I would suggest that you go with a 9.9, especially in the currents. And it's not just the current, but also the wind that is a pain to deal with ... especially if you are following contours. I can barely turn the boat in high winds. Additional weight? Just go straight! Tiller? Remote? I choose to sit at the back with a handle extention rather than fighting the wheel. As mentioned earlier in th thread, a Control King would be nice. It's hard to dial in those 'ideal' rpm's from time to time which can make it frustrating. Manual/Electric start? If you can, go electric ... they have about a 6 amp alternator to work with. The system is effective if you have devices hooked up to the cranking battery (aerator, plotter, sterero, etc) or if you night fish with your lights/aux on, while the main is shut down. 2/4? Go with a 4 stroke, although about 30 pounds heavier for the 9.9 class. Tee into the main line with its own bulb, perhaps using a separator. Power trim? Nah! Would be nice though. Hope this helps. I have an 8hp. Wish I bought the 9.9

Was there today from 3 to 8. We were in the black Princecraft Xpedition at the launch. Lots of people at the lodge. Fished hard for 5 hours, covering a lot of territory. H2 had a big girl on for a short while, then the hooked popped. One follower to the boat. That was it for us. Talked to a few groups at the docks before putting the boat up and the same thing today all around. We were lucky enough to see a Bald Eagle fly over the boat. Haven't seen one around here for a few years. For those of you that are there for the week, good luck and get into some big'uns!

Wish all of the best for your dad, and a quick recovery. Good to know that he has a son that acts against his stubbornness, and that the incident occurred at the hospital. Moments like that are critical to get immediate attention. You can look back on how you stressed about the results of your shoulder injury. It isn't so bad compared to the things that are happening around you. All the best -
Definitely a lifesaver for everyone to know this. Very important. Thanks for sharing this Also, this how they define the functionality of this technique on their site vrs compression/breaths: Hands-OnlyTM CPR vs. Conventional CPR with breaths Are there times when I should use conventional CPR with breaths? Yes. There are many medical emergencies that cause a person to be unresponsive and to stop breathing normally. In those emergencies, CPR that includes mouth-to-mouth breathing may provide more benefit than Hands-OnlyTM CPR. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends conventional CPR (CPR with a combination of breaths and compressions) for: * All infants (up to age 1) * Children (up to age 8) * Adult victims who are found already unconscious and not breathing normally * Any victims of drowning, drug overdose or collapse due to breathing problems.

A good buddy of mine has a place on Little Cranberry. Unfortunately, there are no Muskie along that stretch. It's an awesome passage for getting out on the lake and touring around to the nearby lakes. Enjoy the boating!

Amazing! Definitely high on my bucket list, for sure. I would totally need a bottle of gravel for that. I get sick just being a passenger in a car. Hope the rest of the trip went well

You can canoe and kayak from the mainland to the islands. I have put in my kayak many times in the past and borrowed the docks at the canoe club (with their permission of course) and paddled to the islands. Before my first paddle, I called the marine unit on the pier and all they told me was to adhere to the safety standards ... kit, jacket, etc. Stay alert and aware of the ferries and sail clubs. It gets really busy out there at times.

Congrats to your engagement! Very exciting. I hear Sir Sam's is a cool place to indulge Have a blast! -
... just don't let this discourage you from using Kijiji, it's an excellent resource and a shame to not use it because of these incidences. If you maintain a good level of awareness during your sale, it all works out and everyone is happy. Best of luck with the sale of your bike. Ride safe and have fun. It's going to be a great season

Okay, so I am not the only crazy one ... phew. I wasn't on shrooms ... I was on the gas ... wait ... pedal while driving on 69. We were the only vehicle on the road at the time, and it came within 20 feet ... by "it" I mean the wolverine and by "69" I mean the highway if you were thinking any differently. We have Martins and Fishers at the cottage, and have seen them as well. This was a Wolverine. I saw it. My girlfriend saw it. I have also seen a cougar in Hunstville. Call me crazy. I just might be.

I'm Agonizing Over This Boat Buying Decision
discophish replied to solopaddler's topic in General Discussion
What you need to do is take a seat at the helm of both boats, and have a fan blown towards your face at a gale force setting, then comparatively at a gentle breeze setting. Once that evaluation is done, put both hands on the wheel and have a 5 gallon bucket of water splashed on you. If your hair is still neat and tidy, I would totally go with that boat! ... after all, it is winter, right?! Good luck with the decision. I'm sure both boats will serve you well. Very exciting time! -
My highest condolences to you and your family and every around you

Congrats to your milestone ECM, and to the many people here that have quit, trying to quit, or thinking of quitting. It's been 2 years next month for me, after 20 years. I would be lying if I said that I don't miss it on occasion, but that feeling becomes easily suppressed knowing all the positive things that have happened in life after quitting. The only tool to aid my time was a Smokestick, an electronic cigarette. I was able to order the nicotine cartridges from the states. Do not use this stick as an alternative to smoking, only consider using it as a desperate measure. It is in your pocket for the peace-of-mind, and nothing more. When you no longer need it, give it away to the next person! Stay strong. Give yourself a moment from time to time and think about the reasons why we have quit. Don't ever forget.

This Brown is huge! Great job on your PB!

Wow, that's an awesome lift system. Great job with the design. Can this be installed on my Jeep?

There are 2 DLX WS's on kijiji right now. One in QC and one here in Ontario. Good luck with the search!

Now you know where you got your passion for fishing! It's embedded in your dna! That's awesome! Fantastic that you all took the time to experience something like this together. It's these memories that will live on forever -
Thanks for the heads up FnA. That route will be an alternate route to Caledon. We are making the the drive up 50 during a 5:30 departure from downtown on Thursday, then continue onwards to the cottage for the weekend. Let's see how long it will take us. I will definitely keep my eyes posted for the limits on both routes.

It's not registered as an FXE? Definitely a shovel, but looks like an S&S crank case though while keeping the original heads. Hmm, if it has an electronic ignition, you should just go ahead and put a reverse gear in the tranny too! <kidding> Sweet bike. Now go out and ride it and get off the computer!

I'm seeing double now

I'm not sure if this is a medical emergency or not, but I think someone slipped some acid into my drink just now. I'm seeing flashes of your bike everywhere, including Terry's gif image. I gotta go lay down for a bit. Where the heck did my bed go? This ain't my home!
-
It's a little tricky getting past the mods on that bike, but if I can take a guess I would say that it started as an FXE. A little out of the ordinary with the hard tail style seat on a lowrider, but it works with the stretched tank. I may need to stuff myself with a few extra cheese burgers before I get my foot on that kicker! I have the exact S&S carb on my bike. You will love the fact that it's super easy to tune, one of the most tunable carbs on the market. I've had the sport bikes as well, but the rumble on these bikes are like nothing else. I love all classes of motorcycles. Can I ask why you picked this particular bike over the rest? Amazing bike! Now all you need is a green life jacket and fish flames to go along with it!

Okay. I noticed that you didn't swear profusely when you said you drive from Barrie downwards for your commute. So that's definitely good! Looking at Palgrave also, so just a little to the south of Tottenham. This is great. Another option with hwy 27 as an alternative to hwy 50. We thought that 1:15 would be about the average commute time, so thanks for the confirmation. Snow days are the good days to head up north and ice fish! Hmm, very interesting concept indeed. Sounds like it would work for others, but for us, we are at the cottage most weekends in all 4 seasons. If we follow this format, we would be avoiding our time at the Caledon house. I will definitely consider this if the neighbours welcome us with those flaming brown paper bags on the doorstep! hehe.
