Thanks everyone! I found the Wayne pump company online today and called them, but they did not have a canadian distributor. I was looking at their ESP15 and ESP25 models that are just 12 volts. I called a bunch of places including wholesalers and found they all carried a different line. Tonight I went to the newly opened Lowes store and found a unit called "Ace in the Hole" that is 12 volt, includes a battery box, charger, check valve, & alarm signal to let you know it is running if the main pump fails. This was $244.00. The same A5000 model sold for $400.00 at the suppliers. It is made by Simer pumps. I still have to pick up a Group 27 deep cycle battery and install the whole thing. The system that uses water pressure is no good to me, as we are on a deep well. Thing is, my sump pit did not have a pump in it. There was always a water level in the pit, but it never rose or fell. I'm wondering if this is the natural water table level, and it rose on tuesday after the big meltdown? We had 2 1/2 feet of snow with drifts to 3 - 4 feet that dissappeared in two days! The river behind my house was up to the very edge of the bank and raging like a wild beast! It has dropped a bit tonight and we feel a little better. The water had flooded out more than 50 feet on the far side and rose about 5 feet on my side. Scarey stuff! Now I have a little idea how they feel living in New Orleans. It sure is nice to have water all around you (I have it on three sides), but when it rises out of control it aint no fun!

Thanks for sharing that with us Hookset! I enjoyed your memories and it was a great read.

Does anyone have any experience with 12 volt back-up sump pumps? I have seen the Flotec brand at HD and CTC, but I'm wondering what you all use and if there isn't something better out there. I am looking for a system with battery charger, alarm, automatic float, etc. Thanks

Hoping for a speedy recovery for all three of them! Glad to hear they are alive and on their way to mending. The seat belt thing is a big one. My Oldest Daughter was involved in a serious wreck this past spring. We received the call that a mini van had tried to pass her on highway 10 on the soft shoulder doing over 100km per hour! The van rolled several times and threw three girls from the back seat out onto the road. The male driver and passenger were wearing seat belts, but the girls were not. To my knowledge one of the girls and the driver have not come out of a comma to this day. My daughter was thankfully not injured and was only very shook up from what she saw. I know how it feels to go to the scene and see 4 air ambulances circling over head and not being able to reach our children. Very sad. Godspeed in their recovery. -
Nice fish! I agree with Rizzo, they do look like Peacock Bass!

Fantastic perch! WTG. It does look bigger than most Walleyes I ever catch! Congrats on the PB and also on the wisdom to release.

I still have my first "Supercycle"! LOL I believe it is now 35 years old. Blue 10 speed. Out in the back shed, but I still got her!

Kirk, I believe this was an "alledged" attempt at lawyer humour. Sorry man, I 'm not laughing. The scene depicted in the poem is one of my biggest fears.

Very Nice Tony! Is this being built from a set of ready made plans, or is it something you did up yourself? It looks like the work (framing) is being done by yourself? If so, would you mind sharing a price per foot for a project like this? I am interested in something similar. thanks

hmmm....chip off the OLD block, Pike, Walleye, Perch, New Years,...I think I know where they are fishing! LOL

Yeah John, I was just going to suggest that a gell cell rechargeable 12 volt battery would be a lot better than the two 6 volt lantern batteries wired in series. 7 Ah should fit. I would have the two lantern batteries only for nostalgic reasons and probably keep the unit as a display item only as Wayne suggested. I love old pieces of our fishing history!

Welcome, and call them yellow fish anything you like! We get the drift! LOL

Sherriff, That is a tough call when the unit is only 5 years old. In my opinion, if it is a problem with the sealed hermetic system (such as compressor failure or refrigerant leak), then they are not worth repairing. On the other hand, if it is only a control problem, then it is definitely worth getting it repaired. Can you do any further investigation and get back to me? The fan still running inside indicates that the unit is not stuck in defrost mode. It could be the temperature control (thermostat), a burned wire at the compressor, a faulty overload snap disk, compressor relay problem, etc. These are all cheap to repair. Did you experience any power bleaps? The unit may have short cycled and is now cycling on the overload. You did mention a noise earlier. This may indicate compressor issues. Pretty hard to diagnose from behind a keyboard! LOL At that age, the unit is still pretty energy efficient. The old ones are pigs on power and should be replaced.

Very nice Garry! I tow mine with a cover on and the biggest problem I have is keeping everything tight. The wind on the highway really takes a toll on the material if it starts to flap around. Maybe check into some extra straps for the long drive home. I never got around to getting the summer cover off and the winter shelter on it. The last big snowfall did a little damage and I will get it in this spring for some repairs. I think I will get an alteration done to cover the trolling motor as well. I currently remove my Minn Kota Maxxum 65# with a slide on bracket. I'm getting too old to be lugging that thing on and off all the time!

Gotta be in Bama! LOL

Nice report Glen! Do those Spotted Bass grow very big? I've noticed in most of your reports that they are fairly small. Is that about as big as they get? I would think they could get as big as a Largemouth, but maybe not. Nice Crappie though!

I'm off till January 7th with the exception of January 4th, when I have to show up for the day just in case anyone calls. It's the first time I have had this much time off in over 20 years. I'm enjoying it too!
