  1. I received a box full of bass flipp,n jigs from a member here a while back. The thought was to tie jigs for deep water lakers or pikeral. Just cut off the weed guard . This was not why I excepted them. I wanted to tie flipp,n jigs. The biggest obstacle was tying around that guard. Pain in the a$$ . So get to thinking on how to keep it out of the way . Came up with , a small nail and paper clip solution . Just push the guard towards and over the eye, insert nail through the eye loop and attach the paper clip . Worked great . To get the guard back to it,s proper shape and location, I just clipped the guard to the hook and let it sit for 5 minutes and the jig was back to normal. Knowing they would take a beat,n, lots of super glue and hard as nails was used on the wraps and securing the half hitch knots . Cut some body parts from thin foam. Ya,rubber would of been better, but do not have any. LOL Anyhoo These are what I came up with. They should work . As I was rummaging through my boxes, I found my popper heads. So tied a couple up .
  2. YA THINK
  3. Sweet. Glad you got what you needed. Sent ya a pm.
  4. Seems to me another stretch of taking money out of your pockets. I was told the same thing when I bought my 87 Ranger. I didn't get one. Got full insurance coverage from another company. State Farm

  7. Thanks Bill for the reply Guess I got to make a few for Terry now. LOL PayPal or direct cash in hand WITH COVID proof gloves, woks for me. LMAO 🤣
  8. I have watched sunfish pick a worm right off a hook with out even being close to the hook point. YUP The ones with the sticky points on the shank..
  9. Elaborate Bill please,,,,,,,, You mean tie a treble up for the spoon, or for a trailer behind it ? The spoon would act as a mini dodger ? I can visually see that working . EDIT Making a trailer in a shiner/herring pattern would work I am sure . Food for thought. Will have to keep my eye open for those old William spoons. The large ones.
  10. That is what I was thinking when I made the 1st 3 . I even told him they were coho baits. Thanks Dave
  11. Thats what I did. That,s why I got stuck so many times. LOL
  12. I had a response to a thread I did a while back when I made my clousers . Buddy said I should tie some on a siwash hooks for behind dodgers for salmon trolling. So i did and wait to hear back how they work. The green and black one has a trailer hook. It stuck me like 6 X tying the front hook.😂 Hooks I used are super sharp and strong The trailer one. I call it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I BITE BACK
  13. Well I went right to the #16 this morning . I have to say,it was fun . I have a mag lite,so it is very easy to tie once you have the basics down . Also they are time consuming, but it,s not like I am whipping up a wolley bugger.LOL Using thinner thread diameter is another learning curve for me. Cannot be hauling on that thread . Also making wings that small is gratifying to me. Now to go and give them a go . Might be a couple of days as we have rain now . I looked for a pencil with a eraser on it Gil, so it would show the true size. Not a one in the house. LOL
  14. Sweet ride. You come to me ,and I will set ya up. I LOVE,spending other peoples money. LMAO Really Sweet ride.
  15. They finally released the movie The Banker I have been waiting to watch this. 2 X
  16. The store has come through again for me. I just wished they had other colors. This bulk bag of some black fiber I found for only $4 bucks . I am not sure if it is synthetic or not, but it will make great streamer and dubbing material. Will be tying it up Tuesday on some jig heads. Oh I also found my new stream trout net. $4 too, and will do the job. I can take the Ninja Turtle piece off, but that just would not be right. LOL Hey,look at that cool guy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  17. Try a metal fabrication place. I know of a place in Barrie, Pratt Sheet Metal, that sells spiral S/S pipe. I am sure there are others that sell the same.
  18. I have tied a few with the post. My firsts. I would post, but they are in the truck. That post is a great visual for me as well. I split the thickness, but I think my next ones will have the full chunk. Also need to use thinner hackle for sure . Picking up some small hooks this morning. Rain day Tuesday,so lots of tying to do . When they are taking bugs like they were yesterday Dave, I just stuck with the dry . I am taking baby steps, but my next outing I will have a drop with a small wet. One outing at a time .
  19. Lakers are eating perch from what I have seen and heard . I have a buddy that down rigs with a large perch body bait. Yup,he gets them. ALL released for your info . As for herring reports, many do not like them,BUT,I do.
  20. Went away from Power pro and now, Nanofil . It is just like you said, as smooth as cotton thread. I am even going as far as to spool one of my float reels with it for this up coming steelhead season. Seems many have gone to this .Well til the freeze up,then it,s off and back to mono .
  21. Thanks I have to start some where and I know I will get better and be able to go smaller. I need to get some dry fly powder as well. Any recommendations ? I know Loon has a product. Thought maybe there was a generic source out there .
  22. Most are 14 John. I have been watching lots of you tube while I have been off. I can tie smaller no dought, but this seems to be a common size. Maybe my material needs to be less.
  23. When I arrived at 5 am,the fly hatch was amazing. I could see all these small fish hitting the flys on the surface. I even seen a few bigger fish, but could only manage about a 7 ,in this size range. All on my morning dun flys. Only took a pic of this one just to prove my own tie works . So many times I had a fish take and miss the fly right on landing in the water . That is crazy active feeding . Was a fun morning forsure, even if they were small. There was a mix of flys. Large white ones and small. Came upon a dead resident. Not sure how it got dragged up to the bank. That would of been a fun one to catch. It would seem it is also turtle egg laying time. Came upon this big lady. And this one crossing the road path. I have seen a few real big brutes in the water system. Just a short vid. Funny thing, they were really active til I clicked to make a vid.LOL If you watch close, you will see a decent fish move in the riffle.
  24. I guess it depends in the area you are fishing . I can tell you truthly,KBAY is loaded with them. Any where from 12" down to 6". I and a few buds can tell you this as we have seen clouds of them under the ice. Also out from BBP this year during the midge hatch, they were jumping all over the place. Seen them come right out of the water right in front of me . Yes,I have not caught any in that 1-2 lb range in probly 4-5 years . One morning Terry and I hit a pod that was in this class range. We were probly 50 ft from each other . That s how many there were . As for the lakers . I have seen them cruise the Barrie marina in the late fall chasing the shiners, and also around the fountain spit here . I have heard so good catch days this year, but they have been in different areas then previous . Still though, nothing has been in the 4-6 lb range. All big .
