  2. Very well done to the both of you. I love the picture of the Airedale Terrier. I grew up with one for 12 years. The dumbest dog I ever knew but a true heart of gold. Congrats on the GIANT musky. Good luck next year on that 50"er
  3. Congrats on the new ride. Not a bad day for the maiden voyage.
  4. I hear ya. If you think the classifieds are bad dont go anywhere near Kijiji.
  5. Spring pike and trout has been amazing for me this year.Bass fishing has been fun with great numbers of fish averaging 20 fish per day. A few good fish over 4 # to be had but not the size that I had last year. Still lots of time for the fall giants. I fished 5 new lakes this year which is always fun , challenging and exciting. I will post a year end re-cap when the open water season comes to an end. Hope everybody has a great fall.
  6. Im looking forward to the fall feedbag but not looking forward to winter.I wish that fall lasted longer.
  7. Wow ! Nice fish there. And you want to get into steelhead fishing ?
  8. Thats pretty amazing stuff. You must have worked for a long time to perfect that talent. I like the tree and the background. Keep up the great work !
  9. All good points Jay. My father recently bought a net that has a built in scale that I am looking forward to using.I personally dont like using nets because of the tangling issues. In recent years I have weighed so many fish ( I got a little scale happy )Now I can usually do a pretty good job estimating weight. To me length means nothing. A 40" pike can weigh 14 pounds or 20. I do agree with being prepered. Another tip for musky and pike fishing is to tie off the pliers and the spreaders so that they dont end up in the bottom of the lake. I learned this the hard way. Good thread guys
  10. After 10 years of steady use I finaly cleaned my reel. First thing I did was strip all the line and backing off the reel. Next thing was taking the reel apart. be carefull that you use the proper size screw drivers and dont force anything causing you to strip the screws. Next is taking the bearings out and soak them in some type of oil. (Sewing machine oil as metioned )While your bearings are soaking in oil soak your reel parts in vinigar while adding baking soda and scrub with a scrub brush. Use a q-tip or old tooth brush to get all the hard to reach places.Wipe off with a clean towel and put your reel back together and you are good to go for another 10 years assuming you have not lost interest in trout fishing Here is a pic of my reel before it was cleaned. Good luck
  11. A p.m is in order when I decide to take my kids up there someday. A great read and looks like some quality family bonding time in the great outdoors.

  15. Im loving those largies. looks like your having a great season. Nice set ups you got going there. The rods, the riggers, the boat and the truck ! Great report and congrats on a succesfull season.
  16. At least your not the guy in your avatar picture........ Better luck next time !
  17. Sounds like a good combo then. I have 2 stradics and love them. Good luck with your choice.
  18. If you are going to spend $ 150 + on a reel why would you put it on a $40 rod ? I would suggest something a little higher end like some of the St. Croix rods. Or go with a higher end rod and a mid range spinning reel.
  19. You may already know this but you can adjust your reel to match the weight of the jig you are using. keep it a little tight at first until you are more comfortable before you set it on free spool. shorter pitches helps with accuracy and practice as much as you can.
  20. Its been a blast so far this season. To say that we put our time in is an understatement. The big bass have eluded us this year but I guess quantity is sometimes better than quality.... right ? Here are some pics from my camera. Enjoy the rest of the summer guys. Summer/Fall report to follow
  21. Dont you ever work ? Send me that pic !
