  1. I wonder if that motor has been underwater. I have a 1970s Chrysler and when I take the cowling off it is clean as a whistle. There should not be those water stains and that mch rust under there for a 1987 ish motor.
  2. Was trying to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. My kids (at school) don't get away with anything. My kids (at home) do. lol
  3. I have the exact same 12' aluminum boat. Thorne circa 1960. I got it for free too and sometimes I feel I got ripped off.
  4. 20 hp might not be enough. 16' steel is pretty heavy. On a side note, I might buy it just to get that camo painted blue cooler
  5. I agree with Wayne. I bet he just got new planer boards and is testing how they are running. He might have only had them out there for a couple of minutes to see how they ran and I bet there was no lures on a couple of them.
  6. It is true. That is not Snag. The guy holding the fish is Jeremy Piven. He was in Toronto this week and he always hits up the harbour for a chance at some city pike. It is in his autobiography. He states "Whenever I visit Toronto Canada I bring my fishing rod. You can actually catch trophy pike right in the city."
  7. 3rd week is better fishing. lol
  8. Nice. That is a great result. that was borderline epic.
  9. The one that got away.. I was living in Australia back in 1995 and was travelling up the gold coast. Decided to camp in a town called Noosa. Beautiful place so i decided to stay a few more days. At the campground I met a guy who had a boat and asked me if I would go fishing with him. Of course I went with my trusty 7' spinning rod and reel, loaded with 12 pound test. We were fishing in about 80 ft of water using dead 5" pilchards and catching everything from small sharks to eels and a bunch of other fish I had never seen before. It was great. After fishing for about an hour I feel another bite. immediately I set the hook and fell what I thought was another 2-4 pound fish. It wasn't fighting very hard and I wasn't even sure if it was still on. I start looking down into the water to see if I could see the fish coming up when all of a sudden the water erupted about 5ft away from the boat. Talk about scary! I had hooked a marlin 80ft below the surface and as soon as he realized he had been hooked he headed for the surface. Now this next part happened really fast so it is all a bit sketchy. The fish jumped straight out of the water about 10-15 ft in the air. I estimate (remember this happened in a blurr) the fish to be about 8-10ft long. From the time the fish made its first jump to the time it stripped all 250 yrds of 12 pound test line off my reel, the fish stayed out of the water on the surface, tailwalking and slapping its body against the water surface. The fish managed to spool me in about 10 seconds and the drag on my reel never worked properly after that. Incredible size and power. What a thrill to hook into something like that. I would love to actually catch a fish of that size someday but not on a 7' medium action rod and not with 12 pound test. Wish I had a camera handy. It just happened way too fast though
  10. Those are vey nice looking fish indeed. Thanks for sharing.
  11. those birds perch on this light above the barrie city boat launch and poo all over people, their boats, and their cars as they are putting in or taking out their boats. Sometimes when I am at the beach I take my kids to the boat launch so we can watch the poopfest. It is quite funny. I don't like them either.
  12. depends on what you are building. If it is something like this I can help.
  13. I am going to agree with this statement. Only reason for this agreement is the fact that Solo gets it done like nobody I have ever seen before. Much respect.
  14. Hey, Isn't this a Mariko Izumi thread. Stop trying to hyjack it. lol. Just kidding. Here is what I think. CTC in Barrie has always been quite good. I used to work exclusively in the fishing dept when it was in the old location in Bayfield mall. We always stocked good stuff. I have been to some Canadian tires in other cities and they had barely any fishing supplies. I was surprised as I assumed all the stores would be the same. Now here is what I have noticed recently. The price of their lures and equipment has gone up consideralbly this year. You can't seem to buy a rapala for under a $10. Wal-mart prices have gone up as well. Big O in walmart and CTC is $8. Still $4.99 at BPS. Claking rap at CTC and Walmart is almost $11. wow! $11 for a lipless crank. I bought one on sale for $7 but even that is too much. i have a few sebile lipless cranks that cost me $10 each (an haven't caught me anything yet). Seems like every lure at CTC has gone up by at least $1 this year. not cool.
  15. little lake Barrie is still frozen but there is open water neer creek entrance at both ends. would not risk it. looks pretty thin on the edge.
  16. Nice truck. I didn't realize the ram boxes were extra. Since they advertise them so much I assumed they were standard on all models. wow. Still nice. Although the 20 look nicer I think your wheels are much more practical. My buddy has the 20s on his ram and he has to replace all 4 tires this month (almost $2000 for rubber alone). Is that the regular size of the 4 door cab or is there a bigger one?
  17. I used to regularly put 4 or 5 split shot in my mouth and suck on them for hours. True story. Explains alot actually.
  18. I will pretend you didn't say that. not to be a jerk Henry but Mariko Izumi you're so hot would be even better. I am her facebook friend (I am such a loser)
  19. Nice fish. I am pretty sure the first one is a freshwater drum.
  20. Those spawners have some really pretty colours. Wow. Looks great.
