never looked back. I cancelled Bell landline and went to local cable carrier for phone, internet and TV. Local has sometimes spotty service/ cust. service, but on the whole better than Bell. My sister, who has NEVER been a Bell customer, went straight to the same carrier as I have now, as soon as she left the nest, keeps getting calls from Bell to RETURN to Bell. Hello! Never been with them, check your records...
  20. I stand corrected, from the HTA on elaws.gov.on.ca: Trailer or semi-trailer (5) Every trailer or semi-trailer having a gross weight of 1,360 kilograms or more shall be equipped with brakes adequate to stop and to hold the vehicle. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 64 (5).
  21. I just replaced the original 2500# axles on my travel trailer today with a pair of 3500's. Same 5 bolt pattern. You should have some form if axle identification stating the load capacity of the axle. Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the HTA state that any trailer rated over 1500 pounds has to have brakes?
  22. I had this bad boy in my yard last Friday, May 11. https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/101695547843534466751/albums/5741459400145165425?authkey=CKT91uKmquj5oAE
  23. Spend a few more dollars and get this trap, CTC 59-1924-8. It has a larger trigger pan, and more likely to trap it. Use peanut butter as advised and place it along the walls do that the pan is facing the wall. That way when they run along the wall as they are wont to do, they will trigger the trap, even if they weren't after the bait. I use this trap all the time and they can be set to be rather sensitive. I very rarely have an escapee. Sometimes though, they are not killed immediately and can/will drag the trap into a hidey hole while they expire. You will find out in a few days that they have expired by the smell. I usually attach the trap with a piece of wire to a heavy object if possible. Even a 12" stick tied in the middle to the wire would work. Good luck.
  24. My sister sent me this picture today of a bird wing. She wanted help to ID it, but I couldn't be much assistance. The mottled colouring reminds me of a woodcock, but the size is too large. One of my books suggests maybe a ptarmigan in summer plumage, but I don't think they are around the Sudbury area. Any suggestions?
  25. I have an 870 Express that I bought new in 1987. The sequence goes like this: pump the action, pull trigger, bang, repeat until out of ammo. I have a 3 inch chamber on mine and I would say that unless you are doing some serious goose hunting or maybe turkeys (never hunted turkeys, so I don't know the necessity for 3.5"), you don't need the 3.5" chamber. I have been doing well for geese the last two seasons with 3" steel shot which doesn't beat my shoulder like a 3.5" would. I would also suggest that unless you need to shoot 3.5" frequently, if you need a little more extra killing power, switch over to a 3" shell shooting something like bismuth or heavy-shot (non-steel, denser than lead alternatives). I have heard and seen reports with some of the 3.5" shotguns being less than reliable with the longer shells. If a feed/ejection malfunction costs you game in the bag, then the extra expense of the heavier than steel shells start to become less expensive. I have fired tens of thousands of rounds through my 870, both 2 3/4 and 3", and the only malfunctions I have had were related to reloads. I had a few feed issues last season with factory loads, but I gave it a good cleaning under the shell latches in the receiver. Problem solved. I have had a few semis over the years, but I keep going back to the pump for reliability.
